    This is likely his last true bargaining leverage he has in professional baseball. Don’t blame him for negotiating a fat check to say yes to the deal.

    Players get compensated to waive their no trade clause so Hosmer is probably getting a fat check to say yes to the deal. Then likely opt out at the end of the year.

    Hosmer has a no trade clause and evidently SD has not reached out to get his consent yet. So that’s why the deal is being held up right now.

    I want to believe this is the case, but not fully bought in yet. In order for this to happen, we need to develop pitching. Specifically someone who could be considered a #2 or ace on a WS contending team.
