  1. Wonderful summary! Thank you. When it comes to "Help on the Way", I strongly suspect Dozier and Santana (and maybe even Hughes) will not be in Twins uniforms come September. Inevitable injuries among the competitors will lead to suitors and desirable prospects in return. And open some rotation spots for whomever shines in AAA or even AA.
  2. I'm too lazy to look it up, but what "handedness" do each hit? Also, does Garver have "remaining options" issues? Absent those considerations, I'm inclined to start Garver at AAA, not only for his growth, but keeping experienced catchers in the majors may help that pitching staff.
  3. How many teams will be "in contention" by the trading deadline? Maybe 20? Subtract the number of those in the AL Central then multiply that by the probability that a team's starting 2B is injured and you get at least one team that will pay or even overpay for Dozier. (The math is completely made up, but...) And, by then, the Minnesota Twins' AAAA (half way between majors and AAA) roster will evolve where they have a better idea what is valuable. Its a lesser outcome than the daydream of Dozier for 3 Dodgers' prospects, but it "ain't bad".
  4. Not necessarily. Many times a third baseman plays level to the bag while a SS plays deep in the hole. This has two effects. First, the ball gets to the 3B quicker than it would get to the SS. Second, a ground ball hit to the SS's right might only be caught maybe 30 full feet deeper than where the 3B plays. Also, unless your first name is Brooks (yes, I am old), almost all 3B throws are straight-forward, whereas a SS might have to throw off balance.
  5. Although it would be fun to have Will Smith, the actor, hanging around Target field, Will Smith, the catcher might be a better piece.
