  1. So there’s 5 catchers listed in Wichita Scouting the stats Alex Isola is having himself a season! .848 OPS with 5 homers in 30 games so far for Wichita as a 23 year old. He’s playing some 1B and DH too, but I suppose w/ 5 Cs ya gotta get innings somehow Pretty much everyone else looks mid 20s journeyman-like at Windsurge and Saints.
  2. I need to do some research! Maybe that is why Garver and Rortvedt were expendable….
  3. They have 4 catchers on the roster? Unreal! You’d almost have to see 2 of them every game
  4. Cherry pick your stats and they prove your narrative, no? Garlick mashes lefties and Baldelli keeps trotting him out there against lefties
  5. On the left is a stamped 1991 Twins team ball, on the right Kent Hrbek signed.
  6. I’m with you on the rotation. Also very interested in some of the unknowns churning through the bullpen, if they can take some higher leverage innings. Also agreed with you and the OP, take care of business against the division first
  7. Bourbon is regulated by the ATF in the US, not outside the US. Someone could (and probably does) buy a crapload of Bourbon, blend it off with ethanol and water, and label it as Bourbon again. This type of thing happens all over the world in countries that don’t protect Ip. It’s very rare to hear of ATF raids on material being imported into the US, but it happens (before clearing customs) Scotch, Bourbon or Wagyu, if it’s surprisingly cheap, it’s probably not as advertised
  8. USDA regulates US Farm agriculture products. There are laws that regulate these types of things in the US, including the tolerances of fat to lean in ground beef (80/20 can be 81/19 or 79/21 for instance) but it does not regulate Wagyu claims. Wagyu is Japanese agriculture.
  9. I looked up paraconsistent logic and the google machine tells me that it is related to “studying and developing ‘inconsistency-tolerant’ logic systems” that must be how I survive being a moderator here at TD. I’m very inconsistency tolerant
  10. Come to think of it… I had a grilled chicken salad for lunch too! I smell a trend… and possibly chicken shortages in Twins Territory soon
  11. Is fantasy baseball relevant to quality of actual baseball? im not saying there isn’t room to improve. There is always room to improve. My argument is that Jeffers is better than Sanchez and Jeffers is underrated as a catcher by several posters in the thread. On baseball savant, Jeffers is 5th in catcher framing runs. Sanchez is 29 (league average too), Garver is 33 (also league average) on fangraphs wRC+ leaderboard filtered for catchers, standard 60 plate appearances, Jeffers is ranked 20. Sanchez is 23 (as a catcher). Garver is 14. While that’s not “bad”, it certainly could be better. Trading away Garver wasn’t a huge drop off so far. There’s lots of season left. Bullpen is a much higher priority for me and cheaper to get.
  12. Thanks for correcting my false assumption
  13. That article was published before the season started and was based on projections
  14. Sanchez has caught 19 games - 12 stolen bases on 19 games is .63. Jeffers has caught 29 games- 14 stolen bases on 29 games is .48. Same with wild pitches 4 on 19 is .21 vs 5 on 29 is .17. 2/19 vs 2/29 Sanchez hasn’t been the butcher we think of, but Jeffers is vastly superior behind the plate
  15. Right, and quarter of a season is small sample, three weeks is a hot streak… also, Catcher’s fielding matters more than any other position. Sanchez this season hasn’t been the butcher he has been, career to date, also very small sample. 18 games isn’t near enough to draw a conclusion different than history.
  16. More doubleheaders?! Wouldn’t that make this worse?
  17. I’m relieved it wasn’t related to the repair done to his knee, but disappointed that he’s going to miss some time. He’s played so well and would be a huge asset for the team right now. get better soon Royce!
  18. Sanchez’s wRC+ is 105. It’s weighted by field and position and half of his at bats have been as DH, but it doesn’t appear that his hitting has been significantly better than the average catcher. Jeffers’ wRC+ is 88, so it’s safe to say he has been slightly to significantly below average with the bat. I think it’s fair to say that Sanchez hits significantly better than Jeffers
