  1. I thought only the DSL had those age restrictions. The GCL only has service time restrictions. Maybe I'm wrong. Either way, old class so far. Maybe they'll just go IFA for the youngsters.
  2. The Rays took him in the 28th round last year out of JuCo. The Rays picking someone is usually a plus in my book. That team is good at finding and developing pitching.
  3. My daughter's birthday is today as well, so this will be an easy one to remember. I just saw this checking BR.
  4. 9 college players in the first 10 rounds ... Ray Smith is going to be happy! Some 23 yo is probably going to go .400/.500/.700 in the Appy league and get annointed as the next savior.
  5. Great to see Enlow with some early success in the FSL ... I know it's a pitcher's league, and he probably hasn't been as good as his ERA, but he's not going to be old enough to order a beer until next March. Good stuff!
  6. Pitch count shouldn't even come into play there. My take is that he was a rookie on the road who just got through an inning after a four pitch walk. He got the ground ball to get the double play. Let him leave with another quality start and a positive ending to his outing. Baldelli was already concerned regardless of the pitch count, or he wouldn't have started warming up Harper. I won't disagree that the decision was justifiable, but I still don't think it was the correct decision. Smeltzer's FIP was 12.11 yesterday. That doesn't really give your team a chance.
  7. Smeltzer should have never come out for the 7th. That seemed like second guessing. Harper was already up in the 6th ... Not that it mattered, since Perez carved up the top of the order in the 8th.
  8. Sounds like he gets after it! Snagged him before Gardy could get him!
  9. It's just questioning the lack of pitchers drafted so far .... I tend to lean toward watching videos of pitchers myself, so I have an idea of who I liked (none were drafted) ... I'm not going to call out a pick, because obviously I don't know jack $*#. I think it's just fine to wonder where the pitching is going to come from .... The IFA comment definitely seems to be in play
  10. Stinson still there (as are Ealy and Hearn) .... I like how these rounds fly by
  11. They just switched Steer to SS. I guess they want to give Cavaco some competition.
  12. Wow, the Mets took Allan. Be interesting to see if he signs. I'm guessing not.
  13. It's been awhile since we've regularly had to say and spell Mientkiewicz. Maybe the Twins should draft Jack Kochanowicz and eventually pair him in the rotation with Jordan Balazovic. Also, I see at least three ranked prep players from Puerto Rico. I hope they keep that funnel alive as well. The current Twins wouldn't be who they are without that pipeline.
  14. I guess 2.4 mill was given to the 88th pick and 2 mill to the 109th pick last year, so there is precedent.
  15. Also, taking this with a grain of salt, but Hunter Barco's mom apparently posted on Facebook that he's going to Florida after not being drafted on Day 1.
