  1. Nice win! I won't call it a great win just a nice one. The following games is what is going to determine if the offense is really turning it around. The fact that the White Sox gave away the game doesn't mean we broke a slump. The offense scored 2 basically free runs. Twins only had 5 hits and the offense was very anemic again! I'm very happy that all the central division clubs, including the Twins, are hovering around .500. I think that bodes well for the Twins if they can get their offense to play in sinc with the great starting pitching we have gotten. If that happens soon the rest of the central had better watch out for the Twins. The last three games the Twins have lost 2-0, won 1-0 and won 2-1. The fact they won two of those games is amazing and a tribute to the starting pitching. If we can continue to get consistent solid starting pitching, and if the bats ever wake up, it could really be fun. Today is a big game in Twins trying to turn the corner. A solid win would help!
  2. I'm not a big fan of Bremer but you got to give him credit. He has a great voice, is extremely knowledgeable and laid back. He's not a shout in your face loud mouth like some others. I really like that about him. I do find him way too home ish at times. Like Twins trailing 8-0, have made 3 errors only only have 3 hits yet he tells us they are playing great. He tends to bend over backwards not to criticize players or managers. I understand he has to deal with those people everyday so it's safe to be non critical on air. And no I don't like the guys who question everything a player does. Or the player analyst in the booth that acts like they never made a mistake on the field. I do miss Bert on there with Bremer. The color commentators on there now are pretty bland. Even though I don't like his style, Dick Bremer is a true professional. He has been a true ambassador to the Twins. I hope he stays for as long as he wants. He's earned that.
  3. Still need to get our offense going. We should have taken at least two of three against a poor Royals team. I believe we scored 4 runs in 3 games against some questionable pitchers. Plus we have only scored 1 run in the past 18 innings. Last year we were told in April that it's too early to worry. Yet we only won 9 games in April. Then proceeded to finish last by end of the year. They told us games in April and May don't matter because it's too early. They are telling us the same thing this year. The great starting pitching we are getting is being wasted. The starters will level off at some point. We have guys being paid a lot of money to hit. If the Twins can ever get good hitting and pitching together at the same time, watch out. Our "defense"? That's another issue.
  4. Great game by Ryan. He looks to be the real deal. Did anyone notice that our offense only scored 1 run? Actually that is 1 run in the past 18 innings. Still waiting for some our star hitters to start hitting.
  5. Well one of Baldellis jobs is to motivate the team. For the past year + this team has played, listless, uninspiring, boring and bad baseball. Yes that is the managers fault. You are right. He can't hit for them. But he can I still a team atmosphere. It's obvious that letting the analytics computer manage the team isn't working. Remember the Twins finished last place in 2021 and played very bad ball. Also I don't know how you give Correa a break for his poor start. They are paying him $35 million this year. What's wrong with expecting him to produce at least somewhat how his career has gone? I'm so tired of Baldelli telling us how well his team has played and is following the plan. We all appreciate the start the starting pitching has had. But I think we are all realistic and realize they aren't good enough to sustain throughout a long season. At the moment this team is a mess. Buxton should have been put on the 10 day DL a week ago. Just wasted an opening for someone else to try. Your best hitter Arraez needs to be in there everyday. People counting on Buxton to get back and carry this team the rest of the year are going to be disappointed again. Twins should have swept KC.
  6. This boy has a chance to be one of the best??? Are you kidding? There's some decent pieces but mediocre at best. And with Baldelli not knowing who to send out in certain situations is further indication he doesn't have a clue.
  7. Excellent take on Sano at third and Crohn at first and then signing Donaldson. I agree with that assesment
  8. Very nice win. Much needed. Before I get too excited Twins need to continue at KC. Twins need to win at least 2 of 3 or preferably sweep the Royals. While the Twins offense had a decent day, let's not forget they were facing an old pitcher that struggled hitting 80 on the speed gun. Not a real good test. However if they can start hitting regularly they may have a chance. If the bats go silent again against the Royals, it could be a long season. .
  9. Come on. He's Byron Buxton. He's going to get hurt that's who and what he is unfortunately. You just have to run him out to center field as often as possible. The DH argument is ludicrous and really not even worthy of an article on Twins Daily.
