  1. A lease means nothing. And there is no guarantee that if sold, they would stay local. It could, and that would be fine with me, but it is not a guarantee. So they sell and the new owners move the team, how would you feel?
  2. I don’t disagree. I have been very vocal in these forums about their FA strategy and needing to be competitive. Just clarifying that the Buxton deal happened because, imo, Buck made it happen
  3. And this isn’t condescending and dismissive? Two wrongs don’t make a right. Everyone, please play nice and allow for divergent opinions, whatever they may be. Don’t make your posts personal toward other posters. Watch the disrespect. Agree to disagree if you can’t find legitimate discussion points.
  4. They re-signed him because Bux came to them willing to do what it took to sign a deal because he wanted to remain a Twin
  5. If we are going to sign him I would like a bit lengthier contract without opt outs after each year. If he wants to sign with us, then stay with us a few years
  6. Okay, y’all … you’ve gotten your jabs in … let’s move back to topic and maybe remember the peace of the season … Gentle moderator rebuke over ,,, carry on, with the topic
  7. After living in Chicago for 22-23 yrs, I don’t hate the White Sox, and if forced to choose, would choose them hands down over the Cubs. ? That said, I would still offer Correa a contract … high AAV on the front end, and incentive laden on the back end, but not sure how long either the front or back ends would be
  8. I’m not trying to be snide, but asking a legitimate question because I truly don’t get it. If it’s so awful for you, and you dislike the ownership and management as much as you do, and think the team is terrible, why bother with it? Why come here and spend time to discuss anything? Why even watch or listen to or follow this team at all in any capacity? I know that giving up is difficult after so many years of fandom, but why keep going? Again, not trying to snide, because I’d like to know why following something so horrible is worth your time. Chances are if the team is sold the Twins move and would cease to be the Twins. Would that be okay? I mean, of course I wish the team would spend more, and think they can afford to, and how nice it would be to have Steve Cohen run things, but that’s not what we have. I, too, get frustrated, but this is what we have and I have zero control over it.
  9. You don’t know this. That is your speculation. Donaldson came here because, lo and behold, we offered the most. We don’t know and cannot know for certain what FAs will do when we don’t offer competitive contracts. Just because you have a low opinion of players wanting to play in Minnesota doesn’t make it true
  10. I think it’s autocorrect more than anything? Not sure why autocorrect didn’t catch ‘misspell’, though ??
  11. I don’t think they missed anything. There is different scrutiny to a one year deal than a 10-13 yr deal. Heezy made a great post in another thread. Of course it’s as much speculation and guess as anyone’s, but as our ‘resident orthopedist’, I give his guesses and insights a lot more weight. I get the skepticism of our medical staff due to the injuries last year, but I think we can tone down some of instant judgement on this.
  12. Short term vs long term risk is I think what we are seeing, not that the Twins were remiss in anything when they signed him last year. Maybe the significantly less offer did take this into consideration. And someone else pointed out in the other thread that insuring him for long term because of the leg could be a factor. At what year does insurance draw the line? I’m not so certain this issue is that something is wrong right now but that doctors and insurance companies are concerned with how his repaired leg will hold up in the latter parts of a 10-13 yr contract. If he wants a 10 yr deal at this point I think it will be for less money and one that is seriously front loaded and/or incentive based
  13. I’ll grant it’s not good but your comment said ‘worst’ and you’ve proven otherwise
  14. May the peace and joy of the season carry with you through the year … happy and merry to all, whatever your celebrations may be!
  15. This is also being discussed in this thread here: https://twinsdaily.com/forums/topic/60114-rumor-mets-have-concerns-with-correa-physical/?_rid=7
  16. ‘But what about …?’ is not a discussion point that furthers the discussion at hand. It’s a non-rebuttal that is actually a detractor from the discussion and ends up being a threadjack.

  17. I’m saying that the two are highly different situations. Correa didn’t come up through our system and wanted to stay like Bux; so the FO constructed a deal for Buxton that is based entirely on Buxton remaining on the field. He gets paid more when he plays more. It is hugely incentive based. As I said, if he weren’t a risk, he’d be making Judge money up front, free and clear. He’s not. Not even close. And whatever Correa’s medical issue is, I’m sure it’s not identical. I don’t know what it is so I don’t know what kind of deal is or isn’t appropriate for his set of circumstances. You are trying to make them comparable, and they aren’t, imo. And I’m not saying just go out and sign Correa now for whatever … I’m curious what the issue is and what the risk is and what it would take because I think he can still be valuable, I just don’t know what the issue is, as I said, so don’t know what an appropriate deal would be. And Correa was on the field a lot more than Buxton last season. Just not comparable.
  18. Or that something happened last year that makes them wary … or something that has recently been reaggravated.
  19. The Buxton deal was a huge discount. If Buxton had a strong bill of health with no history, he’d be getting Judge money. What about, what about …
  20. Well, speculation and opinion will do that, too … but it is the nature of sites like this … it’s what gives us something to talk about
  21. It’s been fairly well reported that he is not a good teammate and not wanted around by other players. And that’s even before the allegations of sexual assault and violence to women
  22. Absolutely not. No. He is not a good teammate, he’s a clubhouse distraction and detractor, no.
