  1. I think it's time to stop using Megill in close games, he may have great stuff but he's very hittable. Not sure why Lopez or Duran aren't pitching the 9th, seeing that it's a one run game and they didn't pitch yesterday.
  2. Yikes, watching Cave whiff at a 48 MPH pitch out of the zone is cringeworthy.
  3. If that's the case, this is the fifth time hell has frozen over this year (5th time Ryan has gone over 100).
  4. I had a feeling Rocco would let Ryan go over 100 pitches - he seems to be fine with it when the game is out of hand in either direction. But when the game is close he gets pull-happy.
  5. Attaboy Celestino! The feast part of the feast/famine offense is here today.
  6. Bases loaded, no outs... challenge accepted! Boy, did we need Garlick back or what?
  7. For me, it's more about whether the front office should stick around or not... and if we clean house, Rocco goes too. Would the Falvine FO really stand to benefit that much from a third shot at a different manager? I think it would be nice to hire a veteran manager next time around, but I don't see the point if the FO is going to be on a very hot seat in 2023 - it'd be like slapping a bandage on a gaping wound.
  8. It is a massive leap, but we're talking about replacing Cave/Beckham with Julien, not doing something like replacing Kepler. Cave/Beckham have nothing to offer at the MLB level and there is a small chance that Julien could, and putting him on the 40 man won't be a problem. It's more a comparison of replacing a practice squad/backup QB who is starting with a rookie, since the starter is hurt.
  9. Can Julien play OF? Why not just promote him to the majors straight away, and if he struggles, then send him to AAA. We need something and he's hot, and will be added to the 40 man before December... might as well over the likes of Beckham and Cave!
  10. Negativity is fine, it just gets annoying when it's constant and clogging up the game threads. On a macro scale, I'm totally fine with it (personally I wish there was a bit more skepticism in the TD articles), but on a micro scale it becomes fatiguing, especially back when the Twins were playing well. It is a lot more understandable now that the team is playing like garbage. Even when the Twins were hot, it still felt like there was a big gap between the top 5 teams and us, now it feels like the chasm is monstrously wide. Not even some trade acquisitions that looked good on paper moved the needle...
  11. Valdez gets to go 7 innings and over 100 pitches, but Verlander in a no-hitter doesn't? Weird. If they can't score again - which it looks like they won't - then it won't matter what the pen did, and it will end up as a bad game. Rocco does seem to have the touch of death with whatever bullpen moves he makes, but Fulmer crapping the bed in the 6th rather then the 7th doesn't change anything.
  12. It's a good game when your offense has 2 hits through 6 innings?
  13. OK, those two runs were on Fulmer. Hmmm, maybe I need to extend my 'always bet on Yankees over Twins' to add in the Astros as well... it's starting to feel like it's a similar thing. I guess that's what happens when a mediocre team plays a dominant one.
  14. Was it Fulmer's fault that Beckham (who should not be out in LF) failed to catch that fly ball?
  15. Garlick is in today's AAA lineup, Larnach has not been the past two days. With how long Larnach has been away, he probably needs more time.
  16. Gordon reportedly left the game with dizziness.
  17. Hold on, they actually pulled Verlander? Everyone here gives the Twins so much grief over this, even when the one time they had a chance at a no-hitter they gave Maeda every chance to do it... and now this year we've seen both Kershaw and Verlander yanked early in a no-hitter situation.
  18. Well, we just fired our hitting coach last year and got a new one. I don't know if firing them annually is going to work, though what we're doing now sure isn't either.
  19. Uh... the best options I see are Chris Williams or Roy Morales. We really don't have much left, Maybe if we still had Spencer Steer they could stick him at DH and probably do better than this.
  20. This team doesn't have guys who can steal bases, the offense is built around slugging and extra base hits. They've underachieved in that department lately on top of being horrific in clutch situations. RBIs matter a lot more to me than SBs. As for allowing SBs, that has to stop. But I guess the bed was made when they committed to Jeffers/Sanchez at catcher with no viable depth.
  21. Aaron Sanchez selected and called up, Smeltzer optioned. Kirilloff to the 60 day IL is probably the 40 man move.
  22. Well said, I was going to say something very similar. It's more likely he does not achieve what Berrios did over his career, but it's within the realm of possibility.
  23. I don't think there's anything in their heads, I just don't think our pitching is that good.
  24. Doesn't matter who you are or how well you've been pitching, if you're a Twins starter in the 6th inning, it feels like it's a guarantee that the opposing team will get at least 2 baserunners every time.
