Thanks for all that information. I drove past Beloit about 45 minutes before the first game was scheduled to start. It was 51 degrees with a bright sun and not a cloud around. I was certain the would get the double header in. Might have been better for the official report to read "wet grounds" rather than rained out! But maybe they don't do that.

You didn't mention the biggest hit for Chattanooga, Eric. Rooker didn't have multiple hits, but he did hit his first home run of the year. Then 1-for-3 in the nightcap for a very positive day at the plate. Maybe that will be the start of his getting his bat going at AA.

Thought Morrison hit a couple hard balls. Recall one, don't recall the inning, that was a hard line drive to center. Could just as easily been a double as an out. Anyway, hitting a couple hard is a start! And IMO, Berrios is an ACE. Expect most will agree come the end of 2018. Could our entire outfield be on the DL in the next couple days? I assume Buxton's DL stint was back dated to last week Friday. So he should be able to come off after the TB series.

Is this the first time since TD was formed that your pitcher and hitter of the day both had names starting with Z? And I see that Wiel was in left field yesterday. Saw it was DH the other day. Is also playing some first base? Not worried about Rooker. He just needs to switch to one of Wiel's extra bats.

It is great seeing Duffy doing well, especially in long relief. If he can build on this, he could be a key man in the Twins pen later this summer. Come in for anywhere from a couple batters to 3 or so innings. With the move up to AAA, expect to see Romero be a work in process for the first half dozen starts or so. By mid-May, he should be a fine tuned clock!

No where near enough baseball this spring as evidenced by having only three of your top 20 playing on a Sunday. Zander Wiel has always been an interesting prospect, if maybe a bit of a sleeper. Sure looks like he is off to a great start this year. Must say I am a bit surprised seeing him hit in the #3 spot, especially in that lineup. Expect the Vandy product is comfortable playing back in Tennessee.

I see that Tyler Jay is on the DL, again. Any word on what it is and how long he is expected to be out? Twins can't get a break with this guy.

Way to early to know what fall will bring. If he has a healthy season and does relatively well, expect they will sit down and iron out a one or two year deal. Don't see either side wanting to go longer than two. Is Joe going to move his family away from Lake Minnetonka in the summer...no way. He re-signs with the Twins or retires.

Is anyone else as upset as I that minor league baseball has decided to change the rules of the game beginning with the 10th inning. That decision is absolute horse 'you know what,' in my opinion.

And can you believe that I forgot to include Lewis in that group...so its a nice fivesome! And that doesn't include Enlow or a couple guys waiting in the wings in EST...namely, Javier and Graterol.

What a nice foursome at Cedar Rapids, Kiriloff, Bechtold, Rortvedt and Baddoo. Although Baddoo's bat hasn't come to life yet, the other three are ripping the cover off the ball. Will be great if all four can move to Florida later this summer, then on to the Twins by sometime in 2020. Should be our next wave of replacements who won together throughout the minors.

It has to be tough for all of the Rochester pitchers...and those from other northern IL teams. They broke camp in Florida, what 8-10 days ago? And hadn't played an inning until last night for Mejia and Romero. Expect we are gonna see lots of so-so first couple starts for many of these guys. And Romero's outing was still a very good one.

Have a question for Twins Daily, Seth. I like having the 'Like This' that you can click on to show your support for a given comment. What about having the opposite of that also, ie, a "Don't like" you can also click to show your dislike of a comment? Nothing in this post for me to dislike, but there sure are lots of examples throughout the week!

Haven't been a fan of Stewart the past few years as he hasn't become the pitcher one would hope for from a #4 overall pick. Must say that last night was encouraging, but just one night. Hopefully, he will put it together all year and EARN a 40-man roster spot this fall. Did I read correctly, Seth, that Rochester has double headers on May 25 and 27? Ouch. Hopefully their starting rotation is healthy going into that weekend. Was great seeing Rortvedt back in action after his injury scare a couple games ago. And what's up with Blankenhorn? Can't keep this up, but maybe he will become the player we hoped for when drafted out of high school.

Like the addition, Seth. I guess you would call Hughes outing what, ok? Was good that he got thru 5 innings and isn't injured. Hopefully, he will get us thru until Santana comes back. But it is starting to look like that will be June rather than May. Waiting for Romero and Thorpe to make their first starts!

This team is loaded, Seth. Although there won't be a lot of need if not to many Twins get injured, I suspect a couple of these guys will see some action at Target Field. The question is, who? The popular choices are probably Gordon and Jay. And I do expect both will get called up by September at the latest, after the Southern League Championship. But I am going to pick another position player who I think we will see before August 31, Rooker. Although none of us knows what type of year he is going to have, there is a good chance he has a huge summer...forcing the Twins to bring him up.

Thanks Seth. Was great hearing about Leach. Also saw that the Bray and Rinn came over in trades. Haven't seen anything on what the Twins gave up to get them?- 34 replies

Article: Twins Rotation Is Starting Strong
rdehring replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Haven't checked this, but I assume the Twins starting staff has the best ERA in the majors. Yes, I know it is only three games. I'll repeat that, it is only three games. But this was exciting. Were the first 8 innings from Berrios yesterday the best start of his career? Expect first game out he ran out of gas a bit in the 9th. I don't see any #5 pitchers in this group (once Santana is back). Rather see a couple #3's, a couple #2's and one legitimate ACE. Who knows, maybe this group will pitch the Twins to the promised land! Now before responding to my excitement, please go back and read my second and third sentences!- 22 replies

Article: Season Preview: Kyle Gibson
rdehring replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Boy do the Twins need him to start the season like he finished last year. It is so important to win this opening series to get the season off on the right foot. And after that tough loss Thursday, you can't win this series without Gibby getting it done today. I really want to be excited about him this year. Please don't disappoint me, again! -
Seeing Mauer is #1 on this list, got me thinking. What will it take for him to have a good chance of getting into the Hall of Fame? I doubt that his chances are great if this is his last year. What do I see him doing to improve his chances? First, getting a gold glove at his second position...which he should have gotten last year. Second, one more season with an average above .300. And finally, I think he needs to get at least 2,500 hits. Assuming he ends this year with +/- 2,150, that would mean he would likely have to play at least another two years, probably three. I think he merits membership. Hopefully, he makes it!

Article: Twins Daily 2018 Twins Predictions
rdehring replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have a question for those picking Romero as Rookie of the Year. Which of the starting five (Berrios, Santana, Gibson, Odorizzi or Lynn) do you see him replacing? Or do you see him coming up and pitching out of the pen? My picks are: Record 94-68, finishing 1st in the Central Division. They then win the first round of the playoffs, however, lose the ALCS in 7 games. Offensive Player of the Year: Eddie Rosario Most Home Runs: Eddie Rosario Starting Pitcher: Lance Lynn Relief Pitcher: Gabriel Moya Rookie of the Year: Gabriel Moya -

rdehring replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Interesting how there is no long man in the bullpen. Understand that Hughes is penciled in to come off the DL and start on April 11. If he isn't ready, is Duffey the likely choice to come up? So they have delayed their decision of what to do with one of Moya, Kinley or someone else for two weeks. Even if they have an injury, still have that decision to get the 5th starter/long man onto the roster.- 37 replies
