  1. Santana can play semi-competent defense in so many places, that's his value. I just hope that this is a sign that TR is actually actively trying to move some of these veterans and may need a very short term stop gap player. I'm not overly optimistic that is the approach however. That requires too much foresight for this FO.
  2. I'm far from sold on Arcia. He may prove to go the route of a Valencia and eventually get there. I see him as more of a platoon guy that hits a HR every so often and strikes out most of the rest of the time. His lack of plate discipline is his undoing. That being said, if he cleans that up he could be quite productive. I don't see him going Ortiz on us regardless though. I'm not going to lose sleep over him being gone, but how they even got to this point is just item on the list of reasons this FO is a clown show. That being said, this timing makes little sense. They knew Santana was coming back in a matter of days when they signed Neil Ramirez. They simply could have not signed a guy that was waived by two teams in three weeks and let Chargois get another inning or two. Then when Santana was ready to come back, they send Chargois down. I wouldn't be that bothered with carrying 12 pitchers, Molitor just has to use them more efficiently. But the best answer was to let Santana sit in Rochester for a bit while you worked out a trade for one of the big league position players. Development to win more games later on should be the focus, not necessarily winning games now. I'd be interested to know if TR even tried to trade him first.

  4. I'm getting closer and closer to wanting "lose" to be changed to "play".
  5. That's definitely the case. A higher price tag with a larger contract period would likely be the case however. I would think these players would be sought out by two different markets, but it will still likely be a factor.
  6. I urge you to check out his latest album featuring MC Handel.
  7. If I could get that for Dozier, I'd do that in a heartbeat too. That's not really a knock on him as much as I think assets that could be used to acquire other assets and allow a guy like Polanco to move up is the direction that this team needs to head in.
  8. Hopefully the stein has a well sealed lid. Can't be spilling the pain concealer.
  9. For the life of me, I don't understand why I willingly clicked and watched that link.
  10. That's why the correct answer to that scenario wouldn't involve Nunez at all. Polanco plays 2B.
  11. He's a very nice sell high candidate, but you don't need to give him away. It would be nice to free up PT for Polanco, but like mazeville stated above, it would be nice if he could get slotted in somewhere regularly.
  12. I was thinking the same thing. Good to see JRM starting to find some life at the plate and not just behind it.
  13. Incidentally, the Mets acquired Kelly Johnson today. That probably lessens their desire for a trade for a 3B a bit even if Johnson is a utility guy.
  14. I agree and it's about time the team figures out what he can do at the MLB level since they've exhausted his option years without already figuring that out.
  15. Agreed. Many of the moves that they have made would be reasonable if the team were competitive and being in the thick of relevancy. Obviously, that is not the scenario so they make little to no sense. Aside from being forced to due to injury, Buxton would be the most notable exception of a prospect being called up and actually playing. This team is in a position where the notion of prospects coming up and playing every day should be the norm, not to exception.
  16. I'm right there with you, even with the statement that they won't have a choice but to make a change. I'm just not sure it'll happen.
  17. Kepler is only playing everyday due to injury as well. He rarely played when he was first up. Buxton came back up earlier than probably anticipated because of injury. It's good that they're actually playing, but the FO's hand was forced.
  18. I wish that I had your optimism that a move will actually be made.
  19. Good read. Like others have touched on, I'm worried that the necessary changes won't be made. A failure of this nature has to result in changes, but this team isn't one to make those decisions.
  20. Agreed. It's okay to make a mistake, it happens. What you can't do is continue to compound the mistake by doing absolutely nothing to fix it.
  21. Agreed. Polhad's comment is a very stark contrast from that of the Padres owner, whose team just unloaded their key offseason pitching acquisition. We'll see if there are more moves made from the Padres, but they've already shown more of a willingness to change what ails them than the Twins have. You can't publicly state that it was a "total system failure" and then do virtually nothing about it and be taken seriously.
