    10 years is significantly different than 13? A renewed physical with "different criteria?" WHAT? My belief is the Twins were never seriously considering signing Carlos Correa. The rest is smokescreen. There is zero possibility his ankle had anything to do with their decision. What possible new information would there be? They knew about Correa's 2014 ankle injury LAST year. You're telling me legitimately thought 10 years and $285m was OK last week, but NOW they needed "due diligence?"

    Sounds like the Giants got cold feet. As for the Twins, that was never happening. The Twins knew it, Correa knew it, Boras knew it. I doubt they actually even offered the $285. Any small chance they were actually serious was shown to be false when they traded for Farmer. Something like that was always the plan.

    I did not say flat rate. I said the agent fee isn't a factor in which contract is worth more to Correa. Boros gets the same percentage rate no matter the contract. 5% on the $280m the Twins offered, 5% on the $350m. Arguing Correa lost more in agent fees by getting a richer contract is the equivalent of saying he should have signed a one year contract at the MLB minimum. He'd save a ton of agent fees that way.

    No, I mean he gets his (3% I think) on the entire contract. So he would have taken the same percentage from the Twins offer as the Giants. Correa will lose 3% of the extra $65m he got from the Giants, but that's better than not getting the extra $65m at all.

    Nick...you're better than this. He slugged .458 in 2021. On the Twins alone that would have put him behind Polanco, Cruz, Sano, JOSH DONALDSON, Garver, Buxton, and Kyle Friggen Garlic. 38 isolated HRs is nice and all, but when it come as part of only 99 hits total in over 600 PAs, it's not very helpful. 61 hits that stayed in the ballpark in 616 PAs. That leads to only 77 RBI on those 38 HRs, and way too many empty trips to home plate. He's not a good offensive player. Much like Sano, the whiffs cost too much.

    Boros was getting the same percentage from any contract. Not a factor.

    I would add, from my perspective at least, I believe Viking ownership wants, above all, to win a Super Bowl. It's their overriding priority, and they will do whatever they can to get there. Return on investment is nice, but won't get in the way of football. They'd unhesitatingly incur operating losses to win. I absolutely do not believe Twins ownership would do the same. Profit is priority 1. They have that right, of course, but it's no wonder to me the Twins are a distant second to the Vikings in fan interest.

    I want Buxton in CF, and Arraez at 1b or 2b or 3b. There's 400 PAs for good hitter at DH easy. You don't make the Twins better by sticking Gilbert Celestino in CF and Buxton at DH.

    Relax. Dylan Bundy's price tag is dropping into Twins Territory as we speak, and I suspect we'll be stashing minor league FA relievers at St Paul any day now.

    Let's compare JD Martinez to Joey Gallo. Last year. Last 4 years. Career. Whatever. Please. Let's do a comparison. Martinez is 36, and might be in decline, but his CAREER OPS is higher than every year of Gallo's career except 2019...a 300 PA year for Gallo BTW. And Martinez OPS isn't built solely on walks and a few HRs. Joey Gallo can't hold Martinez' jock as a hitter.
