  1. "See honey? This is why we can't have nice things. Every time I take you to the club you make me run over the nice policeman." -Miguel at 3am Those wives. They'll get you every time
  2. ESPN just released an updated report. Apparently he isn't going to be charged. Backed as he was leaving the club and then drove the officer to the hospital. Whether it's true or not who knows, but that's the current story. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/24931089/minnesota-twins-miguel-sano-face-charges-accident-police-say I do find it interesting that there's no mention of gunshots in this account.
  3. A team that wants to win a title and thinks that they are just a 2B who plays solid defense and could give you 20+ homers away from winning it?
  4. I really don’t know what you’re looking for here. All I’m saying is that in my completely personal, not binding on anyone else opinion, I believe Perez to be one of the best in baseball. You don’t have to agree. More importantly I don’t care. I do however apologize that such an innocuous statement got you so riled up. My bad. Moving on
  5. I want a catcher to at least break even when it comes to costing your team runs defensively. This season Realmuto has the exact same number of defensive runs saved as Bobby Wilson.... In 31 more games. I'm not sure I want more Bobby Wilson-esque defense. I never said you couldn't argue that Realmuto is the best catcher in the league. I don't think he is, but you can argue it. Just as I can do the same with Perez and you don't have to agree with it. Until Realmuto shows that he's just as good behind the plate as he is in the batters box I'm going to have to take a hard pass on crowning him best catcher in the league.
  6. You've got your opinion I've got mine. My initial post seemed pretty innocuous for you to go straight to terminator mode
  7. If you mean the Salvy Perez who is just as good historically with his bat and also has 28 defensive runs saved over his career as opposed to Realmuto's negative 14drs (that's a 42 run difference btw) then yeah. I think I could argue that Perez is the better all around catcher. If we're just pulling at a down year to discuss then let's go to 2014 for Realmuto. Only had a 267obp and 611ops that year. This season is the first time he's ever had an OPS over 800 and we're only half way home. There are such things as slumps. Also, Salvy is 28. Realmuto is 27. Not like we're saving much on age here.
  8. I would actually argue for Salvy Perez but that's more picking apples as opposed to oranges. Can't actually disagree with your point. Carry on.
  9. Having a "no one is off limits" operating model is exactly how the tigers ended up where they are now. An old team with nothing really in the pipeline to replace the aging stars of yesteryear. If you're cool with attempting to restock the system every 3 years that's fine, but I would like to at least keep a modicum of stability. I'm not trading 3 or 4 great prospects for 2 years of somebody else. Maybe 1 great and a couple good, but there are a couple of guys who in my opinion are definitely untouchable
  10. I didn't get a chance to watch the game but it definitely seemed that they were trying to hit him. Had something happened earlier in the game that this was retaliation for?
  11. Hitting coaches: Ft. Myers is Steve Singleton. Javier Valentin for Double A. Chad Allen for Rochester. I will say that Borrego at Ft. Myers is the only Latino manager the twins have and he was the field Manager of our Dominican Academy in 2009, which if memory serves was around the time Migs was drafted. Maybe they A) think that a manager who can speak directly to him and not through an interpreter will help. Or maybe Miguel actually played for Borrego in the DR.
  12. He's just going by tailgate etiquette rule #1. "If it's free, it's for me"
  13. I've heard the same joke although in that version it was the guy getting kidney stones
  14. They didn't need to sign Chris Carter to provide Sano with an example. If they want to point at a player and simply say "that's how hard you should be working." they can just point at Escobar. This is a guy who's nowhere near as physically talented as Sano but he gets playing time because he's earned the trust of the coaches by going out there, busting his butt and producing no matter where they put him or what they ask him to do. He also understands that he has to work for everything he wants. I'm losing confidence that Sano is ever going to put it all together because I'm not sure that he is capable of that type of introspective thought at this point.
  15. The real question is who loves you more? Your dog? Or your spouse? There's an easy test. Put them both in the trunk of your car. Open it after 1 hour. Which one is happy to see you? Case Closed.
  16. That dog is defending his owners beer WITH HIS LIFE!!!!!!! Cat wouldn't do that
  17. All of this is true. It's true because unlike dogs, cats don't care about you. They don't beg for food because they think you owe it to them. The little scamps wouldn't pee on you if you were burning.
  18. First I want to say that while I feel this was a necessary move on the teams part and that I'm glad they made it, I also want to say that I'm sorry to see Phil go. One thing we can't say about Hughes is that he didn't do his best to help the team win. It can't be easy going out there knowing that you're not as good as you used to be but to his credit I don't remember one report or even a rumor that he was not putting in 100% or that he was a bad teammate. He was going out there every time and busting his butt for his team even if the results just weren't what you would want them to be. I wish Phil the best of luck with whatever he does in the future both in baseball and just life in general.
  19. I don't think he was "totally safe" but I also don't think there was enough evidence there for them to overturn the initial call. That should've been a prime example of the call "standing" rather than being confirmed or overturned
  20. That curve is what a major league hitter's nightmares are made of. Need a pressure washer to clean off because that thing is FILTHY
  21. If Romero keeps pitching the way he has been then I think his rotation spot is a safe as it can be. You're not replacing a guy who's putting basically zeros up on the board every time he takes the mound
