  1. This thread will not be turned into one big ‘what about’. It doesn’t prove your point and each situation is different from one another so stop obfuscating the situation with Bauer. Keep your comments to who Bauer is as a pitcher, a teammate and MLB player. Consider this a moderator warning to all. This isn’t about anyone else but Bauer. Stop ‘whatabouting’.
  2. Bauer has shown NONE of that and actually quite the opposite. ” for next to nothing cost wise.” I think there would be a huge cost. True, little monetarily toward his salary, but there would be a huge backlash to his signing that would be very costly, imo
  3. I don’t really think they’re blocked. Lee or Lewis can play 3rd with Miranda becoming the DH. Martin will move to the OF, likely. Lewis could also play OF. Remember, Polanco will likely be gone before too long. And there is always trading one of them away for pitching. And Correa may need to move off SS in a few years.
  4. I don't think the payroll is an issue. We have room to spare and certainly Correa will no longer reach the $300million threshold of guaranteed money. I expect that no matter where he signs it will be front loaded and then incentive based and maybe a year or two of opt outs
  5. But if he really wants to be there, wouldn’t he have taken what they are offering already?
  6. As a fairness minded fan ... most are looking at Bauer the teammate more than anything else. He has a proven track record of not being a good teammate or baseball colleague, of players not wanting him there, of being a bad clubhouse presence. Even if he can still contribute as a high end pitcher (he hasn't pitched for almost 2 seasons), I still think the cost is too high given the other things about him as a player and teammate. And these were issues long before any allegations came out. The player and teammate alone gives me a 'no, not on my team' response.
  7. And this is what most of us are saying. He has a track record of being disliked by teammates and causing issues in the clubhouse wherever he goes going back to college. And on top of that he shows no remorse, none, about anything he does. Leave everything out of it having to do with his reputation with women, and just his reputation as a player and teammate and colleague ... none of it has shown to be good. Talent alone never gets it done. I work in a profession based on talent ... you get a job, then you go through a tenure process to see what kind of a colleague you are, and some just don't pass, for a number of reasons. I think it's an apt comparison to Bauer. What good he might bring as a pitcher would just be too costly for what bad he would bring to the team, imo.
  8. How many of them sought counseling and went through some kind of program to change, how many did change? That is part of the issue. But let's not make this a 'what about' argument because that doesn't actually make any kind of point to why you want Bauer on the Twins. I think it's fair to say some want him because of the pitcher he may still be and we need better pitchers, but for others, it's just way too big of a cost. It's not about how we cheer on anyone else so you can claim we are all hypocrites, because that does nothing for the discussion but lead us down a sidetrack.
  9. At this point, I'm not really sure what you are proposing in regards to Bauer. Do you think the Twins should give him a contract, is that your point?
  10. That article confirms to me that there is a pattern not to be ignored, despite there only being one court proceeding
  11. There have been others who have come forward, indicating, yes, there is a pattern of abuse
  12. I thought I had read his numbers were going the other way. That is good. Still, hard pass.
  13. There would be a cost, though, and I’m not sure it’s a cost that should be paid without Bauer actively working on being a better teammate and a better human.
  14. Before this goes further, there is a huge difference between what the Astros players did and what Bauer did. While I don’t condone cheating, Bauer’s violent and brutal behavior toward women deserves greater scrutiny and if he wants a second chance, he needs to change his ways. That aside, if you want to discuss the baseball side of things, Bauer hasn’t really been an ace for some time, and hasn’t pitched for a long time. And he is a known ‘bad teammate’ and clubhouse problem. Hard pass.
  15. For all of you who answered ‘sing and dance and leap for joy’ you will be required to send video proof ?
  16. Lol … I was in the hospital a few year back with pancreatitis. Have to say, if I weren’t hooked up to stuff, the morphine for sure would have made me do that. Instead all I was left with was singing. Pretty sure I did a little of that. I don’t really remember
  17. I don’t think they have to, but that’s what I’d do to get it done. I think Correa is worth that for 8 years.
  18. Yeah, can’t imagine he’ll get 10 yrs anywhere. But I’d go 8/285.
  19. I'm wondering if they sign before it's announced, or, they announce it just as they sign. That whatever medicals he has to go through will be done before anything gets said. IF ...
  20. ooooookaaaaaaay ... and that's a personal and individual reaction that people will have when they hear the news that the Twins signed Correa?
