  1. Once upon a time Terry Ryan went on such a hot streak acquiring prospects he started having trouble acquiring them.
  2. Not many people have won the Sire award twice. Will that get LaMarre entrance to the Twins Hall of Fame someday? I think Dobnak could surprise. I would like to see him get some opportunities with the Twins if for no other reason then to help justify his contract. It would be cool if he was in the rotation in 2024 with Paddack, Ryan, Ober, Winder, Varland, and or SWR. The cheapest rotation in the division. Another player I want to see get some time with the Twins is David Banuelos. I just like the idea of a player we got for absolutely nothing make the team at some point. Remember we got him from Seattle for ability to spend 1,000,000 , more on international free agents. Seattle at the time was trying for Ohtani. So if he could provide 10 games and 25 plate appearances with positive value then we win that deal by a mile. Coulombe should get innings with the Twins if he can stay healthy. Castro will be first one up if an IF gets hurt so he can be the utility player while someone else gets the starts. but I hope Lee wins the Sire award and opens the season on the Twins. That would be impressive.
  3. I think the Tays tried signing players from Tampa (Boggs was one). They tried signing expensive free agents in 90s, and they found winning to be their best draw. They did sign Longoria, their SS Wander Franco, and Kevin Kiermaier to long term deals. I don’t know their financials so I don’t know if they could add another 50 million to payroll. I imagine their ops department cost more than other teams to find the talent and figure out how to maximize it. So I don’t blame them for what they do. The question is if they get their new stadium or get another revenue stream how will they handle that or will they relocate to Nashville?
  4. I just noticed on https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/01/2023-mlb-arbitration-tracker.html that the Twins have 7 out of 8 potential arbitration cases already under contract for next season. (When did this happen? I thought they were only focused on getting Correa back). Only Arreaz is left to work out an agreement. I wonder if this certainty with their players played a part in the Twins being willing to go higher in payroll. meaning they have more certainty that it wont go even higher because of this group. Your thoughts?
  5. He will get chances. Looks like he is a few minor adjustments away… mostly in the control area but does he have a third useable pitch to throw to lefties once in a while to mix it up?
  6. Shifting is the main reason he went from 36 HR to 9. relax. Just being sarcastic…
  7. The Twins really didn’t have a big to do list this offseason. We needed a C and SS which we got, We still need a reliever, and maybe a top of rotation arm. After that just some tinkering.
  8. One last thought, with the Mets in top tier of financial penalties for payroll the costa for an injury are significantly higher for the Mets then the Twins. I doubt teams can get insurance to pay penalties on contracts too.
  9. We will possibly sign 1 and with the traded for pitcher and Ryan then Ober, Winder, SWR, Varland …. Rounding out next years rotation.
  10. We want a starter for 2 reasons 1. To be a top of rotation pitcher who will give us a better chance in the playoffs. 2. And this is likely the bigger reason. We have 3 starters headed to free agency after this season and having another controllable good starter helps us compete next season.

  12. So you say there is an opening in Cleveland…. It would be a boon to Keplers season to send Bauer there. if he is poisonous for the clubhouse I agree. Since all my info is second hand, I am ok if Twins management gives him a short leash ( meaning if he acts up in any way he’s out) too.
  13. Even though Correa is still a free agent, he is still entertaining us Twins Fans with all this offseason drama. This is just such a great show. I am going to sit back with my popcorn and enjoy the last few episodes before spring training.
  14. I think he knows he’s under the gun and would watch himself. If not cut bait quickly. Like Acewrigley said Falvey would know him from his time in Cleveland. All I am saying is here is a way to get him for free. Can he recover publicly??? I don’t know but I think if he did lots of community involvement to improve his image or for atonement, was a good / quiet teammate and stay’s out of trouble he could be the ace we are clamoring for.
  15. Like I said I don’t know about his troubles with being abusive or being a bad teammate. But free is free and doesn’t cost a thing.
  16. I don’t know his whole situation, I haven’t followed it. But what I do see is an opportunity to trade someone on their way out the door for a free flyer. For potentially an ace. Again the trade I proposed is set up for the Twins to be able to cut from without any cost. I haven’t heard any remorse from Marwin or Correa either.
  17. I think we should trade Enlow to the Dodgers for them to pay all of his contract so if at anytime we decide he’s a cancer in the clubhouse we can cut him and it cost us nothing since Enlow is likely out the door anyway. This is a chance at a free ace. Everyone deserves a shot at redemption. If we can sign Correa and Martin Gonzalez then we can give a short leash to Bauer.
  18. If we can sign Correa do we sign Bauer to a 720,000 contract with the rest paid by the Dodgers? That would give us an ace pitcher....
  19. I wonder if MLB stepped in and said something to Cohen along the lines if teams lose revenue cause he signs all of the star players the league will suffer as a whole for it and he needs to let other teams sign a star player for that reason.
  20. Why do we need to move on? If we can get back in and get Correa that will be a big win for 2023 Twins. Sure we’re are likely a willing pawn in this but until he is a Met we still have a chance. Also we provide an opportunity to stay at SS while he has to move to third with the Mets. Anyways I can watch this play out through spring training if need be cause what else are the Twins gonna do? A rebuild?
  21. It seems Correa is re-engaging with another team. That would fix the offseason if the Twins sign him and a reliever.
  22. He does have the talent to be a 40/40 guy. He is kinda of like Eric Davis. a guy who had incredible talent but couldn't stay healthy for a full season either. He did do better than Buxton has but man that guy could hit and run too. Eric Davis Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Rookie Status & More | Baseball-Reference.com
