  1. Michael Pineda screwed this team over big time. I appreciate that Gibson came back and took one for the team, but his delivery is all messed up. I hope the best for him, and I hope he can get effective treatment. He should be shut down. The Twins really need Odorizzi and Berrios to deliver all-star performances this weekend, because starting pitching looks like it will be a patch job the rest of the way. You almost have to offer Odorizzi the QO. I don't care if the Twins have a strong negotiation case with Pineda. I don't want him on the team. Gibson should walk as well. It's a tough business, but his health issues are very concerning. Stewart/Hildenberger = Two no-brainer 40-man openings
  2. Yes to this ^ I still can't believe the best immediate depth option was Ryan LaMarre. De Aza's AAAA numbers look better. I know his leftiness is redundant with Miller, but I'm looking for a professional PA. Miller is only here to run and catch. Don't need to platoon split that.
  3. I think that is the perfect summation. He got BABIP'd by Soto and Zimmerman early with Polanco just out of range on Soto's grounder, but he walked Rendon to setup the second run. Eddie took a bad route and the crosswind helped make him pay for that inside-out Kendrick liner, but Perez lost his focus and served up a pipeshot to Zimmerman.
  4. That sucks. Cave and Kepler still unavailable too. Run for cover, I guess. Looks like a getaway lineup for game one of the Nats series.
  5. It's all hope based on his contribution to the 2017 playoff team and early domination in 2018 when there wasn't much book out on him. I guess he could adjust and become a master locator, but with his stuff, the command has to be impeccable. Otherwise, maybe some of his supporters went out and bought his jersey in 2017 hoping he was the closer in waiting. Maybe they'd like to don that jersey sans mockery.
  6. Sorry, the bag of rose-colored glasses being passed around ran out when it got to me. I smell 3-0 or 3-1 exit in the divisional series.
  7. There aren't enough games - let alone likely situations - to decide if Hildenberger is going to be a good option in a playoff game. Rogers, Romo, Dyson, Duffey, May and Littell all have to be ahead of him. I'd also argue that Thorpe and Smeltzer's leftiness puts them well ahead of him as well. I agree with both posters above. He shouldn't be in consideration for a 2019 postseason bullpen spot. We should let it play out .... in 2020. Hopefully, he has at least one option left. I hope he proves me wrong, but I'm betting against him until I lose a few times.
  8. He isn't a puppy learning where to pee. He's a 30 yo man who should feel some accountability to his profession, especially at the rate he is compensated. Any opinion suggesting that accountability - even harshly suggesting it - is welcome. A lot of fans have invested extra time and money into this exciting season, so there should be complete understanding when someone doesn't take the "aww, he's just a man like you or me, nobody's perfect, give him another chance" path. I would honestly like to see owner collusion at some point with one of these guys and have them all agree that a sacrificial player just won't be signed. I know it would be a MLBPA grievance nightmare, but another message needs to be sent.
  9. I don't think Balazovic or Ober or anyone who wasn't on the team at the beginning of the month is eligible for the post season. They'll have to stay in their cells.
  10. Feels like Eddie's throw to nail Devers is probably the 2019 pinnacle now. As much as I'd like to stay positive like the poster above mentioning opportunity presenting itself, this is just a big black cloud rolling in. Goddamnit.
  11. Hildenberger shouldn't be anywhere near a 2019 playoff roster. Give him some very low leverage outings to see if he has adjusted his frisbees to a league that has him figured out, but that's about it.
  12. I think it's possible, but Max would have to take another leap in a few areas. Yelich hitting 'em where they ain't is a great point. Kepler has done this in flashes. See his go ahead two-run single on Labor Day and his walk-off single against Liam Hendriks on July 21. The base-stealing is going to be a tough area, because the team approach may not lend itself to that development. Kepler should continue to improve, but some of Yelich's numbers may be a tall order. However, his defensive superiority could get him somewhat close.
  13. Maybe he will be of use in the Nats series. They haven't seen him live. They also need a pitcher to serve up a "we still love you" pitch to Dozier at some point in the series
  14. What's the over/under on quality starts from Twins starters the rest of the season? 2.5?
  15. Stu was already stretching reality with the zombie uprisings. That would have been too fantastic.
  16. The emergence of Duffey and May has been a really nice add to the late season push. I want to see them in high leverage against Boston, Cleveland and Washington to really feel confident.
  17. I don't see the Angels, Oakland or St. Louis as viable trade partners. The Angels need pitching, not outfielders. Oakland and St. Louis just aren't going to value someone like Rosario.
  18. Marwin Gonzalez at Free Safety - He has to roam around and cover for the others. (Stretch Here, but ... ) Trevor May at Linebacker - All that talking to himself makes me sometimes think he's got the crazies like Romanowski
  19. Tyler and Taylor will be circling May 4-6 next season, provided they both stay healthy and Tyler makes the cut. I don't thing Taylor has to worry about making the cut, being a top 5 reliever in all of baseball.
  20. It was either Morris or Blyleven that stated something about Littell's fastball not playing as a starter at this level. His off-speed offerings are good, but his fastball plays better in the bullpen where he can just let it fly and not worry about saving anything for the 3rd-6th innings. With that said, I would be OK with FO planning that Littell will be one of the five core relievers next year. You have to leap with some of these guys, and I think Littell is a good bet. Rogers, Dyson, Duffey, May, Littell is a good start for the 2019 bullpen. I would say they need to get another lefty, but is that really going to be important with the 3 batter rule?
  21. The Twins will have to play way better than they did against Detroit, or this is going to be another lost series. Giolito is turning into the best starting pitcher in the division (I see you blushing, Bieber), and Dylan Cease is starting to figure it out (he has all the talent necessary to slot in right behind Giolito). Extra outs and bases handed over by the defense just aren't an option.
