  1. "They basically won 72 games last year (69 pythag) with career years from Anderson, Moncada, and Giolito that could all see some regression" Well, the Twins had career years from Polanco, Kepler, Sano, Garver and although injury shortened, Buxton. You don't think any on them regress? I wouldn't be shocked to see Grandal have a higher WAR than Garver this year...
  2. well, if the bats suck, who do we need to get rid of out of the lineup?
  3. So we go from being way behind to passing all the other teams, including ones with way deeper pockets than the Twins, in 3 years?? uh, no........
  4. well, except they haven't used any 1st round picks on pitching.
  5. If they were going to do the bullpen model, they should have signed Smith.
  6. The Rays had 4 losing seasons before being good the last 2. the A's had 3 losing seasons before being good the last 2. They aren't consistently good.....
  7. Very few teams, if any, with a 130 million dollar payroll or less are going to have sustained success. The good players get expensive and it's over. So somehow this FO is going to find a magic formula to avoid that? BS. Give my a championship. You know what sticks in my mind? Hrbek and Gladden hitting a grand slams. Viola and Morris pitching great game 7's. Puckett's heroics in game 6. You know what i remember about the decade from 2000-2010? not much....
  8. They don't give parades for winning the AL central.... Ask a Vikings fan what they would give to win a Super bowl....
  9. Care to explain why you think this is going to happen? Garver going to OPS 1.000? I think we should expect a drop off from last year at the catcher position.
  10. Not angry, just really puzzled why the adjustments aren't being made early in his minor league career. It would be nice to have a top prospect hit the major leagues running and not have to spend multiple seasons of cheap control fixing what should have been fixed earlier.
  11. I don't want to get too off track with this post, but just to show how much the game has changed, the Twins pitching staff in 1991 averaged 5.4 K per 9 innings.. the 5 main starters that year were 5.9,5,4.8,3.4 and 6.6 K/9.
  12. He's basically had that swing since high school. Why haven't the Twins worked to fix it?
  13. Got any ideas what that means it terms of what they could provide and the Twins couldn't? Because it sure seems to happen a lot.....
  14. you need to define your definition of elite and give examples then. you keep moving the goalposts, IMO.
  15. For me it's Ryu or bust. If you are going to add a pitcher, add the one who has actually pitched like an ace recently. Yes, the injury concerns are real, but that's the gamble you take. The other ones left don't move the needle for me....
  16. Or Polanco..... It drives me nuts when people say a diuretic is a PED. It's not. It doesn't make you faster or stronger. It's not a stimulant. It makes you pee, a lot. that's it.
  17. Because we have no track record of being able to do so? The Twins need a proven ace, period.
  18. His dWAR was -.6 in the 92 games he played. Just by he eye test, he looked to be a below average defender too, IMO. He'll have to continue to hit to make up for that. The league will adjust to him, will he be able to adjust back? We are going to find out...
  19. The Braves got out to a fast start on the relievers market this season, adding Will Smith and bringing back Chris Martin. That is along the lines of what fans wanted the Twins to do last season, but the Twins decided to stick with their same bullpen and it ultimately paid off until the games meant something. FIFY.
