  1. Walk comes around to score. In other news, water is wet.
  2. Question: even if the Twins lose, do they feel satisfied that they stole a game from the Yankees and went 3-3 against TOR and NYY? Next question: Is it possible that the Twins pull some magic out of their caps tonight and somehow steal a game in perhaps the biggest pitching mismatch in baseball this week?
  3. Well I'll be damned. After Tuesday's game one would think the Twins might have folded, but they really gave the Yanks all they could handle last night. Great to see Bux showing emotion again, and with Correa back I think the offense may remain confident. With Polanco heating up we might be finally getting that 1-2-3 punch at the top of the order we've been dreaming about since winter. How about Rocco pulling Celestino for Larnach - he was looking to pile on to the lead and it worked perfectly when Larnach delivered a PH double to give the Twins some room. Great move by Rocco, as was bringing in Jax and letting him go 2 innings. Props to Chris Archer, he got his first win as a Twin last night. When's he going to be able to throw 90 pitches? It's June 9th after all, even if he missed all of Spring Training he should be ready to do that by now. Or is Archer just at a 70 pitch limit at this point in his career? If so, I never heard about that.
  4. I'm right there with you, whoda thunk it. I'd like to see him get another inning but I don't think that's happening, is it?
  5. Well those 10 minutes with a lead sure was fun while it lasted.
  6. Horrific potential game-deciding error on Gordon there, saved by an amazing play by Polanco two plays later. Wow what a DP!
  7. I can't imagine he'll play the remainder of this series though, as we've seen the Twins are very cautious with these type of things. If a guy winces, he's on bed rest for a week. Seriously though hope Luis is OK. Definitely the bright spot on this team in 2022.
  8. It's also worth questioning why Tyler Duffey was the choice to pitch late in a one run game. This is because this was one of Rocco's "forfeit games" where he refuses to use any of his best players because he's saving them for later in the series. Basically the Twins weren't playing to win last night - they were playing for a win on Wednesday/Thursday. The problem with this strategy is that all too often, the rest of the series goes sideways and the best guys never have a chance to pitch in a meaningful game. The Twins may very well lose the next two games by double-digits, and therefore the best chance they had to win was during that 1-run contest last night*. As a fan, I want my guys to play to win TODAY - and worry about tomorrow when we get there. Rocco's approach to the MLB season has always been way too far sighted for my taste. *In fairness, a team should have a bullpen full of major leaguers that can get batters out, regardless of how good the team they are facing is. The Twins have some serious holes in the 'pen and need to make changes.
  9. Rocco had this down as one of the forfeit games he orchestrates when he doesn't think the Twins will compete. Even though they're still in the game, he's not going to change his strategy. Just throw the worst pitchers at the Yanks all game long.
  10. Can Sands and Minaya both get credited for a loss in this game? Why stick just one pitcher with the "L" when they're both so deserving? Let 'em hit all the homers they want, just don't walk these guys. My god, it's Baseball 101.
  11. Incredibly this is still a winnable game. Credit where it's due, the offense is showing some fight. Not sure how the pitching holds on tonight, but at least it's been a competitive first half of the game.
  12. Quite a disappointing 30-game stretch from Bux here.
  13. Pretty on-brand effort from Sands. 3.2 IP and 4 ER, which is exactly his season average. He's got no business on this roster. Meanwhile we've got Winder, Ober, Gray and Ryan who could ALL be pitching now but are being held back for "extra rest" just in case. Hope it's worth it in the long run, I guess we'll just have to wait and see in Sept when we look at the final standings.
  14. Such a ridiculously risky decision from Rocco here.
  15. Better be someone warming right now, can't believe it if not.
  16. He was really fooled on a few pitches there during that AB. Twins may have a chance still but I fear the momentum will swing back to NYY quickly if Sands remains in the game. The outs have just been too loud, and the hits have been too big.
