  1. Angels play 4 games against the White Sox beginning next week, at the same time the Twins will have 3 against Cleveland. That's a dangerous stretch. Liked how Molly freaked at signs of disaster yesterday with Mejia and pulled 'em. This is essentially playoff baseball at this point, wins are more important that building character right now. Don't take the Tigers lightly, they lead our season series 7-6 right now and can beat the Twins on a given day. Just win. Looks like the Twins are going to have to hit their way into the playoffs, scoring 12 last night was a good start.
  2. For as frustrating as it's been for Twins fans the past few days, the Angels fans have to be pretty peeved watching their team struggle to take advantage of the huge door the Twins opened while in NYC.
  3. Twins are pretty much in "must win" mode. Mejia hasn't earned himself much of a leash, given his recent history. With a lead on the road, it appears Molly's going for the win today, and will worry about tomorrow...tomorrow.
  4. Escobar cost us a run by fouling out with the bases loaded and 1 out. Absosmurfly amazing how many of those gimme runs this team refuses to take. They don't have the ability to make "good outs".
  5. 7 games against Detroit left. 7 games against Detroit left. Keep repeating that mantra. That said, hasn't Detroit kind of battered the Twins this year? I know it would hurt to play a WC game in the Bronx....but can we please stop pretending that making the playoffs is just a bonus to a nice lil' year? Please Twins, don't blow this. Not now. Not after the white flag trade, the comeback, the Buxton emergence, and holding the WC lead for so darn long here. Sneak out of NYC with a win today, and don't look back. A sweep at this time of year is just killer.
  6. Yikes. A game up on the Angels, one more game against Josh Donaldson today and have 3 games in the Bronx looming. If anyone's watched Mejia over the past coupla years, he looked probably just like you thought he'd look - rusty and not good. The Twins really need to get him pitching more efficiently. Maybe start by watching Bartolo or better yet Erv. Fielding woes are really sinking the Twins this series. Where are those bats? Did the Twins waste all their fire power during that 17-0 drubbing early this week? A win today would really steady the ship before the plane ride to NYC. Need this one today fellas!
  7. Rogers, Duffey, Boshers, Perkins - not sure you can win a Wild Card spot with three guys like that waiting to give away the game night after night. High praise to the offense for once again busting it open late! Glad the Twins keep finding ways to win! Would love to see J.O.Berrios go deep tonight, I predict 8 innings of 1-run ball. Hand it to Presley for the 9th, or give Perk a shot if we're up by 5 runs or more. Where's Sano?
  8. Agreed - thanks for these write-ups, it's great as I've been unable to watch the games lately. Thanks again for doing this.
  9. Dude's going to get like 75 RBI this year. Crazy for a utility-guy. Love Escobar, heart and soul of the team.
  10. Wasn't watching but had gamecast on in the background while I was booking some flights online. Saw the Twins putting runners on base after the HR in the 9th and was feeling very cheery - happy about my trip up to MSP this weekend and happy about the Twins making a comeback! Then I see it's game over and we blew it. Got mad. Realized I'll be traveling almost all day Sunday and missing all the NFL action. Everything looks bleak, life sucks, etc. Darn Twins. Bartolo with another gem, though. Dude's gonna give the Twins a chance to win every time, it seems. Too bad about the 'pen. Twins need Sano back in there.
  11. Agreed. Starts out with the always cringe-worthy: "I'm not too good at this social media thing"....oh boy, heeeere we go. Then goes on to call everyone who criticizes his column Cinnabon-eating cowards and trolls. Epic meltdown.
  12. Isn't Castro back now? And wasn't the whole point of signing Giminez to add a "steady presence" behind the plate defensively? The Twins came off a rough September series, they're on the road with a young pitcher in an absolutely huge pressure game, and Molitor opts to put the rookie catcher back there? I don't get the decision. The good news is that the Twins still are hanging on to that wildcard. Bartolo, we'll be watching tonight and we'd like to see a huge game from ya, big man!
  13. Sano needs to get back ASAP. He'd help that situation in a heartbeat, allowing a guy like Vargas or Escobar or whomever to be available to PH. Alas, Sano won't be back for at least another week. BIG SERIES in Tampa and another BIG SERIES in KC. Gonna be a make-or-break week.
  14. Hmmm, okay the Twins have some work to do here. When's Bux coming back? Tomorrow please?
  15. I heard that on the last broadcast too! I was thinking "Don't jinx it, don't jinx it"... Huge series here against KC. Hurry up and get back, Miguel Sano!
  16. When you're mounting a huge comeback on the road in the thick of the playoff race late in the season, and John Curtiss is your best option in the 'pen...well, that's not good.
  17. More fantasy points if he bunts and the gets the SB. In my opinion, that catch wasn't Buxton's "finest catch" but I'm not complaining! Is Buxton the Twins' best player right now?
  18. Polanco is abso-smurfly on fire. Eddie Rosario is the best pure hitter on the team these days! When the Twins can get contributions for guys like that they're hard to beat. And hey, how 'bout that Kennys Vargas!?!?
  19. Boshers blew the game last night, maybe Perkins' farewell parade can come at his expense. This game was an eye opener. Reminds one of when the Twins played Houston and the LA Dodgers - the Twins are not in the Indians' class and unfortunately it looked like both teams knew it last night. Amazing play by Sano! That was seriously Machado-esque, I cannot say enough about this kid's play at 3b this year. Buxton's gem and early RBI, I think we can expect a torrid September from him once again.
  20. Could not agree more, Van. Watching Perkins waltz into the bullpen wearing his "free pass" hometown boy Gopher t-shirt under his uniform? No thank you. It's sort of like the Phillies and Ryan Howard. He did some good things for this team, but when a guy's out of gas you gotta DFA him and just let someone else take a flyer if they want. He's toast and this Twins fans does not want to see him in a MN uniform ever again. Perkins hasn't pitched for over a year and the last time he did he was getting plastered and was a huge contributor to the collapse in the early days of a dreadful 2016. This team needs to bury the ghost and move on with what got them here. I think Perkins returning would have a negative effect on the clubhouse and the way the team feels - kinda like when that hated co-worker returns from a long vacation in the office.
  21. Wins against a struggling Brewers team and a few lucky escapes in Detroit....hey, we'll take it! But series like this one against the Indians - this is the meat and potatoes. Are the Twins gonna show some fight? Step up? Is the recent hot streak for real? Now's the time to go for it. I think Colon starting the opener is a good thing. Veteran presence, Twins players don't have to worry about their pitcher getting nervous. And hey - can the Twins can please please please keep the opponents off the board in the first 2 innings? It's one thing going down 4-0 against Detroit or Milwaukee. Getting down by more than 2 early against Cleveland is a different animal.
