It's true that Kintzler would not have pitched the 8th, but you can argue Belisle might have. In any event they shouldn't have lost a game they scored 11 in, Kintzler or no, and they shouldn't have been 3 hit by James Shields and a Bummer.
How much could we get the Tigers to eat of Verlander's contract? Or Zimmerman's? I see Zimmerman as a good buy low option if they would eat like half of it. Unlikely I know.
I still think Polanco can be a .280 hitter with good gap power. As little and as poorly as he's played, he just hit his 18th double tonight. Rosario hit is 22nd. Pretty surprising. He's got to pick the defense back up though. Ultimately, I think he can be an above average 2B on both ends.
Most likely. But giving one of them a trial makes more sense than Molitor managing out the string. They intended to bring someone in from outside in 1986 too. They changed their mind.
If only there were things we could do to improve the offense. Like DL Polanco and get Vargas back. And DA Giminez and get Garver up. And try someone else in the lead-off spot. But alas, nothing can be done.
Granite playing over Rosario is questionable at best. You already have Castro, Buxton and Berrios hitting. You can't afford to bench one of your 3 best hitters.
I agree on Grossman. A DH who goes 2 months without hitting a HR? Pathetic, I don't care how many walks he draws. At best he's a 4th OF'er and his D isn't good enough for that.
Trade Kintzler, Grossman and Belisle. DL Polanco. Activate Buxton and call up Vargas and 2 relievers. Give Hildenberger the 1st shot at the closer role. Rogers clearly isn't it.
