  1. "Let's say they sweep the Reds. Everything's going to be pretty decent at that point, they'll be 11-12". We all love some good ol'e homer-ism. But this is a bit over the top, sounds kinda like a Packers fan or something. While there's nothing wrong with hoping for a sweep, this Twins team is one of the worst in baseball right now. This is not the 2017 model we're working with here. What we've got in 2018 is a shallow husk of what the Twins once were. I for one just hope they win 1 damn game this weekend.
  2. 6 straight L's. I was worried about that stat, it got me thinking: I wonder if any teams lost 6 in a row and made the playoffs last year? Turns out the first two teams I checked (Cubs, Yankees) both had 6 and 7 game losing streaks last year, respectively. So is it OVER for the Twins? No. Are they in deep doo-doo? Yes. Logan Morrison's ABs with the bases loaded last night were just cringe-worthy. The guy is killing us night after night. Lynn ain't much better, but he only kills us once every 5 days.
  3. This "oh well, we always lose to the Yankees anyways" schtick is getting old. If the Twins are the playoff contender we thought they were, they should be able to win a game or two on the road. Tonight's the night! I can feel it down in my plums!
  4. Maybe Molitor will put his great motivational skills on display before gametime. I heard last year he gave the young players a nickel to go see a picture show. Maybe this year he'll buy a few packs of saltine crackers and let the players divvy them up for a special treat? Ervin Santana, where are you? Great clubhouse guy, classic stopper. He's the guy we need on the mound right now. Byron Buxton, where are you? Those great defensive plays get the team fired up! Hitting looks awful. Pitching looks bad. Overall the team just seems to lack motivation and fire. They need to wake up. Time for Brian Dozier to hold a player's only.
  5. Mauer was simply trying lay down a surprise bunt - the 3rd baseman was waaaay back there. He just didn't get it past the pitcher. If Joe gets on there, he's a genius. So can we please stop making this 14-1 blowout the "Joe Mauer Bunt Game" already? We've got a lot of players to worry about. Joe Mauer isn't one of them.
  6. Morrison just doesn't seem like a good fit on this team for some reason. I've said it a dozen times already, but it reminds me of the Kendrys Morales experiment. The guy was great before he got to the Twins, and went on to succeed after he left the Twins. But in a Twins uniform, Morales was awful and it feels like Morrison is cut from the same jib.
  7. Bad start. Like many of you, I'm not feeling too good about this lineup. Pitchers or hitters. Not much to like right now.
  8. I'm watching the Yankees feed (MLB.TV didn't have the Twins' feed for some reason). The Yankees broadcasters were questioning why it was ruled a "sacrifice bunt" as well. But indeed it was scored a sac bunt by the official scorer, at least for now.
  9. This also confuses me. I saw this in Puerto Rico and thought "okay, maybe Molly's playing the veteran for the big nationally televised affair" (that was the only way I could justify it). LaMarre should be in the OF, not Grossman.
  10. Duke. Rodney. Lynn. These new additions have been disappointing. Sano seems to have basically said "screw it" and plans on literally hitting a HR or striking out every time. Rosario and Kep, gotta love 'em. Let's get Buxton back and get the OF together again! Twins can still take 2-of-3 from these guys, and they should.
  11. The video interview with him above provides some insight. 1. Emotional day, emotional series for Berrios, manager pulled him to take pressure off. 2. Lots of bullpen guys needed work: many hadn't pitched in a week. 3. Berrios said Molitor mentioned this before the game, seemed cool with it.
  12. LaMarre's gotta get more playing time. All he does is play well when given the opportunity. Morrison looks fat, out of shape, and completely lost. I hope the Twins are trying to work out a trade to see if anyone will take him off their hands. Otherwise just DFA the guy.
  13. Mauer's postseason "clutch numbers" would be much higher if the umps didn't steal that huge double from him in New York many years ago.
  14. Offense was very disappointing. Kluber was "on" and there's not much the Twins could do about it. Great teams can beat great pitchers. But tonight, after a 5-day layoff, traveling abroad, Buxton's migrane, etc...I'll give 'em a pass. No passes given for Logan Morrison though. He's used up all of his.
  15. You also just compared stats that reflected negatively on Mauer. For example, you didn't compare career averages as a catcher, season highs in batting average (none of those other guys ever batted .365), MVP trophies, or OBP. So I'm guessing you were kinda trying to bash Mauer in relation to those other guys. No problem with that, you are entitled to your opinion. And you made some good points also. I agree Mauer's got an uphill battle but I do think he deserves heavy consideration for the HOF.
  16. None of them were catchers for the majority of their careers, though. I think that's Joe's ace in the hole.
  17. Some talk about Joe's HOF chances on another thread. Thought I'd add some food for thought: Johnny Bench had 2,048 hits Mike Piazza had 2,127 hits Carlton Fisk had 2,356 hits Yogi Berra had 2,150 hits Joe? He's already at 2,000 and will likely surpass all these guys. Yeah yeah, he's been at first base for a few of those games. I don't think that hurts him as much as some of you think.
  18. Buxton has really been cutting down on the K's. He's struck out just twice in his last 18 at-bats. Sano on the other hand....P.U. He is hammering the ball when he makes contact, though. And at this point Logan Morrison has been so terrible that moving Sano in the batting order isn't realistic.
  19. The ball was in the air for a year, and hit the top of the wall - the outfielder played a little deke move, but Joe shoulda scored. He had time and it was a deep shot.
