  1. I'm with you. Does Wes have the right to pursue employment elsewhere? Sure! Was it a crappy thing to do with the team right in the middle of the season going into the biggest series of the year so far? Yes! I'll be watching to see what the reasons might be. If it's money, I get it. And if it's the fact that Johnson prefers to work with college athletes in a smaller setting, I get it. And if it's a combo of the two, I get it. Or if Wes is having personal issues and wants to step down from the spotlight, I get it. Right now I'm wondering if there's some friction with the Twins organization and/or Rocco that we've not seen.
  2. I'm sure he won't walk the first batter and then give up a HR, no way that happens.
  3. Theilbar is horrible, as are half of his teammates in the 'pen. It's really Duran and Jax, I don't know who else gives this team a chance to win this game.
  4. Never liked him as a Twin, I'm glad he's having success elsewhere but personally Gibson is a hard pass for me.
  5. I think it's fair to say that if the Twins get out of this inning tied 5-5, we'll consider it a small victory.
  6. He's going against former Twin Chi Chi Gonzales who is also struggling.
  7. He's talking about the bad defense - a Rockies player just popped up to first base and the runner tagged and went from 1st to 2nd on the play. This means if the current batter up hits a single, 2 runs score rather than 1.
  8. Unforgiveable defense there letting Montero get to 2nd on a pop-out to 1st base!
  9. How did Kirilloff not tag up on that deep fly by Gordon? Bad fundamentals. Edit: Smalley says it was the right play.
  10. Not a good start. Offense needs to pick up where they left off yesterday.

    Wiffle Ball

Very true! I also had many a wiffle ball game as a youngster. We played in parking lots, alleys, and front stoops - during break from school during the summer it was an all day activity!
  12. Lot of meat left on the bone last night, but winning 6-0 certainly takes some of the sting off the nagging issue. Surprised we didn't see Duffey at the end there. Twins have lost two straight series and are staring at a 3rd if they lose today. They've been shut out a league worst 10 times and are 13-19 over their past 32 games. Does that make today a must-win? No. But it seems pretty important to right the ship nonetheless. Time for Ryan to deliver that gem we've been waiting for since he came off the IL.
  13. Park gives all the details here Jax, including his rank: https://www.mlb.com/news/griffin-jax-called-up-by-twins "Jax's promotion (to the rank of Captain) was disrupted by his transfer to the Air Force Reserve in 2019 to facilitate his professional baseball career, meaning that he's still 1st Lt. Griffin Jax".
  14. Nice inning by Jax there. How about 2-3 more runs just to make everyone feel comfy?
  15. Productive ABs from every Twin that's come to bat so far in the 2nd.
  16. Archer wriggled out of that nicely. Scoreboard update: Boston just took a 3-2 lead on Cleveland in the 6th thanks to a 3-run shot by Verdugo.
  17. Positive comment: It was nice to see Byron Buxton hit a triple. I hope he can start heating up, the Twins sure need him.
  18. Incredibly deflating effort after an amazing start, pretty typical of this team lately. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
  19. A shame how the Twins had a runner on 3rd with nobody out and they can't even make contact. Embarrassing stuff.
  20. Disagree with your take on Rocco - but I do agree that this team is among the most puzzling teams in years. Frankly I think they've been extremely lucky, there are probably 10 games that could have easily gone the other way. The reality is that this team should be treading water around or just below the .500 mark, but everyone's frustrated because they've been lead to believe this is a playoff-caliber team. Everything makes more sense when you start thinking of them as a mediocre ballclub, building for 2023.
