  1. Im looking forward to the off season top prospects lists to see where the three listed by rdehring end up. Duran looks like a good prospect with last night’s 10 k’s.
  2. How is Kiriloff’s arm? Which “corner” would work best for him? And might he play 1B in 2020 while Rokker takes over in 2021? Any reason to start him at high-A for a month next year and then move him up to the Lookouts?
  3. It will be Polanco as a place holder in 2019. Middle infield is arguably the strongest position in the minors. But with Gordon added to the list of minor league studs, major league duds, the middle infielders of the future are all in A ball. So, yes, it is with great disappointment that I announce the 2019 opening day defense for our Twins: Sano, Polanco, 30-something mediocre late-signing FA, Austin. And an outfield of Rosario, Buxton and Cave. Sigh.
  4. It will be Sano until it isn’t. That’s not Zen, it’s just that they will run Sano out there at third until they outright him. Who in the minors will be the 3B of the future?
  5. As with 1B, there will be a number of intriguing options in 2020, including Gordon and Arraez. But, for 2019, especially for the first half of the season, the cupboard is indeed bare. Since Free agency began, I to, fantasize that my home team could get their pick, but I don’t think Machado will be interested in the Twins. What is Starin Castro’s contractstatus? The Twins would need a minimum of three years of control to even consider trading for him. If I had to guess, i’d Guess Forsythe or some other mediocre 1 year 30- something they sign late.
  6. Mauer if he accepts a one year for $6 million or less. Otherwise Austin. In 2020, whoever is further along between Rooker or Kirilloff (or some surprise player who starts 2019 in AA). By the way, thanks for starting these, MikeLink.
  7. A key question about resigning Mauer (aside for the $’s, obviously), is the next best alternative. If Joe is not resigned, who is the 1B for 2019? (By the way, I’m not worried about 2020– I think there a bunch of current Minor Leaguers who might be ready by then including, we hope, Kirilloff). If one pencils in, say, Sano, then that simply shifts the problem to 3B and presumes Sano returns to some kind of form. Is it Austin?
  8. Because the St. Paul Saints were good at relief pitcher. I mean, who else would trade for Belisle.
  9. Mr. Bonnes suggested there might be outside suitors? Really? Will there be much demand for a power-free 1B? A speed-free lead off hitter? If the Twins bring him back as a platoon player, I hope they pay him as a platoon player. Mauer never offered a home town discount; I hope the FO doesn’t offer a home town premium. If it is a one year deal, what number are we thinking? 5 mill?
  10. And Buxton and Sano will bounce back and we'll have unicorns throwing out first pitches. I'm just very skeptical given the complete lack of success the Twins have had getting minor leaguers up to the pros and succeeding there. 2020 might be an interesting year, but I'm not exactly looking forward to 2019. Maybe Gordon, Wade, Kiriloff and Rooker will be added in September 2019.
  11. My guess is that September call ups will be limited to those already on the 40man roster.
  12. EDIT: Andrew Vasquez is getting a call-up. I didn't foresee him arriving quite yet because he's barely pitched in AAA, but he's dominated A+ and AA. That's quite the leap from where he started the season! Hmmm... I couldn’t find Vasquez on the Top Prospects list. He must not be very good. Congrats Andrew!
  13. How does Duffey get credited with a save? Were there a bunch of runners when he came on in the 8th?
  14. Man, there are some good players in A ball right now. I just looked at the Miracle batting order. Only three with OPS above .700.
  15. I'd just as soon not waste one day between now and the beginning of 2019 in terms of seeing if he can figure out how to hit major league pitching. I'm sorry, but the Twins will NOT be competitive in 2019. Maybe .500. But 2020?
  16. At this point, I don't think a Buxton injury is a hope. Its more of a prediction. Maybe they should switch him to whole milk or something.
  17. Cold, but true. I know he and his agent will be upset, but if one looks at his stats for the year, including games played, I don't think he has too much of an argument.
  18. I wonder how much it would cost to hang onto Forsythe for one more year? He may be a good insurance policy for say 3 mill.
  19. Sorry. I’m giving the over under at 4years before automated balls strikes
  20. I’m giving the lever under in years before it’s automated at 4 years. And there will be an umpire labor action.
  21. I hope I am wrong, but boxscores seem to suggest that many MiLB players are exhausted. Bryan Sammons comes to mind. Most recent starts #6-10 his era was sub 3. Most recent starts 1-5 the ERA is above 8.
