  1. No it won't. But he will be in front of just about every scout and they will get a chance to asses his tools. If they come away saying "he is destined to play 2B" Gordon should fall out of the top 100 MLB prospects and his Twins prospect ranking should fall out of the top 10. His hit tool is not where it needs to be for a secondbaseman.
  2. Thats the one piece of info I am looking for out of the AFL reports. Can Gordon stick at short or not?
  3. Oh my. You are a dead ended aren't you? I doubt Ryan would've spent that money on Sano while Smith did. But in the end who cares? Both deserved to be fired and hopefully they both never come back.
  4. What an odd debate. Smith was willing to gamble while Ryan wanted the low/risk high reward victories. But Both were bad GMs and both made horrible decisions as well as a few good ones. Twins fans just be should be hoping the Boy King Falvey does better.
  5. He has to play or the Twins will never know. But Mauer isn't going anywhere and Vargas has no defensive flexibility so keeping him on the bench as a platoon guy isn't a good option. So I would guess he is gone by July of next year. I hate to say it but so much of this team's roster issues go back Joe.
  6. Spend money on and fix the bullpen. A good bullpen can take the sting out of a bad starter. - They "save" the good starts and stop the bleeding during the bad.
  7. I guess I just need to see more from Kirilloff. I might have him somewhere around #9. He looks like a hacker to me. As he advances he is going to have to start refining his approach and take more walks. And positionly it looks like he end up as as a LF/RF/1B type. So he is going to have to really hit. We'll see. Great list and this was fun - as usual. thanks for putting this together
  8. Palka - I wonder about that. Will the new regime look at his K rate and deem him as someone who doesn't need to be protected? The current player development staff is likely to be replaced (hopefully) so the Twins might be evaluating guys differently going into the 2017 season.
  9. Kepler unanimous over Polanco? That's a surprise. Kepler had one good initial stretch then pitchers found his weakness. He couldn't make the adjustments and looked a bit lost. Polanco would've been my choice.
  10. Arraez - seems too low here. His production at his age should drive him much much higher. - Unless you think his stats are unsustainable due to peripherals - which there is an argument for. His position shouldn't be too much of a factor as I think he will end up in the OF. Wells - Is he really 5'8" still? I thought I heard he grew
  11. If you would've told me 7 years ago that the Twins were going to become "Cleveland West" I would've laughed in your face. Its humbling how far we have fallen.
  12. Granite - I didn't know arm strength was an issue for him. That sucks. I really liked the season he put together. I would leave him off the 40 man but I am looking forward to him playing in Rochester next year. - Hopefully I can see a game or two of his. Rortvedt - He was really bad offensively in the GCL. And unless he is looks to be a wiz behind the plate I think your ranking is pretty right on. He is young, and has the talent to improve. But moving him to the top 20 doesn't seem right.
  13. Wow. Its a bit surprising as I was expecting his hire to happen after Cleveland's season is done. Great. Glad its going forward. I would've preferred the Chicago candidate but I wasn't in the interview room. I am not sure if I trust the Pohlads to make the right choice but...I don't expect them to sell the team any time soon so all we can do is hope for the best. Hopefully Falvey will close the Target Field Country Club and create an atmosphere of accountability. I am looking for a clean sweep of the current regime and a new start.
  14. This year was a big bummer for Cabbage. Way way way too many strike outs against rookie league pitchers. I picked him to take off this year. (I also picked Harrison, for the 3rd year in a row so that shows i know nothing about prospects)
  15. Why would you be shocked? I don't think any team could keep him on a 25 man roster the whole year. I am not sure a team would have the room for a no bat bench guy. I've been a Vielma doubter for a while, but he played in AA as a 22 year old and did respectable. If his glove is as good as folks say, he has the potential to be a SS for the Twins for a few seasons. So its right he climbs up the rankings. But I am not sure if he is a lock for the 40 man roster.
  16. Maybe but I think the Twins putting him the 40 man increased his profile. I think that was a case of bad self scouting and the Twins shouldn't have been so aggressive. He is looking like a bullpen guy at this point but as Seth says he has good stuff so he might turn into something more valuable.
  17. I hope he moves fast and cleans house before the winter meetings. 1st priority is to change the player development leadership, analytics and the scouting department. This can't wait as new minds need to make the choice for the #1 pick.
  18. Post his adjustment he had a stretch of games of being one of the best hitters in the league. Then he had another stretch of games of tapering off....that's just what happened. So from whatever point you take he went from bad to getting better the he made the adjustment and was bad. Then he post adjustment he was amazingly great then he started to taper down back to simply decent. Seems like the definition of streaky/flukey.
  19. His performance seems to be a little streaky to me. He had a really bad April and June, was decent in May and Aug with 1 amazing July. April - 21 Games, SLG .312, OPS - .656 May- 25 Games, SLG .490, OPS -.830 June -24 Games, SLG .256, OPS - .501 July -27 Games, SLG .600, OPS - 1.067 August -26 Games, SLG .429, OPS - .736 September -5 Games, SLG .840, OPS - 1.225 He is going to be 24 next year and has never seen an AB above Low A. He strike outs a lot with just so-so OB numbers. He is not a bad prospect and its not his fault for being hurt. But its telling the Twins didn’t promote him after his torrid July and let him stay as an overaged prospect the whole year in CR.
  20. Watching Polanco has been one of the nice things about the end of this year. I have doubts that a manager like Gardy, or TK would put Polanco's name in the running for the 2017 SS but who knows what Moliter will do.
  21. Going onto Twins Daily from time to time and giving bloggers their desired "access" does not mean he is doing a fine job. The reality is none of us know if he is doing a good job or not. But any new GM is going to bring in his/her own people. And that probably means Goin is out - along with the rest of those folks. Its too bad but its the reality of any leadership change that the existing leadership team is out.
  22. The best part about this is #its happening! It really looks like the Twins country club going to finally be disbanded. Brad Steil - Good bye!! Mike Radcliffe- Happy Trails! Deron Johnson - Enjoy your time off! Rob Antony - Go back to marketing! Wayne Krivsky - What do you do anyway? Jack Goin - Maybe they can keep you around to run the benefits database