  10. But the twins are not winning and Sano is hitting around .080. so there! Twins hitting like .182 as a team. As a Twins fan what's discouraging is that they are playing very listless, uninspiring baseball. If any of you can listen to Rocco saying things like we are just trying to stay in games, more power to you! This is the major leagues. Winning is the most important team goal when you are here. If the manager is here only to pamper his players and try to stay close in the game it confirms my belief that Baldelli isn't concerned about winning. You can see it in the players. Today I expect Twins to win as they are facing Rich Hill. I then am expecting them to sweep Royals or at least take two of three before coming home to face the White Sox. We simply cannot fall to far behind the race like last year. Yes it's early, only 9 games in. But I believe those 9 games count. Didn't they?
  11. Twins lost 4-0. I thought I would mention that as some people talk as if they won. I am very glad individually for Larnach and Winder but at this level bottom line is win ing. Twins are 3-5. Not good.
  12. Baldelli completely mis manges his bullpen. If the analytic computer is doing that for him then they shou both be gone lol. Ryan looked great. I was surprised Baldelli didn't take him out after 4 innings. Nice victory. Aareaz is terrible at third and has shown that for quite sometime. The great Garlick? Yes Fenway is a tough park to play in but come on this is major league baseball. No excuse for butchering a play like that. Hope Buxton isn't out too long.
  13. Yes of course it's early. Remember last year? They kept telling us don't worry it's early. They never did recover and finished 16 games under and finished in last place. So far the starting pitching has been better than anticipated. But it's early there too. The offense has been poor so far entering Fridays game with Boston the team is hitting .181. it's early there too. Our $35 million dollar shortstop is hitting around .200. while Buxton has 3 Homer's he is also hitting just above 200 and tied for the team lead in strikeouts. The team as a whole has the second worst strikeout rate only to the Orioles. Our best average hitter, Aareaz at around .313 doesn't play much because of Baldelli and his analytics computer managing. And maybe because Aareaz has no position. He can't field. He looks totally lost at third base. Team defense is horrendous. Too many errors and too many plays that should have been made but weren't counted as errors. Yes it's early there too. And in reality it is early. I'm hopeful they take the Boston series then sweep the royals on KC. I agree, April schedule is tough! We need to get through it around .500 and feast on a weak may schedule. Last year after 7 games we were 5-2. This year 3-4. Let's hope Buxton isn't out long. Remember it's early. Poor baseball in April doesn't matter. Right? That's what they told us last year right to the end of the season. Come on Twins. A contending, twins team makes for a great summer!
  14. Like it or not I'm sure Sano is here through this season. We are stuck with him. I surely don't see any circumstance they pick up his option for next year. When the season is done he will have hit 20-30 home runs. Some of them meaningful and a couple of them mammoth shots. He will have struck out about 33% of his at bats. He is what he is. Unfortunately he is very frustrating to watch. Maybe this weekend he will set a new Twins all time record. Currently he is 0-19 to start the season. The Twins all time record to start the season is 0-21. Go Sano
  15. I agree with the comments about putting in a c lineup on getaway day. Twins have a long history with that back to TK. I heard Correa didn't play because it was his scheduled day off. Good grief! Barely a week in and he needs a day off? They have Thursday off already. Don't put a c lineup in at home. If you need to do it, do it on the road. People pay money to watch your team at home. To not put your best lineup possible out there at home is signalling you don't care. Baldelli obviously gave Dodgers the game before it even started. What a joke.
  16. I totally agree with the comment the game is killing itself. Statheads rejoice!! You and the metric brand have made MLB virtually unwatchable. It's turned into a giant, boring video game. Attendance and broadcast ratings are down all over. It's been on a steep decline since the metric era. As far as watching it on tv you can't even get the games for most of us for the past year and a half. Bring back the real MLB before it's too late. Get rid of shifts, the ghost runner, no time clocks, stop announcing launch angles, spin rates etc and telling us how the computer is playing the game and then trying to tell us why our team finished 16 games under .500. Please for the grand days of real baseball.
