  1. I have to agree with the other comments here and say our top young hitters have looked good at the plate this spring. Lewis took Wheeler downtown like right now.
  2. Gil was signed as a free agent by the Twins, Chalmers was a 3rd round pick of the A's. Gil is almost 2 years younger and has performed better on the mound so far. They are the same size. Gil probably projects as a major league pitcher better than Chalmers, while I think Chalmers is a valid prospect with electric stuff. Gil might end up as an upper-strike zone flame thrower where Chalmers, if he can command the fastball better, can carve through a lineup all through strike zone and really gives righties a fit. No trade happens in a vacuum and having Cave has really helped, so I guess I'd choose Cave and Chalmers over Gil. Just don't ask me again tomorrow.
  3. So . . . he's day to day like the rest of us. Edit. Forgot to say good article. Hopefully Swiss-G has better results than Dustin Pedroia (thanks again Manny Machado).
  4. Thanks Seth. He has a great baseball name, and it sounds like he has a great work ethic. I think one of the hardest transitions to professional sports is learning how to work hard. The players today have access to so much to improve their game it can be overwhelming. I love the experience of our coaches in the lower minors and their ability to help the young guys. Go Twins.
  5. I think Polanco just needs to find a consistent arm angle for his throws and work on it. If he can cut down on the crappy throws his defense would look much better. Arraez will be ok at 2B with better footwork and agility confidence, but some here might be right that he has more value as a super utility player (post Marwin). We'll have to see if Gordon can stay on the field and be reliable. Blankenhorn is a baseball player and will be an asset however he is used.
  6. Pulling for infielder Levi Michael. A Twins 1st round pick in 2011 that didn't pan out, is back after a year in the Mets organization and a year in the minors with the Giants. Hope he plays well and gets a chance to get some MLB at bats. Go Twins.
  7. Not very encouraging. When I hear, "Wilson Ramos", I feel like Moe of the 3 stooges in the Niagara Falls routine.
  8. With the number of pitchers teams are using these days during the season, you can't have too many capable bodies on hand. I think the Twins have set themselves up pretty good in this department. It will be interesting to see who breaks camp on the MLB roster. Starting Rotation Projection: Berrios, Odorizzi, Maeda, Bailey, Dobnak. At least until Pineda returns. Also, I think Fernando Romero pitches his way back into a MLB role.
  9. Or agent/agency, Agreed. It's not collusion or anything, just business. I also don't think this negatively impacts a potential multi-year contract. But I also think José would like a crack at free agency. The combination of his effectiveness, consistency and durability is attractive to every team in baseball.
  10. Walker played independent league ball for the Milwaukee Milkmen of the American Association and had a typical ABW year, bating .249 with lots of homers, lots of strikeouts and not enough walks. Fun player to follow in the minors.
  11. Not sure we have a Walker to invite to camp, unless we sign free agent pitcher Taijuan Walker which has been rumored we might be interested in on a minor league deal. We'll see.
  12. Handbook says he has a show-me curve and a very sharp slider and both can generate swinging strikes. Sounds rather good to me. Big frame size with easy delivery reaching 100 mph; I'll take some of that.
  13. Terry Ryan interviews were always exciting .... cough. I always thought he did a good job with a limited budget, except for the release of David Ortiz.
  14. I think all the fans that attended Astros home games are also complicit and they should ban all attendance for one year. C'mon, it's a game. Getting away with bending/breaking the rules goes as far back as competition was invented. Maybe each team should have a secured network of communication tech so they can all communicate with each other. This is the 21st century after all.
  15. Luke Raley is an interesting prospect and if he starts hitting well in the early spring, there might be no stopping him toward a role with the Twins this year.
  16. ** IMPACT ALERT ** Arm & Hammer chosen to be the go-to toothpaste in the clubhouse for 2020.
