  1. He would be a fine rental to go after, and a good replacement for Magill on the current roster. I'm still hoping to aim higher in a trade, but he would be a fine 2nd acquisition.
  2. Too many red flags with the drop in velocity, mechanical flaws, and heavy workload in the past. Pass.
  3. Might be time to look at starting pitchers on the market and move Perez to the bullpen...
  4. Concur. It's time to prepare for October today. The stud starting pitchers in the playoffs may go 6-7 innings. The rest get the boot after 4 or 5. This bullpen is woefully unprepared to pitch 4 or 5 high leverage innings a game.
  5. The Twins are absolutely able to swallow dead money. Not as much as Chicago, LA, and New York can. Last year the Twins swallowed $19 million alone with Erv and Phil Hughes' contracts. As long as they don't make it a habit and have $50+ million in dead money, they will be just fine.
  6. The Twins can absorb one bad contract if it comes to that. They're not in that dire of a financial situation. Last year they absorbed around $19 million in dead money with Ervin Santana and Phil Hughes.
  7. Just started watching it on my flight today. Pretty good!
  8. Piling on I guess.... No one expects this team to continue winning 72% of their games (which they did in May) No one expects this team to continue winning 68% of their games (which they've done up to this date so far) They have banked so many wins right now that a bad stretch of baseball won't kill this team.
  9. *Insert your favorite Gardy-ism here* Tough loss. Really battled their tails off last night. We'll be back tomorrow night. I can promise you that.
  10. This can't be emphasized enough. A great starting rotation is the ultimate equalizer against anyone they play. I'm thrilled they developed STARTING pitching instead of the opener/primary pitcher set up.
  11. It's like I'm watching someone's MLB The Show franchise on easy settings... But this is real life! I've gotta say my friends that are Astros fans are worried about the Twins...
  12. Scherzer leads in fWAR for all pitchers with 2.6. 10th in bWAR with 2.2. He's still very much a stud.
  13. I would take anyone on that list... Except Boyd from the Tigers. I don't trust Gardy or Rick fixed him.
  14. I bet they regret not trading Kluber last winter knowing what we know so far.
  15. I don't doubt it's going to take an elite return. For the Twins, I think this is the year to offer the elite return and go for it. Like Mike mentioned a couple of posts ago, it's not often everyone is producing and healthy. The future is bright, but injury/league adjustments can happen unexpectedly, dimming the bright future lights.
  16. He wouldn't be a bad acquisition either... And a lot more realistic to think about than Scherzer. But it's fun to dream!
  17. Concur. Both are top of the rotation arms, but I feel way more confident about Scherzer's ability to start 30+ games a season over Thor.
  18. B all day long. I love both pitchers, but Thor has a more decorated injury history than Scherzer. I think Scherzer, like Verlander, is a unicorn in the MLB. One of the last remaining ace pitchers you can confidently predict 200+ innings every year.
  19. Yeah, Washington's problems run deeper than the manager. Can't keep firing managers every year and think it's going to change. Something stinks over there... Scherzer's probably tired of the losing and lack of run support. https://twitter.com/AndrewSimonMLB/status/1131588158854959109?s=19
  20. On the list, I would substitute Graterol for Balazovic... Mostly because I think Balazovic has a better chance of sticking in the rotation. And because Graterol is at his peak prospect value right now.
  21. I'm at a loss of words with this team. They're built to win home run derbys and exceeding all expectations.
  22. Dustin Morse tweeted last night it's the first time since 8/18/2017 when Buxton and Sano homered in the same game. Let's not wait so long for the next game it happens.
