  1. Two questions. 1. What does FrRnd stand for? 2. Why is "minors" in parentheses for each person?
  2. If that is the case, here is my solution. Immediately sign Chris Bassitt, Adam Duvall, Michael Fulmer, and Omar Narvaez. Assuming the current Twins' payroll is about $95M, these signings would add about $37M (values taken from Spotrac) for a new payroll of $132M. Offer Correa 13 years/$390M with player and team opt-outs after 7 and 10 years. (By the way, with revenues and player salaries going up, $30M will seem like an average contract by year 7.) This offer should satisfy the egos of both Scott Boris and Correa. If Correa accepts the offer, payroll is at $162M. If he still wants to negotiate, offer Dansby Swanson 12 years/$300. Payroll drops to $157M. If Swanson says no to that offer, Kyle Farmer is now the SS and payroll ends up at $132M. These scenarios all get the Twins a catcher who hits left handed, a LF who hits right handed, a starting pitcher at least as good as Gray, bullpen help, and a SS (with different levels of ability depending on which scenario is implemented).
  3. The Twins have a 60% chance of signing Correa and the Giants have a 50% chance? That math doesn't add up!
  4. This is right on the money (no pun intended). I also think it might help with the Correa negotiations. Signing Bassitt would show Correa that the Twins are serious about building a quality team. Also sign either Vasquez or Narvaez quickly before they are gone. Push the damn budget to $170M (inflation is real - even us senior citizens get a raise next month).
  5. An interview with the owner of the Padres a couple weeks ago provides the simple answer. He said two things: 1. I love to spend money. 2, You can't take it with you. If the Pohlads would adopt this attitude, then the Twins could spend like the Padres.
  6. All the pre-draft worrying about who to protect and who we might lose turns into another non-event for the Twins at the Winter Meetings.
  7. Whatever the first four picks are, DO NOT draft a power bat with a lot of swing-and-miss!!! We've seen enough of those. (Actually, we haven't "seen" any of them because they never get past AA level.)
  8. Dansby Swanson would be a very nice consolation prize if SF signs Correa. And a lot cheaper.
  9. I had a dream last night that the Twins waited until the end of the Winter Meetings to announce in a single press conference that they had signed Carlos Correa, Chris Bassitt, Adam Duvall, and Omar Narvaez. Way to go Front Office!!!
  10. Quite the extensive look into Sonny Gray's problems. But it appears that it all boils down to if he improves his command against right handed hitters, he will have a very good season.
  11. Is the 5th pick good for all rounds or just the first? If it carries over to all rounds, the Twins would have picks 5, 34, and 43. That's a nice position to be in.
  12. The General Manager of the Toronto Blue Jays was interviewed on MLB Radio this morning. He "suggested" two interesting things. 1) They are open to trading one of their three young catchers and 2) their biggest needs are one or two left-handed hitting outfielders and better defense in the outfield. How about opening the negotiations with a straight up Kepler for Danny Jenson trade? Left handed and great defense. Not enough for Jensen? Add Celestino. A second left hand hitting with above average defense. Still not enough? Try Larnach instead of Celestino. More offense but less defense. Do something to solve the catching problem.
  13. $170M!! Imagine signing both Trea Turner ànd Carlos Correa. Turner can play 2B, SS, and CF. With that athletic ability, I'm sure he could also play 3B or either corner OF positions. Polanco becomes expendable. Arraez might not be needed either. Trade them both for a good catcher and use the remaining budget to go after a pitcher.
  14. RV78 brought up very smart point and a great reason to trade Polanco now. After signing Correa (which, according to many analysts on MLB Radio, will happen soon), Farmer moves to second. Julien would be his backup and use this opportunity to improve his defense. Hopefully, the $$$ savings from trading Polanco will open the door for the additional signing of either Rodon or Wilson Contreras.
  15. Scenario #4. The Pohlad's go nuts and adopt the San Diego ownership mindset: You Can't Take It With You!! Under this scenario, the Twins sign Correa, Wilson Contreras, Chris Bassett, and Josh Bell, and the Pohlad's watch the value of the franchise go up $500M.
  16. A lot of people on TD seem to think that is the way it works. "Just sign Correa and Rodon."
  17. MLB's First Ever Black Friday Sale!!! 30% off all Free Agents!!! EXAMPLES Aaron Judge was 10 years for $450M, now 10/$315M Justin Verlander was 3/$120M, now 3/$84M. Carlos Correa was 8/$280M, now just 8/$196M. Sale ends at midnight tonight. Don't miss out!!!! View full rumor
  19. That's a smart approach. But if Boras wants to stretch this out to February, the Twins should withdraw their offer and go after Dansby Swanson. Good offensive numbers and Gold Glove defense. And cheaper!
  20. My belief is that the Twins will make a strong bid for a SS, but will not get one. There are several teams looking for a SS who have budgets that are $80M or higher than the Twin's. Farmer fits in perfectly. BUT, if the Twins do land one of the big four SS, Farmer can fill in all over the infield. I also think that if none of the young outfielders stands out in spring training, Farmer could take over LF until a better solution is found.
  21. Who is this "Buxton" guy? Does he actually play for the Twins?
  22. I wasn't sure if you meant the original post, DocBauer's response, or your post asking for "likes" so I "liked" all three.
