    Sure, it's fun to see a bunch of corner OF/1B/DH guys rake in the minors but is it really a great strategy? You need to really hit on a high number of them if you are eventually gong to trade them for pitching. It costs more at least 2 and more likely 3 of those type players to even sniff at decent ML pitching, and you still need to find a trade partner. I don't see it as any less risky than trying to draft and develop your own pitching even with the higher miss rate...

    They are also paying their insurance so the number will be higher than $2M. it's awesome to see the Twins org. step up. Will likely pay dividends down the road...

    Absolutely. If he holds to going year by year as a free agent, he is ideal for mid market teams. You don't get saddled paying for any more than 1 bad year at worst. As for the off field stuff, his team mates won't care if he produces on the field.

    I wasn't heartbroken he went to the Reds. Just because Kepler had his number for a bit doesn't mean he isn't a very good pitcher and Kepler would continue continue to hit bombs off of him...

    Just think how many millions of dollars a pitching coach who could consistently teach a pitcher to throw a good change up would be worth......

    I wish the other parts of his game were evaluated, i.e. defense and baserunning. It would give a more balanced look at his true value. People see the B.A. and get all excited, but he's a below average defender and doesn't have good speed.

    "The value to a team of a fire-throwing reliever versus a top-of-the-rotation starter can be debated." Uh, no. There is a reason that aces get paid a ton more and get longer contracts than a closer. They are a LOT more valuable.

    I would trade Berrios straight up for either Clevinger or Syndergaard.

    Outfield above average, infield below average, catching hopefully average. I'm pretty worried about SS and 2nd base.