  17. Are the wheels coming off already? They are 2-4 and in last place. Sound familiar? 4 games coming in Boston. It's too early to panic right? Starting pitching so far has been decent. Hitting has been poor. Then our great manager totally mismanages the lineup and bullpen. Why was Correa not playing? It was his scheduled day off. My good ness, one week in and the 35 million player needs a day off. They have a day off already Thursday. Then we blame losses, at least in part on the weather. My god the weather didn't effect the Dodgers? They seemed to handle it ok. What's wrong with just admitting they are better. Because they are. They are loaded. It's hard to imagine how or why they ever lose. Kirilloff situation is definitely problematic. The recurring injury may derail his career. The fact that he didn't keep the Twins informed about his playing through pain is inexcusable. Hope Larnach can handle it.
  18. I agree with you! The new generation of baseball gods don't realize or care that their new game is boring and it's destroying the game. MLB attendance and tv ratings has been on the decline for the past few years. It's a well known fact:. Look it up. The current version of MLB is nearly unwatchable. Baldeis Twins even more so!!
  19. To me that's why I have problems with Baldelli. He's locked in to his pregame plan and is unwilling and/ or incapable of making in game adjustments. With all the money spent and players added it will be interesting to see how long of a leash he has. Yes he won two division titles his first two years. But everything went right then. Players had career years. Now that things don't go perfectly we can see his style. It's boring childish baseball. Today as Baldelli follows his script, the Twins will lose to Dodgers to fall to 2-4. The bottom line at the major league level is to win games.there isn't other level for players to progress to. This is it. It isn't meant to be a minor league playground for players to develop.
  20. It's kind of convenient to blame the weather for the bullpens struggles. It seems to me it was raining when the Dodgers were pitching. They didn't walk 9. They didn't implode. The bullpen blew it, plain and simple. It happens. Let's try to win today. Maybe Arraez can pitch lol
  21. I admit I was wrong. Looks like a regular lineup today. I'm glad. I see Aareaz is starting at second base today and Polanco is starting at shortstop. Did Correa get hurt last night? He left the game a little early last night. Does anyone know why Correa isn't in the starting lineup today?
  22. Felt sorry for Winder. Very difficult circumstances to throw him out against such a good team in crummy weather in his debut. Stupid for Baldelli not to use him in one of the four games against Mariners for his MLB debut. Good first game for Archer. He looked good. It's going to be interesting to see today's starting lineup. With Baldellis propensity to sit players and baby his favorite players, I wouldn't be surprised to see the batboys in there.
  23. Yes Arraez definitely needs to be in the regular lineup as much as possible. Nothing wrong with being DH. As Gladden says you've got to have one of your best hitters in the lineup regularly whether it's against a lefty or righty. Arraez is a very good hitter currently without a position. My opinion is he fits best at second. But that's not workable since that's Polanco spot. Outfield? Only in an emergency. I don't like him at third. Baldellis analytics not withstanding, he can be brutal there defensively. Why not DH him regularly? He certainly has earned that.
  24. I absolutely hate " pitch framing ". I think it's unprofessional and demeaning to the home plate umpire. And believe me I'm no fan of major league home plate umpires. I've talked to college and high school umpires that don't like it either. Some of them have told me that if the catcher is "pulling" pitches in the strike zone it only proves the pitch is a ball. I've been told and have seen in the past that a catcher is more likely to get a questionable close pitch if he holds glove steady and pitcher hits the glove. Ball and strikes are difficult. I am not in favor of computerized ball and strike calling. I am in favor of getting rid of pitch framing and it's stats. Also shame on the umpires that are fooled by these catchers.
  25. Nice smooth win last night. Too bad there was only 12,000 in the stands. Attendance around the league in general is down so far. Very few opening day sellouts which was always a gimme on opening day. But that's a discussion for another time. Nice win. Solid pitching. We survived 3 errors and two guys thrown out at home. Strange sending Sano to score when he had no chance. And we had our 35 million dollar superstar ss scheduled to bat next. But nice to win. Go Twins. Dodgers and Red Sox next.
