  1. I doubt Story will accept that low of an AAV. I'm guessing it will take closer to 25 AAV or over to get him to sign here
  2. If the DH is put into the NL I think Sano increases his value also. Always a slow starter, but he could probably hit 40 or more homers in some of the smaller homer friendly NL parks.
  3. They could still sign austidillo! He has a better ERA
  4. There have been a few other great players that were injury "prone" early in their careers that at some point it changed around for them. Moliter comes to mind right off.
  5. Kuhl and Rodriguez look like interesting candidates. I'm sure Boyd will find a home, maybe he can become another one of those "crafty" leftys that seem to bounce around forever.
  6. I would hesitate on Rodon unless he's willing to do short term or maybe a contract structured with incentives to protect Twins. A trade for one of the A's pitchers would be nice, but only if they would allow us to talk extension before hand. Doesn't make much sense to give up that much for 1 year which in all reality probably wont be a serious year of contention. I think its almost a given (at least better than 50-50) that Pineda comes back.
  7. Of the 3 above I could go for the Mahle trade. He is younger with upside. Arraez is a tough loss and Canterino looks like he has a bright future but is unproven.
  8. I think you have to consider in the Mauer situation, 1- he was a hometown kid that had been MVP caliber for a few years, 2- He played a position that was extremely demnding and played it very well, posting numbers few had ever posted, 3- It would have been a PR nightmare to let him walk when the team was trying for so many years to gat a stadium built and had finally come so close. Yes there are times where big contracts go bad, but there ar also times where big contracts are the right move. Sometimes you just gotta go big or go home!
  9. Does anybody know if there are incentives (I would think so) or what they are?

    THE FALVEY FILE

funny read lets just hope its way off base and not as close to reality as it may seem.
  11. I agree that the owners are ruining the game, but the players need to accept some responsibility too. Also, I agree with universal DH, just do away with the new extra inning rule, quit messing with the baseball, and I think the game was better when we had AL and NL exclusive umps. Maybe because the batteries could get to know them better and vice versa, but it seemed to me that the game took a turn for the worse when they changed that rule.
  12. I read somewhere (I don't remember where) They wanted to go after Corria? Don't know how much stock to put in it.
  13. I don't know if he ever gets in but one thing he does have going for him is that he was an extremely popular and likeable person and player everywhere he went.
  14. OK I was in upper management for many years. One thing I saw was that new managers would rely to heavy on their assistants early on, sometimes to the point that I would have to move their assistants to another location to make a decision on the new managers ability to lead. I think I see a similar situation here with the Twins. Rocco came in with an established veteran team with a couple of guys (one in particular) in the clubhouse that could kind of act as his assistants. Last season he lost his bench coach, his #1 assistant, and kind of had to navigate things as he went with a new assistant. Then when he lost Cruz and Berrios he lost 2 more "assistants" that helped steer the ship. However, I was encouraged by the way he responded after the trade deadline and seemed tp step up and take more control. Though I don't always agree with his decisions I'm not his boss, if the FO doesn't agree then its up to them to communicate to him what they expect him to change in his management of the game and the players.
  15. Due to the high injury risk maybe we could work out a package deal and get Severino and their ss for Kepler and a low prospect. I'm pretty sure NY will sign one of the top ss FA so why not try? If we're going to kind of make up dream situations why not?
  16. Great job! Nice to see some of these names.
  17. Though I can't give an answer to that, my point is to sacrifice hitting (and some salary) for pitching we could make the move. Risks are part of the game. In this case I see a very acceptable risk IMO.
  18. Miranda could fill in at all 3 of those positions so I would call that duplicate
  19. Probably a good move. Would have been a no brainer for another team to pick up and stash.
  20. Has there been anyone saying what he wants as far as salary? As others have said, that is a major question to be asked and answered before really forming an opinion either way. Of course the Twins would want him, they would want pretty much any number of FA's out there. However, there is that little problem that keeps coming up, salary. This isn't the Yankees who can just toss out a couple million bucks. Sure would be nice to see MLB come up with some type of salary cap (and floor) system wouldn't it?
  21. I think I'd rather see Gordon out there than Cave .LOL. There are so many other outfielders that are able to be 4th and can play CF that are sitting on benches or in the minors I still don't see the need to sign Cave at this point. Its not like a bunch of other teams are chomping at the bit waiting to sign him.
  22. I wonder if he would sign a minor league contract with a major league invite?
  23. I don't really agree with you on that. I truly want the Twins to re-sign him, however, if he has a good to great start to the seaso he good bring a real haul at or around the deadline. Just look what Cruz brought back.
