  9. And 17 of the 19 have no choice but to sign because they can't go back to college....
  10. so we now have 5 infielders, 10 RHP, 2 LHP, and one OF. No 1B/DH types, no Catchers, and no CF.
  11. 6 picks to go and every pick in the 11th round is a 4 year JR or HS Spoke too soon...There go 2 JuCo's
  12. Tanner Brubaker, 4th year JR, RHP from Irvine 11th round
  13. Casey Legumina, RHP Gonzaga, Jr That's 8 College Juniors in a row and 8 of 9 in the entire draft...Huh!
  14. 6 straight College Juniors after 1 HS kid. Only 1 OF, no LHP and no C... Interesting start to the draft for sure but were not 25% done yet and it's only one mode of bringing people into the organization so no judgement. just fascination. The previous two year I remember angst, hand wringing and questioning only to be followed by "OH!". I am willing to wait and see how the whole strategy plays out because this is the 3rd year and the previous two years seemed to have a coherent strategy when it was all over with.
  15. I agree with the criticism if the point of this post is to compare Polanco to Rod Carew but I think the main point is to look at a quarter season OPS and compare it to the greatest OPS's in Twins middle infield history. If Polanco can carry this all the way to the end of the season then we can start comparing him to other great hitters but for now I think this post is only about OPS and examining further on the question of "what do we have here?"
  16. If I could choose to go to a game on any given day without real life interfering with my selection of games, I would look to see when Berrios is pitching before choosing the date. At the games I like to yell "Hip Hip Jorge" every time Polanco comes up to bat. That kid is GOOD! (and still under rated) I am ready to jump to my feet when Rosario is up to bat because there is a high probability of a hard hit ball. My excitement is definitely high when he has the wood in his hands. But for me, La Tortuga at bats are cannot miss baseball. He makes my heart giddy. I would pick him if he had more time in the majors or was at least healthy and playing right now... How do I choose just one? At this point I cannot. Today, gun to my head, I would say Polanco only because of the extension. I hope Rosario, Berrios and Buxton are all extended before the end of the year as well. (but that is a different thread) And I cannot wait to see Astudillo back on the field continuing to develop. ROY?
  17. There is also the Minor League portion of the rule V draft that I would be concerned about
  18. My first thought was "how does a guy with 0.00 ERA finish second? My second thought was "Oh, Ok! Yeah, that's how" Pretty impressive top performances. Just wish these were by our prospects in AAA instead of all of them at AA and lower.
  19. My tickets were in the upper deck (free from a local radio station...someone else won them and gave them to me so...) We were not alone up there but we only stayed up there for 1.5 innings before deciding we would rather stand under the warmers down a level or two than sit up there in a fairly brisk breeze. Fortunately we moved down before the drizzle resumed.
