  1. One big issue is the games need to be played. It’s a 162-game season this time.
  2. Complete radio silence from the team and the beat writers since this Week-in-Review was published. be nice to know what's going on, even if its just a "we don't know what's going on yet"
  3. I’m assuming MLB is waiting on 24-hour test results from yesterday afternoon, and that we will hear more in a few hours. Per Twitter, the Twins have kicked all communications on this up to MLB. However, Falvey will be going on ‘CCO 830 at 2 PM, so I hear.
  4. I agree — Dobnak will be coming off the books about that time, so they’ll have plenty of money
  5. I liked the idea of keeping a long guy in the game if he’s warmed up, and effective. Instead of bringing in a string of guys cold off the bench until one of them implodes.
  6. Red Sox were, or are, on a 6-game Win streak. I liked the idea of Happ starting today, and Dobnak entering the game after any rain delay. As someone upthread said, this might not be the last time a game is cancelled for these reasons. I’m going to guess there is a 7-inning double header Thurs.
  7. Right. If not for the stupid rule where the other team gets to start the inning with a runner on second...
  8. To bring you up to speed: The Twins would be undefeated, if not for the games when the other team scored more runs.
  9. I’m all for it. I see the same as you. Rocco seems to have gotten much more conventional with his player usage in 2021 than in 2019. For example, bullpen. In 2019 he mixed and matched according to game situation, Rogers, Hildenberger, Blake Parker were the guys early in the season. But this year it looks like he’s going with the closer role, and also the more conventional “7th inning” and “8th inning” guys as well. That said, I’d bet someone else gets the next save opportunity.
  10. I was hoping someone would point that out It giveth, it taketh away. I would like to see Cruz advance to second base (which he would have, this time) before considering the substitution. The next batter was hit by pitch. But the next batter is just as likely to hit into a ground ball force out at second, completely wasting the substition.
  11. I’m surprised no one made anything about pulling Cruz. They certainly didn’t bring it up in the radio post-game. I don’t see how we can pull our best hitter from the game right there. Maybe later in the inning or if his run is the winning run. Get ‘em tomorrow.
  12. Bremer: “Dobnak now with a devastating slider...” Milwaukee batter: Line drive base hit, off of slider _______________ It’s the Internet. Of course we should overreact.
  13. I saw an MLB article that predicted the Twins as the third best team in the AL, but only second best in Central. I would love to see the Angels in the playoffs. The last spring rumor I saw was they will let Ohtani off the leash to be a true two-way player, instead of managing his days off around his pitching and DH. That would be fun!
  14. Interesting side note that may mean nothing: Dobnak has the same agent as Nick Anderson
  15. Wow ok. Nothing wrong with this for Dobnak. Not sure what leverage he had over the front office. It could start to add up if they do this with every young FA or late round guy who shows something in the show.
  16. I love Maeda; I was so excited I was posting in ALL CAPS for a few days after they traded for him (except that I wasn’t, because there was that trade glitch with Betts that put the trade on hold a few days and we couldn’t be 100% sure it would happen) I see your point. If someone feels Maeda can repeat his 2020 performance, and that same someone is bullish on Pineda, then it makes sense that this is the best rotation in a long time.
  17. If postseason performance is a criteria, keep in mind Pineda has never appeared in a postseason game. (That’s not predictive, but it probably says something important.)
  18. You don’t remember last few seasons? I like Odorizzi at #3 more than Pineda, by a mile. I didn’t mind Gibson, who wasn’t great, but whose worst sin to Twins fans was having a name that rhymed with “nibble.” I don’t mind Happ, and one of the younger guys might surprise, but.. we’ll see.
  19. Graterol’s success is important to consider, in my opinion, especially given the fruitless quest so far to find dominant relief pitching. Yes, the friendly Maeda contract slipped my mind there. Good reminder.
  20. The Maeda trade was good, but the guy we gave up for Maeda has already played a key part in a World Series championship and is on the verge of becoming one of the premiere relievers in baseball. Is that a fair assessment? The Odorizzi trade was a steal. There have been some other trade wins and trade losses. Syndergaard was healthy for 2019 when we could have used him, and is already rehabbing for 2021. If Alcala or Duran become elite, we’ll all share a laugh about this.
