  1. One positive is Jorge's performance. I am liking what I see from some emerging pitchers
  2. He played 64 games at E-Town last year. It was odd they didn't pushed him up to CR after 30 games or so. If he did well there, and had a good spring they could've considered having him start at FM. Its fine he is there, but he is old for Low A baseball and his success needs to be put into that context. (Also hie is 22, not 21)
  3. Anyone know if Gordon's doubles were minor leauge "speed doubles" or were they hard hit balls?
  4. two games. TWO games! TWO GAMES!! People....baseball is NOT the NFL. Sheesh
  5. Id like to go with Romero for a breakout candidate bu he is on his first year back after TJ so he will be treated with kid gloves. So I choose Rosario. If all goes right with the kid he will be in the Twins bullpen mix at the end of next season.
  6. Unlike last year, there is no player who you can count on to be effective. Instead its full of question marks Will Palka show his power during games? Will Harrison finally break out? Will Vielma hit the ball out of the infield? Will Eades live up to his draft position? Will Michael stay healthy and can he play anything except for 2B? Can Garver play serviceable catcher? Can Turner hit? Will Goodrum harness his tools? Will Wimmers be effective? Can Chargois, Melotakis & Burdi stay healthy? Is Peterson legit? If the answer is "yes" to 50% of these questions, this team is on its way to another good season and another crop of prospects is about to be clamerouring for playing time with the Twins. If not, the cupboard is about to be pretty bare.
  7. Thats a bit disappointing. Agewise its fine to keep them in EST and the rookie leagues - they are both still teenagers . But both are high round draft picks so I was hoping one of them would be ready to be pushed up.
  8. Both Blakenhorn and Cabbage are starting in Extend Spring? And Paul is playing 3B? He only played 3 games at 3rd last year. I wonder what the twins are thinking here. Also this will be Murphy's 3rd full at cedar rapids. He is on his last gasp, is that right?
  9. The Ave age of the pitching staff looks older than last year, but the infield is pretty young. I like that mix. It will be fun to see how this young infield reacts to full season & cold weather baseball!
  10. Really? If Nolasco is released, that opens a spot on the 40 man for Berrios. I would hope that he is ahead of Duffey.
  11. I think for the first year or two he will be more valuable in the field than the plate. Hopefully he starts the year batting ninth and he can focus on playing great defense.
  12. If Duffey doesn't make the team as a starter, why did Moliter quickly move May to the bullpen?
  13. Graham & Pressly - both rule 5 draft guys who stayed on the 25 man roster at the expense of the MLBt eam are now considered as bullpen only guys? Yeesh. If thats right, that seems pretty poor. Hopefully they will keep Graham at least as a Starter in AAA.
  14. After glancing through baseball reference, the 2016 starting OF looks to be the youngest Twins OF ever. (By ave age)
  15. Generally its pointless to worry about velocity numbers in spring. If Mid April rolls around and those numbers maintain, THEN the FO should be concerned. Since his velocity numbers were decent last year, your comment is only relevant if you have his velocity numbers from past springs. Do you have those?
  16. Well....To get those picks Ryan tanked the last 3 years, Twins fans had to suffer through 3 years of bad baseball, and the FO threw the excitement the new stadium generated into the the incinerator. But at least they did a good job on who they picked and developing them, now just have to take these youngsters and put them on the team.
  17. I had to google the Moldavian - Vadim Balan. Good luck to that 22 year old in EST this year
  18. Last year Escobar had a career year, he out hit his best minor league stats & major league stats. I don't know if he hits as well as he did last year, he might be a one year wonder. But even if he falls back offensively, if he keeps playing solid D and isn't a black hole he remains the best Twins SS since JJ Hardy.
  19. Bloodlines = Genetics + better coaching opportunities. Its an advantage most other prospects don't have. But lots of ballplaye'sr kids don't get drafted at such a high slot. And lots of ballplayer's kids don't draw the rave reviews from scouts. Scouts see Gordon and say he can play SS at the MLB level, they like his makeup and they like his bat. He'll be 20 years old playing at high A. He might struggle a bit, but as long as he keeps playing good Defense, and keeps getting on base we should be patient with his bat.
  20. So you think the twins are going to try to keep Rosario as a starter? I didn't know that. I thought they were going to leave both in the 'pen.
