  1. Yep. We keep playing for the future, never for the now. For once I wanted to see the 'now' ... and for all these people saying 'Good, I'm glad' ... they'd better not complain about the SS in game threads this coming season ? We certainly could have matched the dollars, but chose not to. I'm glad we don't have a 13-yr contract, though, so ... disappointed but not overly surprised. Hope now they go all in and get one quality starter and two quality BP arms. And hope the infield can keep down the hits.
  2. Maybe. And in a few years. So we play the wait game that never comes on prospects. Playing for the future is what we’ve been doing the last 10 yrs. Goodie, we’ll keep doing that. It’s a winner, That said, 13 yrs is ridiculous and as disappointed as I am, I’m glad the Twins wouldn’t match that.
  3. We had two threads on the same topic so I merged them.
  4. So, he prefers the Yankees ... does that mean if he doesn't go there, he's going to have a piss poor attitude a la Lance Lynne from a few years ago when he doesn't get what he wants? That said, he'll be going to the Yankees.
  5. That is no longer an issue so I think we can now move on from this subject
  6. I think it was a solid signing and am happy about it. However, he wasn't the best catcher out there, so it dropped my grade down a bit. Still ... I think it was a good, solid signing
  7. That’s the bad part of this sport. I still miss Escobar. But for the right price, I’d trade anyone because that’s how it works ?
  8. That was a previous management. We traded with them last year and it wasn’t that bad
  9. This was on TD's FB page ... "Hi friends. Earlier we briefly published (and quickly deleted) a story suggesting Luis Arraez had been traded to Miami. You probably didn't see it, but we still wanted to quickly explain and apologize. Our site policy is to write article "shells" for rumors we feel have legs, so we can quickly update and publish when news breaks to let people start discussing right away. In this case, when the Christian Vázquez signing broke, we accidentally published the wrong story, then corrected the error. The Arraez/Marlins rumors aren't exactly a secret, but we have no reason to believe such a trade is imminent or set to happen at all. Again, we apologize for the miscue and will make sure it doesn't happen again. Thank you!"
  10. try living in downtown Chicago .,. I’m looking forward to returning to the Twin Cities and some room! ?
  11. It's too early in the off-season for them to have a place yet. Once rosters start to gel then GM's will start to ask what more they could use. That's when those guys get deals.
  12. They had the money, they didn't spend it. That was the issue. His contract hamstrung nothing
  13. All fair. But I think the Twins have shown they are willing to go out and get players. They made some trades last year that we were mostly all excited about ... until we weren't because of injuries. Imo, go in on Correa, trade for a SP that is as good or better than Mahle, get a better BP piece or two ... that's a good commitment to show Correa. But, if it's truly only about money, then he may take the deals with the other places ... we'll see how high it goes. I'm not worried about not spending more in FA as many others are here are angsty about (I do NOT want to go all in and above for Rodon, for example) ... but I do want to see some trading before I start whining about the off season.
  14. I guess you and I look at rebuild differently. Imo, the team should always be looking to trade and acquire, no matter where they are. If you are rebuilding, you are trading off vets for prospects, when you are contending, you are trading off prospects for proven players, or trading proven players for better proven players. So, I don’t think what the Twins have done last year or this qualify as rebuild to me. That said, if Correa wants to avoid that, I think the Cubs are in a worse position as the Twins. And I also think he wants to make sure that the acquisitions made are to continue to contend vs selling off pieces for prospects for some future contention time years from now
  15. I'm sorry, but Rogers was far from proven, imo. He had never been truly consistent and was coming off injuries. That's not to say I approved the trade (although I did at the time, if they had done more to then address the BP, that was always my concern). But Rogers, imo, was never a proven closer. And we are way better off than the Cubs are right now. So, it will be interesting, if the Cubs offer the most money and/or years, what he does.
  16. Last minute is waiting until the day before the season starts. We are a long ways yet from it being last minute. And sometimes it's not the Twins waiting out the market, but the market waiting itself out
  17. Well, I can sometimes relate ... if we are being honest ... but I mean that in the nicest possible way. (Because I don't always get it. This time I did, though.)
  18. The price will be way too high for Rodon. I say skip Rodon, get Correa, then work on a trade for a starter and get a couple of BP arms. Paying for pitching is way more risky than a position player and 6 yrs for Rodon won't be worth it. We are far better off with Correa for 10-11 yrs.
