  1. I agree completely. A lot had to go wrong to get to this point, no doubt. I think a lot of the mistakes the FO made only compounded things. Many of the early struggles are a direct result of constructing a puzzle where the pieces didn't fit together. Molitor isn't blameless either, but his job was made more difficult because it was nearly impossible to put together an optimal lineup with what he was provided.
  2. Recently, we're learning what it's like when they're clicking a bit too. They're supplementing the lineup enough to keep things moving along with Kepler and the veterans. The fact that they're hitting a little is a big reason this lineup has put up a ton of runs in the last week or so.
  3. I'd argue that a team hoping to break 50 wins shouldn't have any value for a early 30's aged pitcher still owed $34M. He'd have more value to them on the trade market. He won't have any value to anyone by the time a team in this situation would have interest in that same pitcher.
  4. I assume that it's more common, relatively speaking, in the minors for a pitcher to start both legs of a double header, but when was the last time that's happened in the majors?
  5. Ha! Now that I know I couldn't do. Way too many people out there and I enjoy the changing of the seasons. I'll leave you to enjoy LA! I have a good friend that lived out there for 5 or 6 years before he came back. He couldn't do it any longer.
  6. I had a coworker in college from India. It was a particularly cold, cloudless, and sunny January day in Fargo and we were walking to lunch. It was his first winter in ND, and he looked out the window and commented on how nice and warm it looked outside. I stopped and looked at him for a second and crack a rye smile. I laughed and proceeded to explain to him that a cloudless, sunny day in January isn't something to celebrate in that part of the world unless you like it really cold.
  7. I've had heat stroke, so heat is not my friend. Though, I wasn't a fan of heat before that either. Humidity is even harder on me. I've worked and camped in everything from -20 plus wind to 100 plus humidity. Even if I can't move dressed for -20, I can still function. It's hard to dress for 100+ and more difficult for me to function. I'm overly cautious in those conditions. To each their own obviously, but I'll take the cold.
  8. If it got to that point, there likely would be plenty of pain and suffering on my part as well.
  9. That's informative. Having only flown into DFW once in the early morning and upon walking outside immediately walked into a wall of humidity, I had simply assumed that my previous understanding of most of Texas was correct. I learned something today. I'll still take the -20. I'm not a fan of heat. At least it's better than a humid heat though.
  10. "Game-time forecast: 95 deg F (but feels like 101)" But it's a wet heat... Ick. Give me -20 any day. At least I can put more clothes on. I can only take so much off without getting arrested. I don't really want to be arrested.
  11. If you're talking about Barrio in LF, that was already a bar area. It just got rebranded. I'm with you, one new bar is unneeded but I get it. I'm 35 and don't really drink beer (whiskey!!!), but otherwise fit into your demographic and I have no interest in it. Even if I wasn't boycotting the concessions, I wouldn't then either. We simply don't go to a baseball game to drink. We're there to watch a ballgame. I know that we're in the vast minority. I'm more interested in the food options, but even those just keep getting spendier and spendier. We may have one drink at a game, but that's it. It does seem as though they're losing touch with what going to a baseball game should be about. You can have the beer and the bars, but you're just driving away families.
  12. I'm in a similar boat, but I'm in market . I attend the games that I've already paid for, but refuse to buy more. I used to buy concessions at games almost every game we attended. Between the shear cost of those now and the fact that I don't want to give them any more of my money, I've stopped buying anything at all. I don't have kids, but I don't know how a family of 4 on an average income can afford to go to many games. Even kids days on Sunday's seem to have a dwindling following, but that could just be because of the putrid product. Target Field gets less family friendly with each passing year. It's an absolute shame.
  13. Keeping making it hard for people to view said product and keep it affordable for families and that almighty dollar will disappear quickly in the not so distant future. kids are that future dollar.
  14. It has gotten hard to believe any of their attendance figures. Sunday's game was similar. announced was 26k and I would bet that it was in the 18k-20k range as well. Those are the good ones. There have been a few games that I've been to where I'd venture to guess that it's around half of what they announce. Games that have had decent crowds, Toronto in particular, turn out to be home games for the opposition.
  15. Perhaps, but he's been in the field for all of his rehab starts I believe. That includes at least one game in RF. But I'd venture to guess that you are correct. Plouffe's been bothered by his knee again. Perhaps Moli gives him the night off.
  16. I've seen several sources saying Sano is in town and activated for today. Park sent down to AAA.
  17. Polhad has said many times that TR has never been turned down when asking for money on a free agent. Money is a crutch. If Tampa can put an extended run together in the conditions they're saddled with, this team has no excuses. Even if finances are a problem, TR spending habits are a larger problem.
  18. Agreed. At this point, I'm just hoping that it starts instead of this treading water that we've been seeing for the last 5 years.
  19. I enjoy the enthusiasm...and you're right, that is how baseball works. 'Tis a funny game.
  20. Those are the comments I was referring to. I'd have more hope for Polhad's comments if they weren't reported by Sid. He does still have his moments though.
