  1. There were a total of 2,214 bases stolen in 2021 out of 2429 games played, or less than one stolen base per game. on the other hand there are on average 140 pitches thrown per game. a catcher with good arm who can throw base stealers out impacts approximately 1 to 3 outcomes per game, but a good pitch framer (or bad) impacts dozens of outcomes per game, potentially 3-4 outs per game, maybe more. Stolen bases per season are trending down, pitches per game are trending up. a good pitch framer is way more valuable than a good arm. as evidenced by the games caught, Jeffers is as the vastly superior framer has caught 28 games to Sanchez’s 19. Jeffers is a top 10 catcher by OAA vs Sanchez is in the 25-35 range (league average) Jeffers is #1 and should be
  2. wRC+ puts hitters on a 100=average scale based on run contribution as an attempt at a wholistic hitting stat. For reference CJ Cron has a 154 wRC+, Lamont Wade 119 wRC+ Cruz 87 wRC+ it’s a new paradigm in the new dead ball era. Batting average/OPS have significantly shifted this year.
  3. On the Covid IL because Celestino should be back soon, outfield depth will be bolstered, I’d bring up Lewis for the offensive spark.
  4. Right, but there’s too many Duffeys and Pagans, Need more Durans and Smiths
  5. Duffey has -1.09 WPA, .491 ERA and 33% HR/FB. He has had some improved outings lately, but has not shed his low leverage label from me, yet
  6. Celestino is on the Covid IL. He did not get demoted to AAA
  7. I really like how you phrased this. Individual perception based on their lived experience is real, and how people make their decisions. We all do. Inflationary effects are also perceptive. Inflation gets thrown around as this 2% or 5% or 8% of GDP, but it does not effect all products equally, so individuals feel it differently. We all make our decisions based on our individual experiences.
  8. From a fan watch-ability standpoint I agree, from a winning strategy standpoint, disagree. Even a mediocre but fresh reliever is better than a good but tired starter
