  1. Twins wasting leadoff hits in the 7th and 8th with reckless abandon.
  2. Does Sano need a day off to get right? He's just been striking out at an incredible clip right now.
  3. The Twins have lots of problems on the pitching staff. Pressley doesn't even make the Top 3 in the "guys to worry about" department.
  4. Came here to post the same. Lights out against a completely punchless Twins offense.
  5. Good point. This test will indeed be tricky, with no Santana or Berrios going the Twins are going to have to produce with the bats. The one explosion in Baltimore was against a going-down-in-flames Ubaldo Jimenez. Doing the same thing against the likes of Archer, Odorizzi and Cobb will take more effort. The Twins are going to need to score 4-5 runs in more than one game in this series to win it.
  6. I agree that drafting a High School pitcher with the #1 overall pick is risky. The recent #1 overall pitchers who have had success are David Price and Stephen Strasburg, and both of them came from college programs. That said, last year 6 high school pitchers were taken in the first 17 picks, which is a record high. So maybe the trend is moving towards taking high upside guys and developing the raw talent. I think Greene fits that mold. If Favley and Levine are in charge, I will trust the process if they take him.
  7. Including me, I think. Sure I'd be okay with the other prospects, but c'mon. I want Greene with the #1 pick.
  8. I think the same people who are angered by Mauer's $23 million salary are the same people who are hate ticket prices at Target Field and claim "I built Target Field with MY TAX DOLLARS". As if somehow they were personally hoodwinked in these matters, and now they are worse off because of it. Always struck me as a weird thing to be angry about. Mauer's salary hasn't ever bothered me - poor play bothers me. He's been better this month and I'm happy about it. He's always been reliable in his career when healthy, and I think batting him between 2-5 in the lineup makes sense at this time. He's certainly going to go down in history as one of the Twins' all time greats, no argument.
  9. The Twins are on the road, which means they've got a legit chance to take this series! Then again, these are the red hot Orioles and I'm deeply concerned, as all Twins fans are. We're still wounded from last year and waiting for the other shoe to drop. Not too thrilled about Gibby being back, same as the rest of you. Maybe he'll be angry out there and pitch with a chip on his shoulder?
  10. Twins runs scored the past 6 games: 1 - W 4 - W 3 - L 3 - L 1 - L 2 - W That's an average of less than 2.5 runs per game over the past week. Yuck. On the bright side, the Twins have somehow managed to win half of these games! Woah! Minnesota's in desperate need of one of those famous early-season 6 run innings tonight. Let's warm up those bats, gang!
  11. I'd like to see the Twins call up some of the young bullpen arms also. They've washed their hands of Tonkin and DanSan already, I'd like to see some more housecleaning. I was hoping Gibson would stay down longer, it's kind of depressing to think he's probably coming back, pronto. I like Pressley, Kinzler, and Duffey in the 'pen. The rest I'd be happy to trade for minor-league counterparts, but I'm guessing that's not in the plans. We'll be lucky to see Chargois and Burdi playing regularly this season, the best we can hope for is a September cup of coffee for them at this rate. The bats seem to have slowed down over the past week, averaging 3 runs per game since last Friday. This team is gonna need to score runs in a big way if they are to finish above .500.
  12. Hughes and Santiago are quickly starting to settle into last year's stats. To be honest, I'm more worried about Santiago than Hughes at this point. He's got a lotta Tommy Milone in him and we all know how that goes. We've got a true ace in Santana, a nice looking rookie in Berrios. Here's hoping the Twins find someone in the system to step up here and join them!
  13. Pretty big "either / or" situation there! Inquiring minds want to know!
  14. Castro's had a few of those squibbers this year! We'll take it!
  15. Rough start for Hawkins there out of the gate. Shake it off, LaTroy!
  16. No kidding! We've played a very division-heavy schedule this year so far. While I enjoy watching the Twins play Chicago and KC, I'm not too excited when I see Cleveland and Detroit on the schedule. This is the Twins first inter-league match of the season, here's hoping we can hit tonight!
  17. According to several guys not playing in the majors, Kintzler's a heckuva competitor.
  18. Winnah! Two reasons the Twins are above .500 right now: Miguel Sano and Ervin Santana. Again tonight!
