  1. I just saw a post yesterday on IG where he said he was playing in the WBC for Japan This is a screen shot of his post. Unless the translation was bad or I’ve read this wrong … sounds like he’s going to the WBC? But you are correct in that I don’t see him listed on Japan’s roster.
  2. Maeda isn't going to the pen. The Twins have already stated that. So ... he's the 5th starter. Not sure if that means Ober starts in AAA, is the 6th starter, or works from the pen? Just don't know. Also, Maeda will be pitching for Japan in the WBC ... we'll get a good opportunity to see how he does in meaningful game action. It's been reported that he's ready to go full on.
  3. If you have the Athletic, you can read it here: https://theathletic.com/4156345/2023/02/09/twins-top-20-prospect-farm-system-ranked/ Here are his top 10. You'll have to subscribe to see his write ups on each and for the 11-20. 1. E Rod 2. Lee 3. Lewis 4. Martin 5. Salas 6. Julien 7. Balazovic 8. Prielipp 9. Schobel 10. SWR
  4. I think they'll work it out so that one of Ryan or Gray has the opening day start, and they other has the home opener start. If they can work it that way. Haven't really looked at the schedule to see how probable that would be. Kind of ninja'd by @stringer bell on that.
  5. Okay, done ... it's now a poll ... everyone who commented will now have to come back and vote 😊
  6. Right ... seems to me that if it were still a regular Olympic sport, the WBC wouldn't be necessary. It won't be in the 2024 Olympics, but it will be in the 2028 Olympics that will be held in LA. That it was removed is partially the fault of MLB, from what I understand, but not entirely. Mostly it was about scheduling.
  7. This will provide useful when I move back to Mpls and am actually a frequent attendee of games at TF!

  9. If Carlos Correa deems Miranda’s body as sexy, I think we’re good to go!
  10. And what did you think? Good to meet you in person after so many years!
  11. Taylor will play CF in Bux’ absence. Gordon or Gallo can spot fill in when necessary but Taylor is the backup. Celestino will remain in AAA to get back some development missed for rushing him up too soon out of necessity. Doubtful Kepler will see any time in CF even if not traded unless everyone else is out
  12. The owners don’t want it either and they certainly don’t want a minimum that is acceptable
  13. Posters and bloggers aren't the Twins org, thankfully. We're all just arm chair GMing here. But yes, I hope that all expectations aren't on Kirilloff's shoulders, it should be on everyone's shoulders.
  14. Yeah, I wish the title of this piece had a question mark in it, because this is all speculation.
  15. Taylor is a one year option out there, giving Celestino a chance to develop in AAA, as his development time was cut short out of need. I wouldn't call Celestino at all redundant, not yet, anyway. Hopefully he will (and should, imo) spend the year at AAA to see where he's at mid-season; and hopefully we won't need him up as we did in the past 2 yrs.
  16. At this time of year and through the beginning month of the season, I always take the pov ... anything is possible. (Probable is a different discussion, but possible is hopeful.) But ... I also still take the stance ... hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Still ... at this point in time ... anything is possible. :)
  17. Not sure. Probably not. But if someone were to offer a front-end starter, I’d listen. Right, I know. I’m playing make believe, so it’s not happening, but that’s kind of my point, and I think the point others are making. I wouldn’t shop him, and I don’t think anyone would, but if someone called with an offer I couldn’t refuse? I’d have to consider it … wouldn’t you? That’s really all I meant. For me, no one is untouchable, but with Lewis, as I said, I wouldn’t be shopping him, but if someone called and made an awesome offer, I’d have to consider it.. Especially since the Twins won’t go out and sign such a pitcher.
  18. Just a note ... you could have made your point without the stereotyping of 'older generations.' I'd say there are plenty older folks on here who perfectly understand the analytics and plenty of younger folks who don't. And plenty of older and younger who may not understand them all, but still give them their due. And then there are plenty of older and younger who complain about them. I don't think this is just an 'older generational thing' at all.
  19. The assumptions are on both sides here. I don't think anyone is suggesting to just trade him away for little return. If a team is willing to overpay and hand over an ace pitcher, it's something to consider. Anyone can be traded ... for the right price. I don't think anyone is suggesting he should be shopped, but, if someone came knocking, I'd hear them out. I'm not sure Royce falls into the 'untouchable' category, but the offer had better be outstanding and something they couldn't refuse to do it.
