  1. I would prefer a Mondesi deal though I don't know if that would be possible. DeJong would be fine though getting expensive. Taylor probably will be priced out of range but if not would he even want to play here?
  2. I wouldn't trade Garver yet. Jeffers hasn't proven he can hit big league pitching yet and Garver has. I would be looking for trading partner for Arraez and Kepler. I think Seager stays put.
  3. I think you may be a little high on your base. Front loaded 7/125 would be a reasonable offer. I don't like incentives based on games played but rather things like HR, RBI, H, OA, OBPA, etc. Games played can be manipulated by management and I've seen times that some players have been upset thinking they were held out because of contract concerns.
  4. I doubt he would want to come to the Twins anyway. They have offered him competitive contracts before and no interest was shown.
  5. I'd say it all depends on demand. If there is a change in the DH through the new CBA then there will probably be a high enough demand that the price tag moves the Twins out of the bidding. However, if the DH isn't implemented in the NL then the demand may not be that high and depending on his asking price signing him would be worth considering. As mentioned above, he did so much for the clubhouse that you can't really measure. Was he in decline so much at the end of the season or did the trade and new surrounding just mess with him a bit. He said he loved it here and maybe that made a difference in how well he performed? I only know, I for one would love to see him back.
  6. I would like to see what he could do at short for a while IF we can't get a mid-tier free agent or perhaps trade for a starter until Lewis is ready. Otherwise who else do we have? I strongly say NO to moving Polo back, just leave him alone to do his thing at 2nd, and it will take some time before Lewis is back in game shape. Looking down the minors is it Polacios? I don't think so, not yet anyhow.
  7. Moving him back to ss should be out of the question. Leave him at 2nd. Its obvious thats where he belongs
  8. I agree with points 1 and 2. However point 3 I would look at a package of Arraez and an outfielder for a solid starter to go along with Pineda, Smith and Ober. I would go for a Front line starter in Free agency, and sign a 2nd tier shortstop in free agency. Unfortunately, due to money probably getting low at this point, I am probably forced to keep Colome and work him into the bullpen equation. Unless something else opens or the owners can open the pockets a little more I dont see another way around it.
  9. I think you keep JD unless an offer that really wows you comes along. I would explore trades involving Arraez as I think there would be better chances of getting more advanced pitching prospects. He is younger and cheaper.
  10. Lets not forget that pesky CBA that will probably give most if not all teams at least slight pause in negotiations with free agents.
  11. If the Twins were a playoff team as they ere supposed to be this year people would probably be saying he had a good year.
  12. I keep reading how people are worried about hitting for power. If the kid can hit .270 or so and run and play above avg. defense I don't care if he can't hit for power.
  13. I don't see the the Twins signing any of the above. However, there are several in the "step below" class that may be available on a 1 or 2 year deal. Or maybe the team that does decide to make the big splash and sign these guys would make a trade for the incumbent SS. Lots of possibilities when so many good players at the same position are free agents the same year. Of course, we still don't know what the new CBA will look like either. Lots of questions.
  14. Nice article, and I totally agree with you. With the number of pitchers that have quality history behind them that would probably accept a short term "prove it" contract there should be an opportunity to get a decent 2 or 3 starter. Maybe sign a big quality FA starter, and trade for another? Then get someone who can serve as a decent closer and hopefully have enough money left over for Nellie. His overall stats with Tampa were down enough to maybe bring the asking price down a little to work it out.

    Jorge Polanco and The Twins

The only way I see the Twins trading Polo is if they get an established MLB starter AND a top prospect. Polo is that valuable. With his talent, history, and contract, he should pull in a heck of a sure deal plus a pretty good bet on a prospect.
  16. I'm thinking there is a whole lot more than we know that went into this decision.
