  1. Pure disgust. And not with the players, even Belisle. Pressley should've closed that win out. Time for the players to put up the life-size cardboard cutout of Falvey.
  2. Well, at least now I have two teams to root for. I've always kind of liked the Diamondbacks anyway. Would love to see them stick it to the Dodgers, and any other of the Superteams in their way.
  3. Kudos for the random Cohen story. What a songwriter. Every time someone shares yet another version of Hallelujah, I have to make sure they know who wrote and recorded that song...and also query if they've actually listened to any of the lyrics besides the title word.
  4. It could be argued, as well--with facts based on what has actually happened--that the Twins DID draft Lewis because he was the best player on their board, as evidenced by the fact that, thus far, he is the best player out of that draft. Best player on their board being a myriad of factors, of course, one of them being he is not a pitcher. If one of Gore, Greene, McKay, or Wright does not get hurt, I will be astounded. If two do, I will not be surprised in the least. If one of them turns into Kohl Stewart or Tyler Jay, I will not be surprised either, as I am conditioned to expect that. So glad this FO didn't pass on Lewis to gamble on another pitcher.
  5. Well, with some of the rest of their peers on the team developing into stars in their stead, maybe all of this will serve to take some of the mental pressure off of both Sano and especially Buxton. Neither are suited to fulfill the Prophecy of the One That Was Promised. One because he thinks too much, the other because he hasn't thought enough.
  6. Just change the last part to "whenever Fernando Rodney is pitching with a one run lead." Speaking of one-runs--did you know the Twins lead the majors in blown saves with 20? Also, if the last series was a home series, their record in one-run games would have improved. Instead, since they were able to pile on all six runs, the Pythagorean record improved. Anyhoo...
  7. [scrolls up to make sure he is on the right thread] Wow! What a game! That team tonight didn't look scared, or intimidated, or lackadaisical, or any other word associated with being a loser. I often feel like they are like the Millennium Falcon. While often mistaken for a hunk of junk, and frequently broke down, when she's right, she's still the fastest ship in the galaxy. Somebody said Berrios and Gibson could be 2/3. They pitched like aces the last two games. This is something you build on.
  8. Should I be intrigued by this Tademo kid? Or was this just an emergency deal of convenience? Or both? He got subbed in for Blankenhorn--is Blankie okay? Can't believe you didn't go with a "Strikeouts are Elementary, My Dear Watson" headline. I hope Alex Kirilloff has a 47 game hitting streak. Or hits 47 doubles, or homers, or something.
  9. Me too. Also against Rick Porcello and his fake beard. And Eovaldi? Fuggetaboutit.
  10. When I wrote what I wrote I wasn't really taking a strong stance on to trade or not to trade. You got me thinking, though. This type of deal is tough for me, because I don't follow other team's farm systems at all. If they aren't a top 100/first round type of guy, I haven't heard of them. On the other hand, thanks to TD, I'm pretty well versed on Twins' prospects. So this is the only way I can relate. What would it take for me to be okay with trading away Dozier, and further punting this already fumbled season? Ricky De La Torre and Tyler Jay? I don't know. I'd rather have Juan Miranda and Tyler Wells. And then I just ask myself why I'm even speculating, because I have no idea what I'm talking about.
  11. My wishlist: Raider Brito, of the GCL Rays. Career OPS of .529, but I don't care with a name like that. I did check, and he is probably not the son of one of my all-time favorite Twins, Bernardo "El Pupo" Brito, as Raider is Venezuelan and El Pupo is Dominican, but he is the definition of a scratch-off lottery ticket with a catchy game name, and one that reminds me of being 13 again. Like this one. Riccardo Deltornado, a 19 year old SS playing for Milwaukee's rookie league affiliate. A former sixth-round draft pick out of Puerto Rico, he is currently hitting to the tune of a .787 OPS. He's a slick fielder with a penchant for over-flairing routine plays, but definitely a diamond in the rough well worth polishing. and lastly, Taylor Kay. This former first round pick currently has a 2.89 ERA with 42 K's in 42 ip for the Boston's AA affiliate. A relief pitcher now, perhaps a change of scenery--and a move to starting--might turn this silver into gold. All three of these players are real, but only one of the names. Two of them already play for the Twins organization. All of them represent the kind of best case (IMveryHO!) players we might acquire in trades for the likes of Duke, Dozier, Lynn, et al.
  12. Belisle looked good to me. Not some dominating flamethrower, mind you. More like what he--and Santana--are: wizened, ultra-calm vets. Its like having Yoda and Mace Windu pitching. He even mind-tricked Morales into getting doubled off for the second time. I would like scouts to invent a 100 point scale, with Greg Maddux on the top end and Nuke Laloosh on the other, that basically just describes how well a pitcher (and catcher?) actually knows how to pitch strategically.
  13. I went back and looked at the game log, as you probably did as well. As you mention in the update, he was cruising nicely. The wheels fell off though--a walk, a balk, a single, (in no particular order.) Then a couple of his baserunners aren't stranded. Digging deeper, you'd think this is a guy with great stuff who needs to build stamina, and mental fortitude. Exactly what you'd expect in the GCL.
  14. After Granite's alright debut last year, and coming on the heels of being regularly listed as one of Fangraph's "Fringe Five" prospects, he stands out as a big disappointment. He wasn't just handcuffed to Buxton for fantasy purposes, apparently. In my expectation of the season, he played a significant role backing up Buxton, pinch-running, and subbing in on defense. I am a wannabe GM fail--I wouldn't have "blocked" him with a higher profile free agent 4th outfielder either. Kudos to those who anticipated this coming. Vargas. All I can say is...Vargas!

  16. Crazy GIF! This team is fun when they don't suck. I guess that's what is so frustrating...
  17. I think this team is destined for some existential torture. Missing the playoffs by the exact number of wins they should have had against KC?
  18. I enjoyed Meija's contact heavy approach--sweet catch by Max! Awesome Jedi catch by Mauer. Remember the Be Like Mike ad campaign? Maybe there should be a Belike Belisle poster in the bullpen, reminding pitchers that inherited runs count the same as the ones you give up on your own. Nature AND Nurture.
