  1. I expected many opinions and hawt taeks on the new athletic trainer since the last one was the scapegoat for everything that went wrong in 2022 /s.
  2. Yes. My previous post was negative about the Pressly deal. The Donaldson trade is one of my favorites in the Falvey/Levine tenure. I commend them for getting out of the last 2 years (and option in 2024) of the contract without eating any of the money. And getting 2 decent contributors on short term contracts.
  3. Pressly would have looked good in a Twins uniform for the last 4 seasons. It’s still one of my least favorite trades in Falvey and Levine’s tenure.
  4. I haven’t decided anything. I’m simply pointing out that there’s a very fine line with Arraez when he doesn’t have any power ability. I think injuries played a major factor in his underwhelming 2nd half at the plate and the field. You’re the only one I’ve seen who has definitively said Arraez is no longer a 2B. As far as trades including either Polanco or Arraez to improve 2023, who knows. Does Miami bite on a trade of Arraez and Larnach for Lopez? We don’t know. I believe you’re also in the camp of either going big or rebuilding. Trading Polanco or Arraez doesn’t need to happen immediately. If we don’t re-sign Correa or the other top 3 SS free agents, then they can decide to trade one of these players for a prospect package or MLB talent.
  5. Based on the defensive stats posted here, neither should be an every day 2B. If Polanco is one of the worst in UZR and Outs Above Average then Arraez can’t do much worse. Choose one and flip the other. If Arraez is indeed just a DH or 1B then it’s imperative to move him before he becomes an empty .280 hitter like Jason Tyner.
  6. I don’t think we can afford anything unless the other team picks up 90% of the salary. We only have $1.3 million in cap space. Sounds like we’ve been poking around at the WR market like Brandin Cooks, Jerry Jeudy, and KJ Hamler. Doesn’t appear this regime trusts Osborn very much, and Thielen is not a guy who can stretch the field anymore. Frankly I’d rather stand pat or do some minor selling of players for draft picks than mortgage the future even more.
  7. Haven’t heard or read any statement that he is no longer a 2B.
  8. Last year I wanted the Twins to make a decision on Polanco and Arraez at 2B and sell high on the one they didn’t choose. Still feel that way this offseason. As entertaining Arraez is, I lean towards trading him over Polanco. The story no Twins fan wants to talk about is how empty Arraez’s 2nd half numbers were at the plate. I know he was hobbling around playing through injury. However, without any power ability, he’s got to be producing like the 1st half all the time. Otherwise an empty .275 BA is no better than Jason Tyner.
  9. This is going to be an interesting topic over the winter. It’s not an easy call to make. Removing Duran from the BP makes the Twins one of the worst bullpen units in the league. But he raises the ceiling of the starting staff if he can pace himself for 5-6 innings.
  10. Kodai Senga has the most upside of the group. Electric stuff and the unknown element of playing in NPB. I’d be happy to sign him.
  11. Why wait until Friday to get this started?
  12. I don’t think there’s anything to conclude from the first year of this playoff format. Baseball playoffs are always random… more random than the other 3 major sports. That’s the beauty of it. Chip, chair, and a chance. Philly got hot at the right time.
  13. Investing in Rodon long term terrifies me. He’s had a laundry list of severe shoulder and elbow injuries throughout his career. In 2021 he was dealing with shoulder fatigue and dead arm, causing him to be ineffective in the final stretch for Chicago. San Francisco rode him to career highs in starts and innings knowing he was opting out and they won’t re-sign him.
  14. If/when we make a trade, we’ve got to be disciplined to trade from positions of surplus. Which, from my BarcaLounger, looks like 2B, LH hitting corner OF, and near-ready back of the rotation arms requiring further development. That’s why in my proposal to Miami (or Arizona) it’s focused on Polanco or Arraez as the headliner, a corner OF, and a pitching prospect (whether that’s Varland, SWR, Balazovic, Canterino, etc.) What made zero sense last winter was us trading away multiple catchers, turning a decent depth position into a deficit. As a result, we had to play a AAAA talent in Sandy Leon, and a AAA talent in Caleb Hamilton for weeks at a time.
  15. Developing the arm is the correct answer. We’ve seen it year after year where Falvey bids up to a certain amount of years (5 for both Darvish and Wheeler) and another team tacks on the additional year to win the bid. If we go the trade route, which I prefer greatly over signing a FA pitcher, Miami is the clear choice to call. Pablo Lopez, Trevor Rogers, Jesus Luzardo, Braxton Garrett, and Max Meyer are all very intriguing options. I would try to see who they like most out of (Polanco or Arraez), (Larnach or Wallner), and a pitching prospect to get a deal done. If Miami doesn’t want to play ball, I would call Arizona and see if Zac Gallen could be had for the right price.
  16. I watched a good portion of the 4th quarter today. Rodgers still can sling it. The problem is there isn’t a single WR on roster who can catch his passes. I saw at least 3 passes that hit the WR in their hands and dropped. I also don’t know why they continue to make AJ Dillon a thing when Aaron Jones is light years better than him.
  17. I would trade him for a useful reliever, or perhaps package him with someone else for a decent starter. Aaron Gleeman said it best on the recent podcast… Every team has a player that fans are tired of. Max Kepler is our tired player. Doesn’t mean he’s bad. We’re just tired of seeing his underlying metrics and wondering why he can’t put it together at the plate.
  18. They better have several major upgrades elsewhere in the lineup if Iglesias is the starting SS. The Twins are losing a top of the order player in Correa and a player like Iglesias is a bottom of the order hitter. The offense is a pretty major reason why we ended up below .500.
  19. Didn’t have that on my bingo card… Carlos Correa also a nominee for SS, and Max Kepler for RF.
  20. I think the NFL has an ideal schedule. 17 regular season games is strange - it won’t be long and they’ll push it to 18. Starting in early September and ending in early February. There’s enough time away from real games to make you miss it and excited when the new season starts. I think MLB, NHL, and NBA seasons are way too long. NHL and NBA could cut their regular season from 82 games to 60. MLB could cut it down from 162 to 120.
  21. We all know why the Twins operate as they do. A vast majority of fans have given up the fight because there is nothing we can do to convince a billionaire how to spend their money. MLB would be better off having more owners like Steve Cohen and Peter Seidler. They would phase out the bad owners like Robert Nutting and Tom Ricketts.
  22. It’s pretty obvious who I want… Any of the top 4 SS. Falvey needs to step up and win the bid.
