  1. I also would not mind Mejia over Berrios for the 5th starter. Really anyone over Vogelsong. Though I did get a good chuckle out of this line describing Vogelsong: "many are impressed with his veteran-ness" Picturing in my head Berrios and Mejia watching in AWE, maybe even recording it on Instagram that a 39 year old can throw a ball 88 MPH.
  2. I thought we fixed the glitch in regards to D Santana. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qOJessrDCGI/TUcATUV0UUI/AAAAAAAAAAk/k7duqm73Ic0/s1600/MiltonOfficeSpace_thumb.jpg
  3. Cue to Seth Stoh's article where he says Belisle is the bridge to Kintzler in 3, 2, 1......
  4. As do I. Prospect's values are almost always higher than where they actually end up after a year or 2 in the league (if they're fortunate enough to make the show)... I'm of the belief that a prospect can easily peak in value before they get to the majors. For example, I think the White Sox traded for peak value of Giolito. Jay's peak was probably the beginning of 2016 when he (I think?) made a top 100 prospect list and was still thought of as a starter. I truly do hope that is the route the new regime goes with. Not all of Gonsalves, Stewart, Romero, Mejia, Jorge, etc. is going to work out. It sure would be nice to find out their value for immediate help.
  5. A 2.82 ERA in his final 24 appearances last year is just okay? I also pay zero attention to spring training stats. As long as he's still throwing heat, then let's put him in there. The hurry is so we can see some semblance of what the bullpen could be like in the future, since this will be another below .500 season. Or we could cater to all of the veterans and have Breslow/Belisle in the 8th inning, Kintzler in the 9th and pretend 2018 doesn't exist.
  6. Concur with mikelink. What better time than now to get him ready for the role? I'd like for him to be in the 8th inning set up role to start the season, then transition to closer full-time by July.
  7. I think it's short sighted to claim "fast tracking" as a primary reason for moving him to the bullpen. They already have 20 options to sort through, and sooo many good veterans already that not even Chargois will make the roster. In regards to the Perkins update, wow. Stick a fork in him.
  8. David Price was still very good last year. Not sure why they included him on the disappointing list.
  9. Also, for my Fargo people! Season 2 is available to stream on Hulu... Last season is just as great as I remember.
  10. 2 episodes in so far. Didn't think an X Men themed type of show would be for me but it's awesome!
  11. Sale was also a college starter and was expected to be a starter. Didn't remember this until I just looked it up. They promoted him to the majors 2 months after drafting him... That's insane.
  12. Yeah but those guys you're thinking of were, you know, starters before they were called up and sent to the pen. Thinking that Jay, who hasn't pitched more than 83 innings in a season would transition back to a starter is IMO, preposterous.
  13. Concur. The guy who made that pick is gone. Sucks, but it is what it is. I hope they never take another reliever with the idea of making him a starter again. Every single one failed.
  14. The owner's profit margins is by far the biggest road block to the dream of pursuing top free agents. Would I spend $150 MM for Tanaka next season? No doubt about it. Will the Pohlad's? There hasn't been one example of an outside FA getting close to that kind of money. If the answer was as simple as opening up the checkbook, they could have hired someone from the Red Sox, Yankees, or Dodgers. Falvey was their choice because he worked with a similar budget and found alternative ways to boost their pitching other than spending $150 MM on the open market.
  15. I should have jumped on Legion earlier after y'all were raving about it. I'm completely bought in.
  16. Hypothetically, since they're far away from being WS contenders, they'd have to go with the route the Royals took. Sacrificing prospects for good to great rentals to help them get over the hump. The best route IMO to finding a front line starter is through trade. It's not realistic to think that all of Gonsalves, Stewart, Romero, Jay, whoever else I'm forgetting will make an impact in the MLB. I'd gladly trade one or more to acquire someone who can provide an impact if they are close to being contenders.
  17. Concur. They'll never be comfortable to hand out $100+ MM contracts to FA pitchers... It's a bit silly to think they'll be in contention of signing Cueto, Arietta, etc. Falvey was brought on to acquire talent in other ways besides opening up the checkbook and handing out 9 figure contracts. I'd like them to be buyers for sure, but through trades, international signings, and other routes. And like you, I'd rather they pony up and hand out lengthy extensions to Buxton, Sano, and whomever else breaks out in the future.
  18. A new show that came out that is good so far is "Trial and Error" on NBC. It's a comedy, and produced in a mockumentary style similar to The Office and Parks and Recreation. They're basically making fun of "Making a Murderer", the Jinx, Serial, and all of the other crime TV shows out there.
  19. Hmm, on second thought, I propose Miguel Sano uses a segway any time he has to run the bases. No more hammy issues for him! http://www.segway.com/media/1214/02_tours_segway.png
  20. Remember when one of the ad boxes here was a quiz? That was fun. Now that small talk is over, can you share your google history so I can score a mail order bride?
  21. If Buxton is unfortunately injured for a period of time, Granite can and should be called up to play. I concur with Sconnie. No reason to have 5 OF on roster when the game plan is Rosario-Buxton-Kepler playing 125+ games. If Stubbs clears waivers and accepts playing in AAA, great! Hope he stays with the Twins. If he opts out or gets claimed, oh well.
  22. I think we're getting a good idea of what you do on the weekends given the ad choices...
  23. The red flags are still very much present from 2 weeks ago. It's not getting much better. It's not going to be pretty watching him start games in April.
