  1. "We have a lot of young arm talent that we’ll be looking at in Fort Myers,” said Falvey. “We Tried will be part of that mix, along with Part Of The Conversation and On The Shortlist" I think "In On" will be up and dominating by the All Star Break.
  2. "Carlos Rodon is still looking for a home..." C'mon. TD has to be better than this.
  3. I didn't say either of those things. A much flatter pay scale would benefit way more players than the current "stars and scrubs" model, and coupled with a floor/cap and revenue sharing would remove much of the financial disparity currently in the game. In my perfect world rookies make 1/3 as much as Aaron Judge, not 1/40th. I'd rather see teams get rewarded more for savvy scouting and development than the size of their bank account. And I'd force cheap owners to spend that revenue sharing as well. Overall salary expenses would be similar. I do think less player movement would be good for the sport. Eff the players on that front.
  4. Wanted to also add my sincere thanks to Mr Goin for his perspective. My perspective is the same as Yoda: There is no try. There is only do or not do.
  5. I agree. I'd like to see a busted union, revenue sharing, and hard salary floors/caps. I'd also like it if Santa Claus was real. I doubt any of those things come true in my lifetime, and I KNOW they aren't coming true this off season.
  6. See, I think Kyle Farmer was always plan A. Plan B was to be "in on" Carlos Correa.
  7. I am close to being in the same boat. I won't regurgitate the somewhat embarrassing depths of my long time Fandom, unwavering through some deep deep depths of awful Twins teams, but suffice to say I have gone to great lengths to support my Twins habit, but...I have never, since 1963, had less interest in this team. Like the OP, it's everything. I despise ownership's worship of the bottom line. I can't somach the players greed and self entitlement. I want the union busted and at the same time sensible salary floors and caps. The Dodgers and Yankees are making a mockery of a competitive league. I don't like the style of play (of most of MLB). I don't like the front office or the manager of this team. I pretty much hate what "analytics" has done to MLB. It's ridiculously expensive to go to a game. And on and on.
  8. I'm old enough to get that reference....but it's "real money" I believe.
  9. I don't want them to waste a pile of money on Swanson, and I ALWAYS want them to spend more. Swanson doesn't move the needle, IMO. He's going to get way overpaid. I have a feeling, though, the front office is feeling a lot of pressure and might make a desperate move. I'd sign JD Martinez for DH and whoever their staff feels are the 2 best relievers still available. If you can get something useful for Kepler, pull the trigger now. Pray for health, luck, and a weak ALC to keep them relevant. Blow it all up in July if it doesn't work.
  10. Not at all surprised Rodon to the Yankees, and not really disappointed he's not a Twin. I don't think he would have been a good gamble nor do I think it was realistic to think he would come here when he had other options. I don't think it makes sense to dump a ton of money into Swanson either. JD Martinez, and some serious bullpen help. Pray for health and help from the minors, and thwt 90 wins takes the ALC. And set about fixing the fact free agents don't want to come to Minnesota. Not sure how, but that's an issue.
  11. I assume the Giants' front office is out looking for jobs as we speak?
  12. My musically inclined cousin, Carlos Santana-Roseannadanna.
  13. Who was that old curmudgeon who told you Farmer wasn't a "backup" when the trade was announced?
  14. And thus, the "13 years is RIDICULOUS" line is shown to be shortsighted. It actually reduces the cost of the $350m. Both yearly, and in total. Look, $350m is idiotic. So was $285m....but that's what the market price is.
  15. I'm not opposed to blowing it up, in fact I think it probably is the wisest course of action. But I'd wait till summer. Both Mahle and Maeda would most likely fetch more then than now, if they prove healthy. Nobody is paying full price for either today, when both are coming back from injury. If we get to July and it's another lost season, dump it all then. Gray, Mahle, Maeda, Polanco at minimum.
  16. Might have to throw in Duensing to get the deal done.
  17. Why the sarcasm?? The Twins were "in on" both of those two.
