  1. The pool of available minor league free agents might be huge this fall leaving open the possibility of signing players the front office covets.
  2. Sometimes a hitter can know exactly what's coming, and still not be able to hit it.
  3. Because of revenue uncertainties for next year I wouldn't be surprised if the Twins payroll budget comes in about 125M. With that in mind, I like Eddie Rosario but I can't see signing him at either of those rates, especially when we have some really good hitters coming up. Rogers arb rates also seem too high unless Wes Johnson feels 2020 was an aberration and we can get the old Rogers back. Then again, it's only money, right? Ha! I think I would use available moneys for starting pitching.
  4. I think Maeda only left 1 game with the other team in the lead. 2 of the 3 team losses were by the bullpen. I think Cruz without the injury/slump toward the end of the season wins it, but Maeda pitched amazing all season. It's just weird to consider 11 starts a season total. I'm not a big fan of pitchers winning MVP awards, especially when you average only 90 pitches per start, but it is 2020 after all. Can't wait to see Buxton actually play a full season.
  5. I had Wisler, Thielbar, Duffy and Buxton, in that order. Wasn't sure how to measure Maeda as he has had stretches that look similar to his 2020 line. I like it when there is strong competition for most improved.
  6. Pretty impressive crop of rookie performances this year. It speaks well to the organization that these players are called up and look ready to compete and perform on the big stage right away. Looks like the voting is spot on. I would pick Jeffers over Dobnak if not for performance then by the size of the hole he had to fill. Jeffers did a really nice job; better than I expected. Congrats Ryan Jeffers.
  7. And in reference to Houston, if the Astros-A's series were best of three the A's would be gone too. Just sayin'.
  8. If you google "the first great dodger relief ace" you get . . . Ron Perranoski. A great pitcher, mentor, and coach who loved the baseball life. We won the AL West in '69 and '70 with Ron as our closer. Rest in peace Sir.
  9. The ability to quickly pivot from sports disasters to arcane movie plot critiques is an important skill in any Minnesotan sports fan's repertoire . . . probably.
  10. If no one is there to watch, does a baseball game really occur? This whole year has been a page ripped from Bizarro World. Too bad the ending felt all too familiar.
  11. Bottom of the 5th inning. Valdez can't find the plate and walks Gonzalez and Arraez. He throws 4 straight balls to Buxton who somehow chose to swing at 2 of them for 2 strikes then ended up striking out. Right there I thought that is the turning point in the game and the Twins won't score another run. They didn't. We lost. Very disappointing. Kudos to Kenta Maeda who someday might even get to pitch more than 5 innings. I fear Brantley the most in their lineup and he didn't disappoint. Go get 'em tomorrow boys.
  12. Prediction: Astudillo - Game-winning pinch-hit single off of Pressly. It could happen.
  13. It's kind of funny that should we split the first 2 games, our season could hinge on the performance of Pineda in game 3. I don't have a problem with that, and after the unadjusted suspension left him with hardly a season, Pineda having a big game would be awesome for the Twins and him personally. Of course, I'd rather take the series in 2. Go Twins!
  14. I stopped reading after the 1st sentence. I could only think that any understanding I gained from reading this could leave me permanently scarred . . . for-ev-er.
  15. Eddie "Big Game" Rosario. That pitch he hit in the 10th to score Cave was a foot outside but he slapped it into CF. This is what an RBI guy does; recognize a pitch he can do something with . . . and do it. Then steals 2B. Wow, we actually manufactured a run. That was a tough error on Sano. You could see that he was stretched out and his weight was carrying him backwards making it hard to squeeze the mitt on Duffy's poor throw. We're half a game back boys.
  16. Entertaining manager, entertaining person. We had a great run with Gardy at the helm, just wish we could of had a little more post season success. Our battles with Ozzie Guillen's White Sox were epic. Thank you Mr. Gardenhire, and God bless you.
  17. Hopefully we can add some Garv sauce to the batting stew. C'mon buddy, burn that lot of no-hit bats somebody snuck in on ya and find some sweet swingin' lumber this last week.
  18. Not weird at all. All Twins fans dislike the Hawk like a bad jar of pickled herring.
