  1. Good point. There's always that Internet temptation to make a snarky comment without doing diligence, and I succumbed. As a matter of fact, I HAD forgotten Slama's last name, but that is more due to my brain cell capacity rather than his star power. I obviously hadn't forgotten the guy. Plus--Billy Bullock!
  2. Great list, and congratulations to all of these guys for performing exceptionally well at their profession. However, when it comes to being a prospect, remember that guy who pitched for Rochester a few years ago, always with elite numbers? And he eventually got his cup and didn't quite make it? Yeah, I can't remember his name now. Anthony something?
  3. Okay, back from my camping trip. Who'd they trade? Who'd they fire? Wait...WHUT???
  4. This actually makes me feel better--things are bound to average out. Right? Right?

  6. I'm about ready to get on the Vargas train again. Shoot, bring up Carter while you're at it. I've seen Grossman roasted and defended, but it must feels like his contributions are a bit on the empty side.
  7. Wow, Kiriloff is just crushing. Rooker and Rortveldt trending up. Cool stuff!
  8. Romero's first pitch, according to Gameday at least, was a perfectly placed fastball on the corner; a strike that was called a ball. From there, things unraveled. This team needs some naked batting practice or something, but maybe 8 runs in a loss will suffice.
  9. I turned off the game after Kepler weakly grounded out on one pitch to start the 2nd. Not checking in until...morning? Ever? There is a lot of cool, positive stuff in this post. Much more fun place to be. Okay, SSS be damned: Lewis Thorpe: Breaking out Royce Lewis: Power breaking out Jose Miranda: Breaking out? Andrew Bechtold: Breaking out soon? Kohl Stewart: Broken? Blayne Enlow: There are always a lot of numbers in his stat line, but none of them never seem to bigger than a 5 or a 6. Alan Busenitz: Standing By...does Reed need a 10 vacation? Hu: Who did he get traded for?
  10. Just about every trade the Twins have made in the last ten years involving a catcher has had some sort of weird or inexplicable element to it. Catcher valuation is hard to get right. It's kind of like the Twins got a $1 tech stock. Could blow up and be a huge score...most likely not.
  11. Bad news, good news, or meh news?: Jakob Junis once pitched for the "Storm Chasers."
  12. Note to self--YouTube stops playing when you click to the next page. Such a great version of Like a Hurricane, Blake. I used to have that on cassette tape, speaking of age. Also, I can't remember the name of that album/tour. I guess I sacrificed space in my hard drive so I could learn what a Beyblade Metal Fusion is, and why it is absolutely necessary for my son to get one. As for brain cells, there is always this explanation as well:
  13. I was going to ask when Lewis' power would start emerging. Apparently, he was waiting for Seth to be in attendance.
  14. I think one of the first lessons they teach in political science 302: How To Divide a Country is the one where they suggest dogs are better than cats.
  15. If somebody really wants to go bonkers, do it spreadsheet like, with stuff like season totals, last 30 days, last 7, etc. See who's trending up and down and whatnot.
  16. Lynn gives a good interview. Deflects questions without being a jerk about it. Now that he doesn't have the specter of Phil looming over him, he relaxed a bit and pitched better.
  17. Re: Format I don't necessarily care a ton about who won and lost, but I love minor league reports that include context and tidbits I might not find out from simply perusing a box score, which I do on my own most days anyway. Plus, I think it is cool to give recognition to excellent play, regardless of whether or not a player is considered a "prospect" by somebody somewhere. While in this case, I did happen to notice via my cursory boxscore research, that position player Joe Cronin mopped up the Miracle game with two outs, a lot of times I wouldn't have noticed that. Now, years from now, when Cronin is closing out games for the Dodgers, I'll have a bit of added context for that. But that's just me.
  18. I was just going to ask if anybody had any insight into Thorpe's season as well. Kind of a crazy stat line really. 4 runs, all solo homers. Walks didn't haunt, at least. Interesting about Lamonte--promotion, trade, injury? I appreciate that the report was done in a hurry, but if we're voting, I prefer the extended cut versions, and especially, insight I can't get from reading a box score myself. Thanks!
  19. I was reading about Machado's season and wondered if the Twins and Orioles shouldn't make a deal. It feels like the team is pretty sour on him, and an offseason trade is inevitable--if he can build some value, which he currently isn't. With the Central totally winnable, I wonder if adding a guy like for Machado, even for just 3/4 of a season, wouldn't be the way to play that card. Especially if the Orioles through in Jones, O'day, and Britton! As far as a catcher, who?
