  1. Back by “popular demand” it’s Shopping with the Enemy. I found myself wondering, what is a Guardian, and what does it have to do with the city of Cleveland? What better way to learn, than through the enemy’s pro shop? initially, the only clues received were a C or a G. of course single letters without context don’t paint a very vivid picture, so my quest for knowledge continued… I then found The Guardian, and apparently it’s a dinosaur there you have it. Apparently Cleveland is known for T. Rex
  2. Looking at the Donaldson/Correa situation, I assume if the FO had extended Berrios to whatever that $100+M extension might have been, it would have come at the expense of not extending Buxton. Agreed with others that we won’t be able to judge for years, but currently the pitching pipeline is starting to deliver and it hurts less (right now) and I’m really happy to have Buxton extended (right now). TBD, but so far, so good.
  3. IKR! @Melissa Berman really ground out that at bat! The full Luis Arraez experience in excellent prose.
  4. They don’t “have to”, it’s much faster, but the drive up the Wisconsin 35 following the Mississippi and St Croix through those river valleys is one of the prettiest drives you’ll take. “The Flood Run” motorcycle tour is beautiful
  5. Tornadoes on the ground in SW MN, be safe Twins fans, listen to the game from the basement if you hear sirens

  7. In a very special Shopping with the Enemy, you too can cheat with the best of them first we have the weapon of choice for this series’ enemy Unfortunately the matching drum stick isn’t available for Astros fans (I wonder why) but you can make due with this billiard cue you can also get creative sending in game text messages with this fashionable branded case
  8. I think it’s time to mash the accelerator on my Celestino fandom
  9. Relief pitching has generally been good. Agreed that they could use another high leverage arm, but that is also a talent that can be found internally. I think it’ll be Archer because… Im worried the rotation will run out of gas in August. Minor leaguers don’t usually provide that late season boost because they play shorter seasons and Archer isn’t really stretching out. I’d look to see if they could swing a trade. A bench bat/DH seems like a need, but Arraez also could be that if Lewis and Miranda stick.
  10. To @Trov’s point, just like actual theft, base stealing deterrence is way more effective at mitigating runs than actually catching steals. It’s not a great measurement at any sample size.
  11. Very good point, and makes a more clear impact of the depth discussion. If the Twins still had Rogers, they’d have more depth in the bullpen. However that depth wouldn’t come at the expense of innings for Pagan and Duffey (yet) which is where most of the bullpen blow-ups have happened thus far. Relief pitchers are so volatile, there does need to be a level of fungibility. Especially for a team that can’t afford to eat very many $10m contracts
  12. Agreed the Twins have 3 blown saves in 7 save opportunities (as of 5/5) the Padres have 4 blown saves in 15 opportunities. That would be 1.2 more wins on the young season. where I think it might help is increasing the depth of the Twins bullpen. They might have another save opportunity or two added on, with a couple extra holds. https://sports.betmgm.com/en/blog/mlb/most-blown-saves-mlb-2022-sgc/
