  1. Mike Pelfrey now has a 6.80 ERA in his last 8 starts. I look forward to him making 12 more!
  2. And here's the Pelfrey implosion. Exhibit 35667 why he should be in the BP.
  3. Pelf serving up BP and getting away with it. Way to increase the trade value!
  4. What if Twins stand pat? It's always been better than 50/50 that they will. And it will forever be as long as TR is the GM. He has his strengths. Fortifying a team for the post-season isn't one of them. Come Friday at 3:00 will hear about how exhaustively they worked the phones, but there just wasn't the right 'fit.' Maybe they'll call up Arcia as a consolation prize?
  5. If the later of those two were enough I'd do it in a heartbeat. Including Berrios gives me pause. He's the only thing we have resembling a true ace in the near-term. It's hard to win a World Series with Kyle Gibson or Phil Hughes as your best pitcher.
  6. Pelfrey now as a 4.00 ERA. Can we get over the idea that he has to stay in this rotation? I really hope he and May swap after the AS Break.
  7. This team needs less Suzuki and Hunter and more Arcia and Fryer/anyone else.
  8. Somewhere Gardy is going 'damn, why didn't I think of that, when I was betting Mike Redmond 3rd?'
  9. Great outing by Gibby. Cross him off the 'which starter gets demoted' list. (J/K I know he was never on it.)
  10. We're still two weeks out. Why worry about it yet? The Minnesota sports gods will provide as soon as they're done torturing Gopher Basketball and stalking Teddy Bridgewater.
  11. Mauer hitting 3rd is not a major problem at the moment. They are currently trotting out a line-up with at least 3 black holes (Suki, Santana and DH) and Hicks should still be nowhere near the top 5. So realistically, you can't drop him any lower than 5th anyway, and that's not better. If Mauer is still hitting 3rd when Sano, Vargas and Buxton are on the team, that's a whole other thing. I don't think they'll be that stubborn. It's far more important to fill at least one of the black holes, and at least partially cover a 2nd by getting Pinto up here and letting him catch a couple times a week.
  12. I don't think it's fair to judge Escobar's D based on the last two games. He was fine last year. The first option is to give him an extended shot at it. And I'm not ready to give up on Santana. Send Santana to AAA and give Escobar SS for 6 weeks. If July 22, we still have an issue and are still in the race, a trade might be an option. But this is the Twins. We all know they'll just acquire Nick Punto for Josmil Pinto and pi$$ us all off.
  13. Hey, it's Spring the time for eternal optimism, a new manager, etc. But this certainly takes the wind out of the sails. I want to believe that Pelfrey will be not awful and the net effect of this is only a couple wins. But it still sucks. I was already having visions of the bullpen costing us about a win a week. It's pretty hard to be optimistic at this point.
  14. +1, A couple days ago it sounded like Malone was the front-runner? Personally, I'd give Malone a shot with a very short leash to May and Meyer.
  15. So did Tom Kelly (Pags and Leus) I thought a platoon has made sense the last couple years with Hicks and Pressley or Pressley/Mastro. It certainly does again.
  16. I don't like moving Arcia to LF, but Seth's right the over-reaction here is just as over-the-top as the universal love elsewhere. The truth is somewhere in the middle. It's one year of an over-paid aging outfielder. It's not what will determine the Twins fate in 2015 much less long-term. It's really not that big of a deal.
  17. I don't have a huge issue with it, as long as he only plays 80-90 games mostly against lefties. $10.5 million is too much for a part-time player, but I'm not a Pohlad heir, so I don't give a $%^. My only fear is that at that price, they'll stubbornly run him out there 150 times. If Gardy was still here it would be a certainty. I hope Mollie knows better.
  18. Personally, Luvello was more intriguing, but I'm OK with this. Molitor has as good a chance to succeed as anyone and it makes sense on multiple fronts.
  19. If he doesn't want to come here, fine. But $$ should not be the issue. $5 million? Great. $8 million? OK. Even $10 million. What player could they sign for these amounts that would do more on the field or with the fans than Maddon would?
  20. Terry Ryan should be out for a few reasons. Not the least of which is Bill Smith was his hand-picked successor. Yes, he made the mess, but he was the guy Terry groomed to take his place. Further, I refuse to believe the major moves made under Smith (Garza trade, Hardy trade, Nishi signing, etc.) were not run by 'consultant' Terry Ryan before the trigger was pulled.
