  1. The logjam isn’t great because the vets Kepler and Gallo have been unproductive recently, and the young guys are unproven. But I’d take unproven over unproductive so I’d trade Kepler AND one of the young guys for pitching. Likely in separate deals unless the buyer wants two LH OFs.
  2. No. That’s why if they insist on another RH outfielder, it should be a bench bat, not a starter.
  3. The right handed options aren’t very attractive, I’d rather go with the left handed young players. If they really want another righty, it should be a bench guy. Not a guy who is on his last legs but will be expected to start. They have to start finding room for the young bats, it shouldn’t only be Miranda.
  4. I’m not thrilled that the team seems deadset on filling the outfield with aging and/or declining vets.
  5. I feel bad being so frank, but Randy Dobnak was less much talented and had no upside.
  6. Let’s do 2026 since we just paid a new catcher to steal strikes from those snooty human umps.
  7. This is a pretty solid low risk gamble. Well done. With the extra year, and with him being dirt cheap in 2024, there should be no imperative to let him step on the field this year.
  8. Vikings come out hot, Jones tries to keep up but presses and turns it over a couple of times. Vikings 38 - Giants 17.
  9. Until they start sloughing off some of the existing vets, or trade some of the MLB ready young players, I'd rather just roll with left handed outfielders. I don't want to keep clogging up the roster with questionable veteran bats when there are eager and more talented young guys who are trying to make the team.
  10. I really want to Moran to end up being a homegrown bullpen staple, but we so rarely see the guys with control issues turn it around. By "we", I mean Twins fans, maybe other teams have more success than we do.
  11. I really don't need a firm RF, at least not to start the year. I'd be just fine if the team gave regular reps to several players until one runs away with the job. But I'd move Kepler and Arraez for pitching then sign Trey Mancini who can do both of their jobs but hits right handed.
  12. Yeah, the surgery sounds gruesome, but really, in the end isn't it just a broken bone growing back together?
  13. Why do the Twins want poor hitting players though? They can improve the offense by not having Baez or Kepler and it would cost them a whole heck of a lot less to do it.
  14. If Larnach or Kirlloff can't stay on the field, why does Kepler need to be the answer? There surely will be more Kyle Garicks and Jake Caves available on the cheap. They can hit just as poorly as Kepler but cost 10M less.
  15. I don’t want Lopez, I want the other pitchers. But I’d trade Kepler for about any useful pitcher so if the other pieces the Twins send aren’t too important, I guess go ahead and get him. Hopefully the Twins saying they don’t want to trade Arraez is their initial ploy to pivot talks from Lopez to the other arms.
  16. I think trading Gray would be too delicate for the team to actually follow through. They just built a bunch of good will with the team and the fans by signing Correa. They know they'll be putting themselves back in the crosshairs if they moved their best pitcher. Gray seems more likely to move at the trade deadline should the Twins not be performing.
  17. Whether he took the Twins deal, or the Mets even lower, and frankly insulting offer; he was going to feel slighted. I'm no psychologist, but here's hoping that while the Mets didn't give him a contract, they did hand him a giant chip to put on his shoulder.
  18. It really doesn't matter how ZiPS or the trade calculator value him (maybe the calculator uses ZiPS?), it matters how the Marlins value him. Cabrera is a 24-year-old who throws 96-97 MPH, who has been a top 100 prospect for three years, had a great rookie season and has six years of control left. He's the most valuable of them by any measure of common sense. If the Marlins somehow disagree, than it's a no brainer to trade for him.
  19. I've been saying all week the the Marlins likely have no interest in Kepler, but I suppose if they are working a deal with the Twins for pitching, a Kepler for Soler swap as a side part of the deal may make sense. Soler's righthanded and Kepler is cheaper.
  20. ******Moderator Note****** The other Bauer thread was locked, this one will be too if the posts don't stay on topic. Those posters that don't want Bauer have valid and clearly justifiable reasons,. If you want to stump for the Twins signing Bauer, do not do so by attacking, judging or accusing those posters, casting aspersions on victims or promoting boys-will-be-boys behaviors. Stump for him with his baseball stats, or don't do it at all.
  21. Enough. Bauer isn't coming here, and this nonsense serves no purpose on this site. We don't need threads open in the baseball forums dedicated solely to discussing or defending terrible people.
  22. The Marlins need help up and down their lineup. Jazz Chisholm is the only long term piece they can count on. Their entire lineup is almost exclusively 30-year-olds who aren't any good. They need way too much help on offense, and as we've all seen the last several years, Kepler no longer helps on offense. It would be like the Marlins trying to headline a package for Joe Ryan using Jorge Soler.
  23. I've actually got higher hopes for Julian than I do Martin. That's more of an endorsement of Julian than a knock on Martin, but Martin does earn some knocks at this point. In any case, I think you move Arraez ASAP while his value is still at his peak.
  24. Even if the Marlins wanted Kepler, and I really doubt they do, that's nowhere near enough to get Cabrera. That's probably not even half of what it will take to get him.
