  1. I think we would be better off with Syndegaard and Wade Than Rosario and not have a Syndegaard type. Wade would only be that fall back guy if one of the bigger outfield prospects doesn't push his way up in Spring Training. With Kirrilloff, Larnach, Rooker, Wiel, and Raley all a step away, I would be surprised if one of them doesn't push their way up early in the season if not straight out of Spring Training.
  2. But taking this one step further which is where I think the OP would suggest we go, lets do all of these things. Trade from depth for the really good controllable player, keep the guys we want for depth AND sign a big name free agent! If we traded Rosario and lesser prospects for Syndegaard, Kirrilloff or Larnach or Raley or Rooker or Wade or.... to fill Rosario's place, We sign Garret Cole for 7 years 210 Million, resign Odorizzi, and we still have the other prospects we did not trade to fill in as depth, we are truly contenders.
  3. Romero is also not listed and I still hold out hope he gets at least one more shot to start. He was one of those high upside guys with a poor debut. I’m still confused how he went from best future prospect to bullpen failure in such a short amount of time
  4. I was at a game recently and saw a Lyman Bostock Jersey. That was a cool one to see. I would love to break out a Gene Larkin Jersey. Maybe we could have a disgruntled former Twins Jersey night and pull out our David Ortiz, Chuck Knoblauch, etc... Jerseys. That could be fun too...
  5. The big issue with Rooker, Wiel and Kirriloff is the CF part of the equation. Cave, Buxton, Kepler are our 3 CF and they are also ALL not feeling 100% or even a LOT worse than 100%. Who's next in CF? Rosario, Miller, Lamarre? CF has become a BIG problem. Time to limp into the post season... GAHHH!!! Edit: I forgot to name Wade as possible CF. Should I feel relief now that I added his name to the possible CF's for the remainder of the season and post season?
  6. You need 3-4 pitches to be a starter and he has just two that work for him. No, I think he has found his professional home and starting is in the rear view mirror.
  7. Stretch Romero out for the Arizona Fall League and send him there as a starter. Try him again as a starter in Spring Training and make adjustments as the Spring proceeds. I would like to see him get another chance to start but I also hoped May would get another chance. Moving starters to the bullpen too quickly has not proven consistently successful. This also gives me hesitation about Graterol...
  8. I’m in the minority obviously but I don’t mind the unwritten rules. You’re up 13-5 in the 9th with a 3-0 count? Doesn’t matter what level your at, you take the pitch. Chances of a walk, 50%. Chance of a hit is in the 30s %. As a professional you should know to take the pitch. I also agree that with his being corrected immediately by his coach and apology, that should have been enough.
  9. Your trying to defeat our Minnesota defeatism with data, facts and reality?!? Put away your truth!! We shall dwell in our gloomy sun deprived basement man caves dreading the boogie man and the Yankees until we have a 5 game lead over Cleveland!! Even then we shall emerge somber and unenthusiastic until the Yankees are eliminated from the playoffs. Only after they fall shall we allow a glimmer of hope to shine in our eyes and a crease of a potential smile to nudge the edge of our lips!!!
  10. Thanks for this article... a little encouragement after a career worst night. They happen to everyone. I expect he will bounce back but the Minnesota Sports fan in me says he is about to hit the IL for the stretch run....
  11. A healthy Luke Raley would probably be up before a healthy Rooker but unfortunately he’s on the IL also. We might also see LaMonte Wade again for defensive purposes, again if he wasn’t on the IL....
  12. Despite his great season, he was still way down the organizational depth chart and would not have appeared in a Twins uniform before multiple others also needing 40 man roster spots.
  13. I believe this is a major part of the equation. They are both well rested and performing well but to DH Garver and give him more at bats would require carrying a third catcher. Astudillo? I think we need to see him also improve his bottom and top lines. Next year will also be interesting. Who’s splitting time with Garv sauce while we hope Astudillo improves and wait for Jeffers or Rortvedt to arrive?
  14. I haven’t watched every play or every game but from what I have watched, it has seemed that Cron’s ability to catch short hops and low throws has made the other infielders look better and saved quite a few errors. Mauer also did this last year so it’s not an improvement from year to year thing but as a good quarter back needs to thank their offensive line, this infield has benefited from the glove at first base (with the obvious exception of that schoop deke that completely fooled Cron)
  15. Thank you SD, I’ve missed Cedar Rapids this year as we did not make our annual first half trip down. Been one of those summers. For anyone that’s never made the trip down, I encourage you to go check the Kernels out. The drives not bad, the baseball is fun, up close and personal, and I love the ballpark.
  16. Add McGill, Moya, and Reed to that list coming out of Spring training which has ended with 2 of those 3 off of the 40 man roster.
