  1. The time is now for the Gophers to make the Big 10 title game. The schedule is never going to be easier than it is right now. Iowa looks terrible, and we’ve got the monkey off our back winning against Wisconsin. Tons of experience on this team, with Morgan and Ibrahim as 6th year seniors. I would have liked to see Morgan air it out more in the 1st game… I fear the only thing he can read on the field is the RPO slant pass.
  2. Joe Ryan’s stats vs. KC and DET: 6 starts, 34.2 IP, 5 ER, 1.44 ERA Joe Ryan’s stats vs. everyone else: 16 starts, 83.2 IP, 46 ER, 5.49 ERA He should not be a lock to be in the 2023 rotation. One day a sports psychologist is going to write a book and make good money about the Twins collectively pooping the bed the second they see Yankees pinstripes. It’s diseased. Also, I’ve seen plenty of Austin Davis to last a lifetime. DFA him and call up Evan Sisk from AAA.
  3. Yep. Enough time has passed from the lost development season of 2020. This was the first year where it’s totally reasonable to judge the quality of the prospect and pitching pipeline. The FO gave every indication that this was the plan all along by only signing Bundy, Archer, and Joe Smith. Then reality hit that Correa would actually sign here, and they changed course by trading for Sonny Gray. Even so, if we were privy to see the 2022 plan, they’d probably want Bundy and Archer to be serviceable until June, when guys like Balazovic/Sands/Winder could take over full time. We know how things turned out. I don’t know why the goalposts keep moving a year later to analyze the FO. Do I actually think the Pohlads will move on from them? No. But I’m ready to move on. I don’t think they’re the duo to deliver on their promises of building a sustainable contender, and develop a strong pitching pipeline.
  4. Cleveland lost. This division is so bad. First team to 82 wins gets the AL Central title.
  5. The Yankees sweeping the Twins is the easiest bet you can make. Baldelli has a .182 win percentage as a Twins manager against NYY. Makes me sick.
  6. After this outing I’d rather see Evan Sisk, who’s also left handed and breathing. And is Rule 5 eligible this December.
  7. What are we gaining here by having Austin Davis on the roster? I find it hard to believe there isn’t anyone in AAA who can pitch these innings.
  8. Garlick went 0-7 with 5 ks in the double header. He may just be a platoon guy.
  9. That signature Correa moment is going to have to happen some other day. Maybe he should picture the bases empty and he’ll launch one to outer space.
  10. Imagine having a pitcher on roster that can confidently give you 6-7 innings in 90% of your starts… We used to have that. I miss Jose Berrios.
  11. I heard it as well and was concerned hearing it. If there are several players on this roster that are “psychologically afraid of failure” then you have a bad culture in the organization. A la Mike Zimmer creating such a rotten culture in the Vikings locker room people were afraid of making mistakes because they didn’t want to get yelled at.
  12. Tampa. 9 innings at St. Paul before getting called up to the majors.
  13. If you ask the right people around here, Ryan is a resounding success of the pitching pipeline.
  14. Joe Ryan should not be a lock in the rotation next year. His numbers are terrible against teams not named Kansas City and Detroit.
  15. You didn’t miss much unfortunately. Levine said many words that amounted to nothing at all.
  16. Provus and Gladden have Levine on the radio and they aren’t towing the company line like Dick Bremer. Gladden asked why they aren’t teaching pitchers to make it the 3rd time through the order… Provus questioned Buxton’s rest schedule and hiding him at DH. Levine obviously went with corporate speak saying many words that ended up being nothing at all. But I respect them at least asking some tough questions.
  17. The lone positive was Louie Varland pitching well in his debut. Happy for him. Tim Laudner said on the post game “I don’t know if it’s in their heads…” talking about the Twins’ lack of success against the Yankees. I don’t know how it isn’t all in their heads at this point. They are 2-20 at Yankee Stadium since 2015. Likely 2-21 later tonight. Laying eggs against the Yankees is a tradition that hasn’t been overcome by hundreds of players, multiple FO regimes, or 3 managers.
  18. Which team throws a position player on the mound first in game 2?
  19. The entire PA he was swinging like he wanted to hit it 600 ft.
  20. Cashman is already booking his flight. Maybe the red eye tonight.
  21. I doubt Aaron Boone will appreciate that jogging effort by Guzman and he’ll be sent back to AAA tomorrow.
