  1. Your trying to defeat our Minnesota defeatism with data, facts and reality?!? Put away your truth!! We shall dwell in our gloomy sun deprived basement man caves dreading the boogie man and the Yankees until we have a 5 game lead over Cleveland!! Even then we shall emerge somber and unenthusiastic until the Yankees are eliminated from the playoffs. Only after they fall shall we allow a glimmer of hope to shine in our eyes and a crease of a potential smile to nudge the edge of our lips!!!
  2. Thanks for this article... a little encouragement after a career worst night. They happen to everyone. I expect he will bounce back but the Minnesota Sports fan in me says he is about to hit the IL for the stretch run....
  3. A healthy Luke Raley would probably be up before a healthy Rooker but unfortunately he’s on the IL also. We might also see LaMonte Wade again for defensive purposes, again if he wasn’t on the IL....
  4. Despite his great season, he was still way down the organizational depth chart and would not have appeared in a Twins uniform before multiple others also needing 40 man roster spots.
  5. I believe this is a major part of the equation. They are both well rested and performing well but to DH Garver and give him more at bats would require carrying a third catcher. Astudillo? I think we need to see him also improve his bottom and top lines. Next year will also be interesting. Who’s splitting time with Garv sauce while we hope Astudillo improves and wait for Jeffers or Rortvedt to arrive?
  6. I haven’t watched every play or every game but from what I have watched, it has seemed that Cron’s ability to catch short hops and low throws has made the other infielders look better and saved quite a few errors. Mauer also did this last year so it’s not an improvement from year to year thing but as a good quarter back needs to thank their offensive line, this infield has benefited from the glove at first base (with the obvious exception of that schoop deke that completely fooled Cron)
  7. Thank you SD, I’ve missed Cedar Rapids this year as we did not make our annual first half trip down. Been one of those summers. For anyone that’s never made the trip down, I encourage you to go check the Kernels out. The drives not bad, the baseball is fun, up close and personal, and I love the ballpark.
  8. Add McGill, Moya, and Reed to that list coming out of Spring training which has ended with 2 of those 3 off of the 40 man roster.
  9. We have had plenty of injuries but our depth and the lesser severity of those injuries has minimized how much we notice them. Besides those already mentioned, we have also had 2-3 relievers miss time. Those have received lesser notice because they were the end of our BP guys.
  10. You would think a guy working in the HR department would like HR’s. Guess not!
  11. I agree that I’m surprised Rortvedt slipped in the rankings. I believe he’s potentially one of our future stars and Garver May end up His back up catcher.
  12. Exactly my feeling on the OF glut. Davis, Wade, Raley, Rooker and Wiel. And that’s when Cave isn’t in AAA. And who’s our top Outfield Prospect? Kirilloff. Can’t keep them all... which team needs outfielders and has pitchers?
  13. I’d say yes, yes, yes, yes, uh... no on Lynn, and yes. Relating to Minor though, should we ask for Faribault HS grad Jake Petricka as a throw in?
  14. Part of the under stated topic here is the blocked players that will not get a chance here because of the young talent on the MLB team. For position players next year, the only definite openings will be at catcher and 2B and I could see us trying to resign Schoop. Everyone else on the team is either Arb eligible, pre arb, under contract or have options that could exercised. We will likely see a very similar line up next year. With that in mind, I’d say we should be trading all but two of Gordon, Arraez, Raley, Cave, Kirilloff, Rooker, Wade, Adrianza and Weil. (Yes, I included Kirilloff). Often rebuilding teams are looking for near MLB ready players. There they are. Any pitching prospects we are not ready to give full shots to this or next year should also be trade bait. Jake Reed should be part of that list as well as potentially Romero. Here’s the Rochester line up. http://www.milb.com/roster/index.jsp?sid=t534 Make your own list. As noted elsewhere, we signed a large draft class last year and look to be doing the same this year. There’s a lot more prospects in AA and below. AAA prospects are all tradable to me. Even La Tortuga though I’d lean towards keeping him with Castro’s pending Free Agency.
  15. Maybe with the bonus pool tracker a total on how much under or over slot we are with the signings so far...
  16. If memory serves me right (which it frequently doesn’t) I remember Lewis starting slowly last year and someone expressing that he was growing defensively and then he really took off offensively (and he improved with the bat a lot earlier than this) but that’s my memory of things. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong...wasn’t that why Kirilloff was promoted a month before Lewis last year? Anyways, I’m not concerned yet. I have a feeling the kid will be raking by years end.
  17. Looking at his stats now, yeah they look good... for some reason I was remembering his numbers being up more than that. Did he start slow? His WHIP last year looks elevated by a higher walk ratio but otherwise the MiLB pages numbers look solid.
  18. Ive been a Lujan fan from afar. I was disappointed last year but am glad to see his success this year.
