  1. One starter, two relievers and a backup catcher was what I wanted... and we got exactly that. Maybe we needed an outfielder, but they'll have to make due with what they've got. Not bad, Falvine... now let's see how this team performs.
  2. Fulmer is only a rental, but a nice addition. I didn't think too highly of Gipson-Long, so I don't think losing him is a big deal. But we sure don't have a whole lot of pitching prospects left...
  3. They definitely need it, Jax-Lopez-Duran is a nice start but needs work. It's not out of the question that one of them gets hurt the next two months, so it wouldn't hurt to improve the depth and prevent one of Duffey/Smith/Pagan from throwing in a very important outing.
  4. Perhaps, but the Twins have neglected him for so long that it's not much different from cutting him and Cleveland picking him up. The Twins weren't going to call him up, so it's no loss on our end.
  5. As was fully expected, the Twins land a backup catcher as Caleb Hamilton was not going to cut it. Leon should be up sooner than later.
  6. So far: Mahle, Lopez, Cave added to 26 man and 40 man Cotton DFA'd, Kirilloff to 15 day IL, Cano off 40 man roster (was already optioned to AAA). Looks to me like we'll need one more 26 man spot and one more 40 man spot.
  7. I'm OK with giving up Steer... but including CEH hurts. That's 3 top 20 prospects for Mahle, who is a fine starter but nothing special. We desperately need a starter like him who can go the distance but he's not going to be a difference-maker in the playoffs. I wouldn't be shocked if the Reds eventually 'win' this trade in a few years' time... but we could offset this by inking Mahle to an extension.
  8. Despite all of our ragging on that trade, we lost no prospects worth of value - the Giants only have Kai-Wei Teng left from that deal, who is a starter at AA and is struggling. It would be another story if we moved someone who is contributing to our current team.
  9. This is going to be a mammoth deal, isn't it... so the Padres land Hader, Soto, and Bell within 2 days? Wow. Must be fun to be a Padres fan!
  10. MLBT makes it sound like we sent 4 prospects, so far we know 3 of them. I have no problems parting with any of the 3 named so far, so on paper I love this trade. More please!
  11. Where would we be without Miranda? Good to see him translating his 2021 minor league season to the majors, he's a keeper. As for Sanchez, could we move him to the pen? He still has good stuff and has been a starter his whole career - they may find a gem in the rough. Now it's Falvey and Levine's time... come through with some trades. I'm not asking for the farm system to be cleared out, but we've got to get another starter, two relievers, and a backup catcher at the minimum. This team isn't great, but who knows if a spark to the system could put us back in contention. At least try to makeup for the failures of the 2019 and 2020 trade deadlines!
  12. The NFL/Goodell could appeal the decision to push it to 8-16 games... there's quite a bit of outrage about it. Problem was that there was no precedent, and the judge didn't compare the situation to others due to the lack of violent act(s) being committed. I agree that 6 games is light, but it could be hard to change. Luckily for the Browns, their first 4 games are a cakewalk and Watson will be back for the harder part of their schedule... the AFC North will be interesting to watch.
  13. We could use him because he's eating innings and is durable, but he's also been a replacement level starter this year. We have enough of those already...
  14. Robbie Grossman to the Braves, trying to mimic their 2021 deadline moves, perhaps? Rogers had a worse month!
  15. Hate the bunt call. Gordon can score from 2B, let Contreras swing!
  16. I wonder if folks on Tigers Daily are mad that Skubal only went 5 innings?
  17. Agreed, isn't he a fan favorite? Now there's an extra playoff spot and they're giving up when they're close to getting in? Haven't they traded enough pieces away at the deadline in years past?
  18. So the Yankees have landed Benintendi, Effress, Montas, and Trivino... yikes. Can't remember the last time one team was far and away this much better than all of the others... but if they fall short of a World Series, it will be delicious. Also, that return feels light for Montas... just a #5 & #10 prospect plus a couple of throw-ins?
  19. I am very confused by the Brewers shipping out Hader now... if they were going to move him, why not do it a year ago when the return would have been bigger? Now they're going into their playoff run without their stud closer? I get that Rogers and Lamet have high rebound value... but I wouldn't be happy to be a Brewers fan.
  20. If Sanchez were going to the pen I wouldn't hate it, but he just doesn't have what it takes to be a starter. No surprise Godoy is off the roster, but I wouldn't be surprised if Hamilton is next (or just off the 26 man) since I fully expect the Twins to find a backup catcher by the deadline tomorrow.
  21. Bundy got to start the 6th and Gray didn't? Weird. At least he got a quick hook.
  22. What happened? Gameday said Buxton popped out, but he didn't?
