They do... But that someone doesn't have to be in the organization right now. I would trust almost all of the trade candidates highlighted on this website over the last few weeks instead of Duffey, Magill, Morin, etc.

He's got a ton of wiggle room to strike out and still maintain an OPS in the 800s! Though I never asked other fans when it's okay to comment about a player's faults... Is it once their OPS dips below 775?

If I've learned anything this year, OPS is literally the only thing that matters... His OPS is 1.002! Nothing to see here... Honestly, I'm disappointed he's not striking out more.

Article: MIN 8, KC 7: Losing Streak Snapped Again
Vanimal46 replied to Andrew Gebo's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
A trend I notice every single year... If a player starts their season hot, fans give them all the leash in the world when they slump. Simply because their overall numbers still look okay. If a player starts ice cold like Brian Dozier, fans bitch and moan and want them gone. They don't notice until the end of the year, oh, their overall numbers aren't so bad.- 51 replies

He tried really hard last night to make contact with a pitch. Maybe one of these days he'll succeed!

So you're cool with Sano striking out 50% of the time as long as his OPS looks okay?

Astudillo's chase rate is an issue. That's why he was sent down to Rochester. Sano striking out in 24 of 56 PAs in June is totally fine because his OPS is still good? I don't get it, I really don't.

I sure hope he doesn't become Joey Gallo because I don't think his current performance is sustainable... Every player has peaks and valleys in their game. Because Sano's discipline is iffy at best, his valleys are pretty bad. When he's off, he barely makes contact with a pitch. I don't understand why some fans continue to dismiss this problem of his. Why is it a bad thing to comment about his bad plate discipline and high K rate, and want him to improve that aspect of his game?

The prospect cost doesn't concern me... I don't think Cleveland will ever trade him to a division rival.

I could have noticed but obviously it didn't resonate with me. It's not like I saw Tony Gwynn with a dip in, investigate what it was, and actively pursue it. No organization is supportive or encourages dipping in the office. Of course they want all of their employees to be healthy. I know a couple of kids that dip at my work. It's easier to hide than smoking cigs for sure...

Successful teams come with higher expectations... A team needs to have a good bullpen to win and move on in the playoffs. That's why we agonize over this weak spot on the team...

Article: Twins Prospect Spotlight: Jake Reed
Vanimal46 replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
For sure. Didn't intend to compare Achter and Reed's stuff... Most casual fans just take a glance at a player's B-Ref page, see the eye popping numbers, and clamor for the player to be called up. Jake Reed's case reminds me of that. -
I'm right there with you Mike. Moving Romero to the pen was ill advised and now this is a lost year for him. He's unrecognizable from last season. His delivery in 2018 was so smooth and effortless. He threw plenty of gas consistently at 95-97 MPH. Wes Johnson has done a lot of great things with the pitching staff, but he probably should have let Romero continuing to do his thing without trying to add another 2-3 MPH of velocity. I'm done with the experiment and think he should spend the rest of 2019 in the minors ramping up to start again in 2020.

Article: Twins Prospect Spotlight: Jake Reed
Vanimal46 replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Reminds me of AJ Achter back in the day. Eye popping numbers in the minors, and always passed up for other players. When he did get his chance he wasn't very good at the MLB level. I trust these guys see something that won't translate well at the MLB level... Hence why he's continuously denied the promotion. -

I don't have any expectations he will be the savior we're looking for in the bullpen. I guess it doesn't hurt to see if he catches fire for a couple of appearances. I was hoping they would rifle through all of these options last year when they weren't in contention. -
I think we may be giving kids too much credit paying attention to what's inside a baseball player's mouth. Growing up I never noticed Tony Gwynn and other baseball players were using chew on the field. If we want to deter kids from using chew play the summer carnival scene from The Sandlot on an endless loop.
